No, I'm sorry for picking nits and clearly you are arguing for teaching of morals. Maybe I need for you to expand on what you mean by critical thinking skills because I relate that to cognitive thinking, not emotional regulation, impulse control, and imparting values.. Those things all have to come from personal relationships, primarily the family but also mentors. I just don't get what you are advocating for as a matter of public policy (if in fact you are advocating that.)
Nice diversion, Crack. The issue is the false consciousness engineered by the media and you bust out the racial drama, starring the one and only Wise Crack who knows all. Those white people, THOSE RACIST DUPES, couldn't possibly understand. They've never had to fight an uphill battle against a false media narrative, never experienced any random violence or discrimination, never lifted anything heavy, never had to worry about going into a wrong neighborhood or being beaten for looking at someone "funny." Or jogging by their house. Never tried to explain People v. Zim to an idiot infused with fiction and contempt by the media, academia, their representative. ETC. You have brought so much concentrated weapons-grade bullshit today that you showed up on the potential-friends-of-dingbat sonar. That's not a good sign. (But I thank you for identifying that for what it is. Respect where it's due.)
What can we do to help the black community to change this? Will demonizing them help? If so, how?
inga, there may be people here that would demonize all black people, but I don't think that's the majority at all. I think perhaps what most are saying is that the first step, and perhaps the one thing that white Americans can do, is to ask for an honest assessment, reporting, and analysis of crime committed by blacks. My take on the comments here is that many feel that the slanting of crime reporting is preventing any possibility of solving the problem. What say you?
Inga said... As I said a few minutes ago Pogo, I can't argue with your statistics. I won't condem an entire class of Americans either. What can we do to help the black community to change this? Will demonizing them help? If so, how?
And I say that any black person or black leader who demonizes white people for the past slave trade, or who extracts reparations from living people who only have white skins is just as wrong.
Well, the everyday folks that voted twenty times are morons. Plus the dead ones that voted. And the IRS that suppressed voters voting against the morons.
"You seriously think if Obama wouldn't be President this shitstorm wouldn't stink as badly?" Yes. Things would not have been nearly this bad under McCain.
"So, what, are you super human Pogo?" Is onanism a super-power?
But I live where I live, and they were brought up to hate critical thinking.
Dude, I've got great family of Tongans on one side of me, and a fire breathing (white) racist on the other side who told me - to my face - he's positive I'm hiding a child molester in my house. I've got a hardcore Mormon across the street, who stays concerned about my lawn, and across from him is a white lady who rents rooms in her house to a steady stream of black guys who have no visible means of support except visitors who have never adjusted the bass in their cars.
Hope you find your back feeling better soon, Crack. I'd tell you I'm praying for you too--but it'd be a lie. I don't think there's anyone to pray towards.
But I would suggest looking into finding a rolfer. A good one could loosen up some of the tight shit pulling on your verts and probably make you more comfortable. At least it's worked for me--and I didn't really believe it would going in, I thought it was hocus pocus bullshit.
But after a while you reach a point where you'll try about anything.
The leftwing slant press is the dominate press... and they pushed a lie. The destruction caused by the Zimmerman/Martin case will have ramifications for a long long time. Forget Martin and Zimmerman. It's not about Martin and Zimmerman. It's about the lie.
That's what a lie is -- Total destruction, havoc, a farce, a non-reality. The lie creates division and hatred and one political party takes the advantage. How fucked up is that? The lie doesn't disappear-- it ripples on and destroys everything it can in it's path.
The lie killed a ball player from Australia. The lie beats and kills an elderly man for no reason. The lie burns people to death. I'm still waiting for the left to comment on this.
The black "community" is not going to solve its problems. Because that's not why black people were organized into a community. By the very people who have always and are now still keeping black people, and any random other weak demographic grouping, IN THRALL. And everyone else on defense.
No amount of discussion about "critical thinking" (or "listening" or "supporting") is going to change this fact except for some lucky few bright individuals. "Critical thinking" will be exploited in the same way that "education" is exploited; to further the interests of the ruling class. Full stop.
The only thing that changes this situation is unblinking honesty, about ourselves (no matter what box we've climbed out of) and about the frauds in our ruling class, including the palace guards in the press.
