The song itself (and the album) was a commercial flop for The Doors. The video footage survived, though rarely seen. I like the last line: "Remember when we were in Africa?"
I always thought the guitar hook was sorta catchy on that one. Good on Iggy. BTW, "1969" is not most people's favorite song from that album. But it shows where Iggy and The Doors were at the same point in time.
Also, The Stooges and The Doors were both signed to Elektra Records. I read or heard that The Stooges did that album cover as a spoof of The Doors' first LP.
@deborah: You flatter me, but really I've just been fortunate enough to learn such trivia from others and I suppose to remember things. But as I get older, the danger of misremembering creeps in.

Your knowledge of the music industry is prodigious. I never heard of the Stooges, and even if I had, wouldn't have known they were spoofing The Doors.
