Trooper Is In Our Thoughts And Prayers

Dear All:

I've learned that our beloved Trooper York is in the hospital with congestive heart failure. He's alive and well but has been in de-fib A-fib in the ICU for the last 3 days. His last post on Trooper York let us know that he wasn't feeling well and things finally came to a head. Nick Spinelli got in touch with his wife and is keeping us updated.

Tomorrow is his birthday -- he'll be 57.  If you'd like to send him a card, drop me an email and I'll help you get in touch.  I'm considering posting his hospital contact info, but am withholding it for now.

All prayers are welcomed.

His heart may have failed him but it didn't fail us.

Stay positive!

I need this guy alive. Just knowing he's out there, and that I might bump into him someday keeps me sane.

That rascal had better pull through this. Love him.

Thanks, Chick.

Behind the abrasiveness is a genuinely caring guy. I offer my prayers and best wishes for a quick and complete recovery, Jim.

Thank you pollo.

I hope he pulls through.

That's awfully young for that issue. Good luck.

Hang in there, Trooper - we need you around here to keep us in line.

If it's any consolation, I have a friend who has congestive heart failure. He's had it for 10 years, and is no different than he was before, just a little slower and taking a completely different look at his diet. Exercise? Forget it.

Get better, Troop.

You're the one we should thank, Nick...I just put the word out which always helps.

For Trooper, from the Roman Missal:

All-powerful and ever-living God,
the lasting health
of all who believe in you,
hear us as we ask your loving help
for the sick,
restore their health,
that they may again offer
joyful thanks in your Church.

Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Praying for strength, healing and renewal for Trooper and his heart, along with courage and peace for his other heart, the love of his life who is standing alongside.

OMG.

I hope they don't put him in the Obamacare wing of the hospital.

You got some timing buddy.

The world would be a lesser place without guys like Troop. Hang tough, big guy...I'm with baggy on this..

Your email besides outlook express--I don't have an accnt set up. Would like to send Troop an appropriately obscene get-well card..

obscene get-well card

I want in on that. And, I would imagine, most of us do.

That, and the Yankees not making the playoffs. A one-two punch like that would be too much for most NY'ers.

Troop, there will always be next season. You don't want to miss it.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Yeah Troop - If you get anything from Carlos Danger, just delete it.

john said...

How about a pop-up obscene get-well card? There is local talent here.

Eric, That's where Elaine eats the Queen's wedding cake and tries to replace it w/ Entemmans.

Trooper's heart just needs a breather to catch up with his spirit. If anyone'll pull through, the big Troop will. Many prayers, man. Just remember to slow down, take it easy, and not let life get to you too much. Meditate and smell the roses. Take in the beauty, don't sweat the small stuff, keep living life on your own terms, but at a relaxed pace, eat healthy and take care of your heart!

Synova said...

Oh, no. Get well, Trooper!

My alltime favorite is a drag queen in bed surrounded with drag queen implements all around, open box of chocolate, makeup kit, candles, feminine things, hats, frilly things piled on the bed, pillows, stuffed animals, mirrors, every kitsch thing imaginable pulled into the frame, hair piled up and tied with scarves, frilly extravagant robe, a veritable pharmacopia piled around, extra hair all over, breakfast on a tray, and inside reads:

Isn't being a drag sick?

And I like the idea of doing something with Titus's "tits up"

That makes me laugh right there.

On account of it being so rude.

And oblivious to the gravitah.

But the thing is, I've been in hospitals and I despise them so, and yet they saved me, and so gravely, a couple times, yet I hate them so, yet they saved me, yet I...

So "busting out" would be my theme. You got to get out and never go back.

I think my hospitalization pop-up must have to do with escape. That's where my thinking goes.

Trooper, get out.

Meade said...

Get well, Jim.

john said...

Chip. Maybe "tits up" isn't the best message to send in a get well card.

Kind of like sending daisies to the hospital. But maybe I'm just old fashioned.

Trooper has posted and says he's gonna make a full recovery. Those poor nurses.

chickelit said...

Do you think he'll be too hard on the nurses, bago?

Freeman Hunt said...

Get well soon, Troop. Prayers for you.

edutcher said...

CHF is a bad one. I hope they only had to de-fib him once.

We have had our differences (and then some) over the years, but I wish him the best and hope he gets well quickly.

My best to the lovely Mrs Troop, also.

Amartel said...

Never met and probably never will but reassuring to know there's a Trooper somewhere out there, giving hell to lawyers, journalists, skinny bitches, annoying overbearing nuisances of all stripes and weights. Glad to read he's out of danger and on the road to recovery. And, yeah, pray for the nursing staff.

Rabel said...

This one's for you, Trooper.

Get well soon.

Titus said...

Yea!!!! Troop is going to be OK. I am so fucking happy. I was really fucking bummed tonight but when I read that he is going to be ok I was fucking thrilled!!!!!

Love you so much Troop....even though I have never met you.

Now advice for Troop, don't work too hard, follow docs instructions and please relax some. Good health is the most important thing in life......and tits.

deborah said...

Glad to hear you're doing better, Trooper :)

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Whew
Now that Troop is on the mend, and his bum has been checked for loose change...

I think it's time to begin the
RECALL John McCain campaign.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

I agree with Titus. Follow Docs instructions and take it easy.
I've been through this with loved ones. Those that followed docs orders fared much better.

ndspinelli said...

Rabel, What a great photo of The Duke. He looks like a dude that Titus would obsess on if he were back in the 1930's.

ndspinelli said...

XRay, He's not had a boner since the Reagan administration.

vza said...

Best wishes for a complete recovery, Trooper.

They say the secret of a long life is to get a serious illness and nurse it through old age. Well, that's the wish here. Good luck.

Is Joey Heatherton available to cheer him up?

Get well, Trooper.

Valentine Smith said...

First time I read Troop over at Althouse's I said that there's a Brooklyn guy. I could hear his accent in the cadence of his language. There's no higher praise.

Get well.

Mumpsimus said...

Hang tough, Troop. Also, take it easy. I guess you'll have to alternate.

JAL said...

Just saw the news (on a road trip).

Assume it a-fib not de-fib.

Glad to read Troop is doing better.

Take care of yourself you Yankee. Seriously. Old CV nurse talking here. Learn to manage the indulgences better. ;- ) Life still can be good.

You are worth having around.

Prayers for your healing and for your family that they can put up with you.

sakredkow said...

Is Joey Heatherton available to cheer him up?