Which is why this story (and others), and the stark contrast to the reporting of Trayvon Martin's killing, is important albeit provoking.
No, I'm sorry for picking nits and clearly you are arguing for teaching of morals. Maybe I need for you to expand on what you mean by critical thinking skills because I relate that to cognitive thinking, not emotional regulation, impulse control, and imparting values..
As a society, we're so invested in post-modernism, we can hardly blame kids for not trusting anything. And in a young COUNTRY erupting from such egregious violence, we shouldn't be surprised - without attention - it lingers.
But give people critical thinking and they DO respond. Blacks always start off by laughing at me for being a conservative. But, by the end of my talking to them, they want me to run for office.
I have a better plan - and I, too, could use some help.
It's better than throwing your hands up in frustration, I assure you,...
And I say that any black person or black leader who demonizes white people for the past slave trade, or who extracts reparations from living people who only have white skins is just as wrong.
And I say take out the demonization but quit acting like slavery hasn't left a mark on this country and it's people - white and black - and, if there's a way to make this place finally work after such madness, then we take it.
Hell, if somebody white had ever thought of throwing a PRIDE parade for anybody but gays we could probably have avoided all talk of reparations altogether.
Somehow, with all the racial hostility blacks face, that's probably a tough sell altogether.
Look, again, at the race map and tell me I'm wrong.
McWhorter, in that piece in Time magazine, links to an article written in the Philadelphia Inquirer about black-on-black crime, which includes this:
"This is all learned behavior with these kids," Bellamy [director of a program in Philadelphia that enlists ex-offenders to reach out to youth] says. "And it starts when they're very, very young."
"When you hear their stories, you say it's no wonder why they're doing what they're doing," she says.
Still, [Bellamy] says, she was surprised when she started really listening to these young men by how much most of them yearn for a better life.
They just don't know how to attain it.
That yearning for a better life, but not knowing how to attain it is just plain sad.
Crack: Do you remember the time when you went off the rails on Althouse and attacked the religion of the guy who tried to save Jews in Poland and Germany during WW II? You probably don't, because you didn't connect the dots, because you didn't even see the little dots you were attacking. Never mind, I summed it up for you here with links. It's OT, but since you seem to be trying to take some kind of blameless moral high ground, I had to throw that out there plus it's an homage to your personal style of always linking to yourself.
I watched you smear and disgrace Obama's main challenger during the 2012 race based only -- as far as I could tell -- on the man's religion. This is why I can never take you seriously my friend.
I think it is fair to say that Crack does not represent all of black American. He does not buy into the victim mentality but rightly points out that there were injustices in days gone by that play into what is happening now. Unfortunately too many of us both black and white have signed onto our tribes viewpoint and will not look at the other people as individuals.
That is not to say that you shouldn't lock you car door when a black guy walks up or be ready to drawn down as Cody says when you are approached by a group of black yutes. That is only common sense.
I really appreciate that concept of critical thinking. Not taking someone's word for truth and investigating or thinking for yourself. Being able to discern what the hidden motive is. Que bono.
Unfortunately, those skills are something that are usually learned at an early age and given to you by competent teachers (which we don't have) and caring intact families (which the liberals policies have destroyed in the black community and which they are doing their damndest to do to the rest of society)
I agree. Young black men, in particular, are born into a culture and society that has a huge headwind against them to be able to be critical thinkers, to be sucessful, to get OUT of the morass that they are born into.
However!!! That is no excuse for committing violence against harmless and innocent people.
I'm afraid that it really doesn't take much in the way of critical thinking to know that smashing an 88 year old man repeatedly in the head with blunt instruments and leaving him to die, is not a good thing to do. If you haven't at least that much morality, all the counseling in the world isn't going to save you.
These guys who do these types of things (white or black) are gonners to the human race and need to be kept away from the rest of us. ....permanently.
We might.....just MIGHT be able to save the younger generations, but it would involve getting rid of the race hustlers like Sharpton, remove the government from the schools and institute a more moral, not necessarily religious, framework.
