No doubt the Disney Company crafted very deliberate product, in the case of Miley Cyrus the product was Hannah Montana, designed to appeal to tweens and teens. But Cyrus (with input I assume from her parents) just as deliberately agreed to "be" Hannah Montana in the hope that that image would sell, which it did, bigtime. In short I don't see her as simply used. The Hannah Montana creation was essentially wholesome with some edginess thrown in to not be too square. Now Cyrus has made a decision, I'm assuming quite calculated, to go the gutter route. A radical mistake? I think so but I'm so out of it that maybe she's made the correct career move given the present state of the culture.
All she had to do was think about fellow Disney alums Aguilera and Britney and how close they came to tossing it all away (remember Madge soul-kissing both of them at the Grammys (or whatever it was)?).
As I say, she's got parental issues like LiLo, which makes things worse.
My point about Disney is that some outfits seem to try to get these kids into adult life with an idea of what's going to keep them viable. 5 years from now, we'll be hearing Anna Nicole stories about Miley.
Hollywood is notorious for using up child stars. About a year ago there were stories about child stars from the 1980s being passed around to various H'weird pederasts when they were young.