Teach REAL history and not agenda driven ideology. Teach some other basic skills that allow critical thinking. Reading comprehension would be a start!
It would be nice.....but.....it will never happen. I frankly think we are not going to be able to nicify our way out of this and IT. ..WILL .. NOT...END ... WELL.
It will end, just not nicely, not neatly, not quickly, and not happily.
The black "community" is not going to solve its problems. I stand before as Exhibit A that what you say is FALSE. I'm not exceptionally smart. I just chose different fields of study.
That yearning for a better life, but not knowing how to attain it is just plain sad.
I agree. Whites, for the most part, take it for granted blacks know the same things they do. They're always surprised we've never been skiing, or horseback riding, or sailing (which I'd never done until 3 years ago). They also think we know what taxes are, or how insurance works, or a whole world of shit we merely fake understanding.
Crack: Do you remember the time when you went off the rails on Althouse and attacked the religion of the guy who tried to save Jews in Poland and Germany during WW II?
Yep - and I'd do it again. Christian Scientists deprive children of blood transfusions. I am unwavering on religions that hurt children for Jesus or anything else.
I watched you smear and disgrace Obama's main challenger during the 2012 race based only -- as far as I could tell -- on the man's religion. This is why I can never take you seriously my friend.
Don't - I'd rather have this country in Obama's fucked-up hands than in the clutches of the Mormons.
You did hear Romney claim the Mormons invented cold fusion, didn't you?
How many of YOU have stood before a group of blacks and defended Zimmerman?
Did it yesterday in fact. I listen to their side and when I got my shot to explain it to them all but one was nodding their heads in agreement and almost to the person said, "Yeah, I can see the point of that."
How many of YOU have stood before a group of whites and defended the black reaction to Trayvon?
Did it with the same group (both black and white) but once I had their attention and they still saw my point, I left them with the opinion that I can still understand the anger even though it is misplaced. One guy shot back, "Well, it I would be angry too if I knew my ancestors were slaves..." and one black guy looked back at him and said, "That's bullshit. Check yourself and only yourself."
You haven't. You don't the knowledge, the skills, or the balls.
I have and I did.
You huddle here together - a nice safe white enclave and spout your racist garbage in the safety of your clan (or is it Klan?)
I'm expected to do our heavy lifting.
Fuck you.
Fuck you more. How's that asshole? Feel good yet being a pretentious sanctimonious whiny cunt? Shut up and shut the fuck up some more. You yammer and stammer at how ballsy you are for doing what other people don't and honestly, no one gives a shit. People follow paths of least resistance because it's easy. That's how the majority of people are. It's human nature. They are the ones that either tune out, don't care, or would rather get led by the nose, but don't for a fucking second think that you are the only guy that walks against grain.
Heavy lifting? I don't think you even understand what that means anymore.
You're one guy out of all these people and you think that says something? Give me a break. There are 300 million people in this country, with only a smattering of blacks (what? 24 million?) to take whatever's thrown at us. If you don't understand that, then I don't know what to say for you.
As you said, blacks aren't crazy, and we respond to reason. That's been my point all along.
And trying to play "gotcha" is exactly why the news in this country is so shitty.
Crack wrote: You did hear Romney claim the Mormons invented cold fusion, didn't you?
So? A prominent science writer recently claimed that Bill Shockley didn't invent the transistor. Probably because he thought Shockley's racism was a good reason to discredit him.

It's no more impressive when you do it.
OMG you are black? Seriously? Stop the grievance mongering presses. Newsflash, no one gives a shit you are black. In fact, it seems only blacks are the ones that seem to give a shit they are blacks. Film at 11.
"I stand before as Exhibit A that what you say is FALSE. I'm not exceptionally smart. I just chose different fields of study."
No. Not what I said. Crack jumps to the wrong conclusion without thinking critically. Again.
The black "community" isn't going to change. That's not what it's structured to do. The black community is structured to serve. Just like every other organized community. OTOH Black people, white people, thinking people, can change. We must. But we have got to get out of this phony "community" thinking. It's cult-like.
Talking about (about) critical thinking in the abstract accomplishes nothing. It's like people who always say "we need more education" like that's the panacea. No, we don't. Because "education" is owned by the left. Actually thinking critically, questioning authority and pointing out things that don't fit the ruling narrative, that might accomplish something. And you don't have to be "exceptionally smart" although I think breaking out of a cult must take better than average-bear brains. Much better.
Like it or not we are all in the community of man (and woman). We make communities, that is part of being civilized. Being in a community doesn't mean that you've lost your individuality. I know, it's a difficult concept.
Holy Shit. Palladian, I was reading along and there's your "never a black olive" line...I started to laugh. Then came the "sucked black cock" ...man thanks for the chuckle.
Troop I don't think Crack's a racist. Then again, I don't think I am either, and I apparently became one. SO it evens out.
And Crack? I apologize for lumping you in with the grifter. My bad.
It seems only blacks are the ones that seem to give a shit they are blacks.
Yeah, and there's got to be a reason for that. Now what could that be?
Still riding the grievance train. CHOO CHOO. All aboard the whiny bitch caboose.
I forgot - you don't care.
We're going to make a lot of gains as a country with you around,...
The point is you jackass is that I don't care what color people are. Never have, never will. If you are a fucking moron, the color of your skin won't make that any more apparent outside of when you open your mouth to proclaim what a fucking idiot you really are.
When I shook those peoples hands yesterday, it was at a local black church not to far from where I live. Their color was irrelevant to me. They have rented out a dilapidated shopping mall to set up shop and worship the lord. I was actually getting my pizza in the same mall last night and they have several offices surrounding the pizza join, so while I was waiting for the pizza we got to talking. And one thing led to another. I didn't give a shit about the pizza anymore, the discussion became more important because it was about the ideas and the receptiveness by which those folks were willing to listen to those ideas.
I shook each others hands because it was a gesture of peace and fellowship. We all wished each other peace as I got my semi-cold pizza and got into my car. Now tell me, you think they care that I was a cracka then? Nope. You think I cared they were black? Nope. They were smart people willing to listen to an opposing view without getting bent. All but one and I'm sure she got an earful after I left too.
No, no - it's much better to announce how much you don't care about what's important to others, and then attack anyone trying to be empathetic to his fellow Americans.
I have to ask -- if the problems of "black America" (which are really problems of a subset of black America) are due to slavery, why have they steadily gotten worse since the 1960s? The *actual* ex-slaves and children of ex-slaves didn't have a 70% rate of out of wedlock births during the 1870s and 1880s. They didn't commit half the homicides in America.
Don't look to ancient causes for these problems. The causes are modern: the war on drugs on the one hand, and the war on poverty on the other. The latter did immense damage to the cultural institution of marriage by making it (comparatively) easy to raise bastard children alone, while the former lured millions of people into lucrative black-market employment and the prison terms that follow from it.
The American black "underclass" isn't fucked up because of slavery. It is fucked up because of the Nixon and Johnson administrations' dumb ideas about remaking society.
Ok Cody, you can go back to your cave with the bones of your last meal
oddly enough, there's a plate here covered with the picked over carcass of a chicken. The dogs and I feel much better. The cockatiel in the corner is still a little pissed though.
Which automatically means it was irrelevant to THEM?
I've known people who thought it was REALLY IMPORTANT that they were white, and REALLY IMPORTANT that other people weren't. Some of them were of the "white people are just better" mindset, others were of the "I feel so guilty I was born an evil white person" type. I've met people who think blacks are better, Asians are better, Hispanics are better, etc.
The one consistent quality among them is that they've had shit for brains. If your race is a point of pride to you, or a cause for lamentation, you're probably an asshole. Feel pride or shame for the stuff you've DONE, not for your DNA.
Crack: I'm pretty sure Meth didn't say his color was irrelevant to them. I'm pretty sure he only said their color was irrelevant to him.
That's all any of us can do, isn't it?
No, we can be Americans. Why do we have to deny our history to be cool with it? Why is the statement Slavery Has Warped American Culture somehow taken as grievance mongering? White people for the most part didn't have a problem with slavery when it was in full swing - which blows blacks' minds still - but, somehow, I'm supposed to buy that whites miraculously attained some special insight into the perils of my life because they read the DRUDGE REPORT?
I mean, come on, angry or nice, you're not going to take my word for it, so what good are you? How different are you from the image blacks have of whites? You're a white man. Should I be surprised?
Good lord leave off with slavery. I don't own any slaves. No one in my family ever did--any of them, ever.
One member of my family came to this country as an indentured servant (John Howland, off the Mayflower...pretty cool actually. They made him walk on the land here first because they were afraid what might happen). Other more recent members went through the whole Irish Need Not Apply thing.
“I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years. [Touting his underlying intentions for the "Great Society" programs, LBJ confided with two like-minded governors on Air Force One]”
I swear, with no irony, I love that man. Not his programs, but his him and his heart. His style.
That was an American. Now we're fighting so hard not to be that crude we're becoming nothing. It's stupid.
I don't own any slaves. No one in my family ever did--any of them, ever.
Never said you did. But blacks still were. Not women, not gays, and not anybody else who arrives. That's the history that's stained us, alone, until after I was in high school and beyond. You cannot talk away what it's lost for me, what it's made me into, or determine who I would've or could've been if it never occured for me and most blacks to ponder late into the night.

See? You're pointing to two unfortunate souls - not almost your entire people. And those terrible periods came and went. Blacks are just NOW tasting freedom as whites always have, but with a lot less money, and whites think that's all good.
I think Crack is Sui generis. We all face an existential riddle at birth, but he can't go two steps without the sphinx confronting him. I don't think Crack is either part of the problem or part of the solution. He has his own problems and his own solutions. It's like Tipper Gore asking Frank Zappa about why string quartets discriminate in favor of Mozart. Frank Zappa played a string instrument so he should know, right?
Thank you, but here I'm trying not to just speak for myself. I'm trying to explain what we're really talking about.
We all face an existential riddle at birth, but he can't go two steps without the sphinx confronting him.
You guys forget: I was the guy at TOP insisting we don't discuss race. Left a few times over it. Everybody else kept going. Now I'm joining in.
No, I don't face the sphinx because, unlike a lot of blacks, the unique circumstances of my birth has detached me, somewhat, from blacks, whites, slavery, and life itself. I'm trying to get you to understand the black mindset, and nothing more.
Except when I said we shouldn't be ashamed of our heritage, that was mine.
I don't think Crack is either part of the problem or part of the solution. He has his own problems and his own solutions.
I think I have perspective. I was raised by blacks, befriended by whites, and now I watch both in amazement that we can't be country.
As far as I know, I'm one of the few that feel that way, not focusing on the "other side".
Crack: Dude, I've got great family of Tongans on one side of me, and a fire breathing (white) racist on the other side who told me - to my face - he's positive I'm hiding a child molester in my house. Is there anyway you can get the Mormons to keep mowing your lawn? They might, just for the shot of converting the Tongans.
Is there anyway you can get the Mormons to keep mowing your lawn? They might, just for the shot of converting the Tongans.
Naw, he's like 70 years old. His family cuts his lawn. An army. They trim the trees and everything. They stop as a group and hate stare anytime someone walks by who isn't all golly gosh.
The old man's alright, though. We talk. Never about substance. Just across the fence banter about the weather and such. The Tongans are nice. We share tools and they party a lot. Family affairs with lots of kids and laughter until they fall asleep, music still playing until morning.
Never said you did. But blacks still were. Not women, not gays, and not anybody else who arrives. That's the history that's stained us, alone, until after I was in high school and beyond. Serious question: why aren't you responsible for yourself, what you've made yourself and so forth?
Why keep falling back on something that happened a couple of hundred years ago to people you never met?
I'm not saying you should forget about it or try to forget about it or anything like that, but I also don't see what good dwelling on it does anyone. And I mean anyone--you, other black people, the white people you interact with and so forth.
Again, that's a serious question. I probably didn't phrase it particularly neatly, but I think you get what I'm asking.
Again, that's a serious question. I probably didn't phrase it particularly neatly, but I think you get what I'm asking.
As I said, I do O.K., but what do say to my friend who saw his father destroyed by this country fighting for his rights - which hew won after he died?
Go about your life and love your country?
You guys talk naively, like you really don't understand the sweep of history. I was alive during the Civil Rights struggles. What does it say that blacks had to fight for my right to simply talk to you?
Doesn't it make sense that my perspective would be different?
That while you're waving the flag someone else might be more skeptical?
Oh no, I forget, in Conservative World you must slavishly love this country or else - no matter what it's done to you or the ones you love.
As far as I know, I'm one of the few that feel that way, not focusing on the "other side".
Really? Have you read back over some of your comments?
If presenting and defending the black perspective because - let's face it, you can't and won't do it - is, to you, choosing sides then you're part of the problem.
I have repeatedly come back to what we can do to be a country - you haven't. It's all "What about white people?" with you. Well, what about black people? They're outnumbered, in hostile territory, no matter you claim.
You guys get angry just HEARING a differing perspective so how truly unhostile are you?
You demand blacks forget their history - while no demand is made on you. Doesn't have to be. It's never defined you, to yourself or others. Don't you see it's just a whole other thing that basically all you guys can say is "shut up" to - just like liberals do to conservatives?
Does that make you right?
Conservatives always say it makes liberals wrong,...
Vanessa Williams was interviewed for Ancestry.com, one of those places that traces your DNA:
How did you become interested in finding out about your lineage?
I’ve always been interested, but I was introduced to Ancestry.com [one of the websites that help people research their family backgrounds] before I even did a show called “Who Do You Think You Are,” so I signed up as a member to document my own family tree, and my DNA analysis was done as a part of doing the show.
We ended up doing two stories on my father’s side. One of my great-great-grandfathers was a soldier in the Civil War, and the other was born a slave but ended up being an educator and principal, and one of the first black legislators in Tennessee back in 1885. The stories are rich and informative and intriguing, but also as an African American, you don’t always have the luxury to know exactly where your ancestors are from.
What did you find out about your DNA?
My DNA breaks down as follows: I’m 23% from Ghana, 17% from the British Isles, 15% from Cameroon, 12% Finnish, 11% Southern European, 7% Togo, 6% Benin, 5% Senegal and 4% Portuguese.
Now, I can’t wait to go to Ghana and Cameroon and Togo and Senegal — it’s a great opportunity to see why the customs resonate with you. I love to travel and I love to explore, and I have to admit that I was always jealous of people who knew their cultural background.
Crack, I'm pretty sure you're not answering the question I asked.
I'm not talking about civil rights marches so that you could talk to me.
I'm also not talking about you being the spokesman for all black people, I'm just talking about you. Me and you.
I don't give a fuck about the black race. I do however care about people.
I don't presume to speak for all whites. I can only speak for myself.
I'm not talking for conservatives or anyone else. Just me.
I'm also pretty sure I didn't demand blacks forget their history. I'm pretty sure I actually said you shouldn't.
I do however think I said maybe you could stop letting it rule (or appear to rule) everything you do and say, because while you're doing that, you're missing out on today and tomorrow. And the longer you (and that's a general you) do it--the longer it's going to be an issue and the longer it's going to be before everyone gets to be just an American like you say you want.

I repeat:
I DON'T. You may not really know me from TOP so you wouldn't know how often I told the others to drop it (Ask Troop) but THEY didn't - and never have as this thread proves.
The "problem" is a black perspective arrived to counter the nonsense you guys talk about us.
Or would you be talking about your .45 and shooting blacks on a black themed blog? Face it:
This conversation went there, so I'm not going to talk about black people dishonestly, as whatever makes the rest of you comfortable just for that. We are what we are.
You say you don't, but every post says something different.
And yes, I'd say I was armed and willing to defend myself or another on a black blog (whatever that is exactly).
Why not? I'm not ashamed of my beliefs and feelings. Should I be?
But it always comes back to "you guys" with you. You're an individual, but I'm not allowed that luxury.
But it's okay.
Thanks for a fun time, Crackers. It's about time for me to get off the computer today.
Tomorrow I get to visit Moms...she's been bedridden over a month now after breaking all three bones in her ankle. She's getting cabin fever. Can't blame her, but it's tiring. Know what I mean, pal? LOL
It always comes back to "you guys" with you. You're an individual, but I'm not allowed that luxury.
Because you're not standing alone - you've got 300 million friends who, I'm sure, will eventually show up to say how depraved and wrong blacks are about their own lives. Because of Shorty and anything else you can think of.
It amounts to "shut up" and nobody truly free owes you that.
I'll understand if, as a white man, that's an unusual concept coming from a black person.
I think the emigrant Irish in America, Canada, and Australia were able to press the reset button, forget past wrongs, and move on with their lives. In Ireland, the resentment against past English wrongs was so distorting that it sentenced the Irishto another few generations of poverty. The Irish nationalists thought that everything evil and ugly in Ireland was an English import. Hardly, but they thought that if the Irish spoke Gaelic, lived on small farms, and went to Church on Sunday, everyone would be happy as hobbits. That's not the way it worked out. The peak years of Irish emigration were not during the famine but during the fifties. The English did many things wrong in Ireland, and one of the worst was to convince the Irish that it wasn't their fault.........As I say, after a generation or two in America, the reset button is pressed, and we're free to develop our own grudges instead of those of our grandparents. I suppose it's liberating but it doesn't take long to develop one's own crippling resentments.......At any rate, the reset button is not available for American blacks. Like the Irish I think that they will find their grudges are more binding than their former restraints, but they're stuck with them.
Okay, Rev, since you say it's dumb way to read what you wrote, and you wrote it was Johnson and Nixon's fault...what was dumb about it? Nixon didn't do the great society thing
The two problems I cited were the expansion of welfare and the war on drugs. I blamed Nixon and Johnson for this. Nixon launched the war on drugs, Johnson the expansion of welfare.
Like the Irish I think that they will find their grudges are more binding than their former restraints, but both were forced on them, with no outlet, by rich jailers who now want be neighbors - offering "help" - while they spend our ancestor's wealth.
"Also I would like to say that Cody Jarrett is a good man and a friend of mine and he is not a racist."
Trooper York's friend, Cody Jarrett is a coward and a racist. Just like Trooper York is. They might even be the very same Jim, hiding behind two of his many masks.
Meanwhile, it turns out that one of Lane’s shooters posted a series of tweets over the past few months that expressed animus toward whites, even proclaiming that he’s “knocked [sic] out” white people. In April, 15-year-old James Edwards tweeted, “90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM.” After the Zimmerman verdict, referring to white people as “woods,” Edwards tweeted: “Ayeee I knocced out 5 woods since Zimmerman court!:)”
But liar leftwing a-hole MSN reports that race/Treyvon revenge had nothing to do with it.
The Denver Post, which is now a joke-- basically MSNBC on paper - an arm and mouthpiece for the democrat party-- insists that ... "Many argue that the ground gained by minorities during the civil rights years has largely been lost, and...
Yep - all gone. Blacks can't vote or go to school or drink out of the water fountains or ride the buses. They are all kept down by the man! Amazingly, this all occurred under the rule of first black president.
More of the same pathetic anti-logic from the left. But hey -whatever inspires anger for their cause, the lies and propaganda are all worth it.
The dominate leftwing press must be held to account. The dominate leftwing media must apologize for all of their lies. The dominate leftwing press must insist everyone clam down and stop the racial anger and revenge killing on behalf of the very lies and manipulations perpetrated by said media that caused the anger and emotions to boil over.
When I shook those peoples hands yesterday, it was at a local black church not to far from where I live. Their color was irrelevant to me.
Which automatically means it was irrelevant to THEM?
The one white guy that tried to talk to them??
You talk like an idiot sometimes.
Antoinette Tuff Had Empathy for the Georgia School Gunman. We Can Learn a Lot From Her..
No, no - it's much better to announce how much you don't care about what's important to others, and then attack anyone trying to be empathetic to his fellow Americans.
That's the Methadras ticket to success,...
All I can say to this is, is that once you see past your blackness and color, then you will be free. Right now you are mentally shackled. And yes, I used the word shackled on purpose.
Those folks I talked to, I don't believe cared what color I was either and if they did, they didn't say. And like I said in a prior post, I wasn't the only white guy their, so who's talking like an idiot now? Seriously, do yourself a favor sometimes and just think beyond yourself when it comes to the level of melanin in your skin and how it relates to those you interact with. Not everyone cares. I certainly don't, but the shit that comes out of your mouth is what matters more. Stop being a tool that you proclaim others are. The color thing doesn't fly with me. Empathy is reserved for those that deserve it. Try to come and commandeer my empathy. Let's see how far that gets you or anyone else.
Shit, the government already takes my compassion at near the top marginal rate, but thank God my CPA is a part French Black Mexican Iranian Jew. I don't know what I would do without him.
Fucking epiphany right here after I posted my thread. I just realized that this discussion I'm having with crack is like the arguments I have with my wife when she brings up all the other shit we argued about in our 20+ years together when I thought we were arguing about who has to take the trash out.
You can't win when you are assaulted in this way. No amount of counterpoint will do you any good when the shot gun blast of every argument you ever had with someone comes back to hit you in the face.
"can we just talk about this one thing?
"No, it's all about this this this this this this this this that and this."
It comes at you like a god damned avalanche. You can't fight it, you can't even ski past it cause it will just follow you when you try to walk away. That's what arguing with crack is like when it comes to him being black and tying all of his ancestral history to slavery. As if I should be seeing him booking flights to England, the Carribean, Holland, or even Africa to read the riot act to all of those folks for their role in it and getting to America last after he's all done. Nope, you can't win against the onslaught of the sins of the fathers when it comes to the perpetual grievance class and industry.

The issue is the false consciousness engineered by the media and you
bust out the racial drama, starring the one and only Wise Crack who knows all.
Those white people, THOSE RACIST DUPES, couldn't possibly understand. They've never had to fight an uphill battle against a false media narrative, never experienced any random violence or discrimination, never lifted anything heavy, never had to worry about going into a wrong neighborhood or being beaten for looking at someone "funny."
Or jogging by their house.
"Isn't this thread the sort of thing that we came here to get away from?"
Obviously not. But it is a perfect example of what "TOP" is delighted to be free from.
The left media slants left and the right media slants right, it's up to everyday folks to think for themselves, that's what I say C Stanley.
Pogo,
I went to meetings about local and national issues, spoke my mind, hell, repeated some stuff I read on your blog.
I'm back where I was. Snake eyes.
Now what?
I remember being dragged to a political meeting where this guy thought I would do so much good.
It was completely dominated by a guy who kept yelling "SHARK!" at no one in particular.
I loved it. Not much of a meeting, though.
Look, you can support what I do - going into the belly of the beast - or James Randi's JREF, or any other people supporting critical thinking.
The GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan was just appointed to teach science to kids (That's a biggie) and more.
You just gotta get out of this loop that's been set up for us to fail.
Pogo,
You are absolutely correct.
Now YOU'RE AWESOME!
But how?
It's thinking, Pogo, it's easy.
Our local schools won't tell them, the colleges make them worse, the legislators endorse uncritical thinking, and Hollywood cements it in place.
And I'm a Rapper. Hmmmm. Somehow, we get past all that bullshit, and tell kids shit directly. And they listen.
I'm just a crank with a small lawn and too many ways into my house.
No you're not, you're fucking brilliant in my book.
Always has been. Hug your wife for me.
We'll straighten this shit out,...
And even if it pisses you off, Crack, I'm praying for your back to get better.
"You seriously think if Obama wouldn't be President this shitstorm wouldn't stink as badly?"
Yes. Things would not have been nearly this bad under McCain.
"So, what, are you super human Pogo?"
Is onanism a super-power?

Obviously not. But it is a perfect example of what "TOP" is delighted to be free from.
And oddly enough, here you are, stirring the shit and rolling around in it.
Seems to me if you were so fucking delighted to be free of it--you'd stay clear of it.
More lies from little larry the grifting lawnboy.
Pogo,
Shit, Crack, you'd be the best neighbor ever.
And I'm so cool, somehow, I'm making it work,...
Well that's good (seriously), Pogo and Crack.
I wouldn't know Pogo, I don't engage in such depravity.
And I'm so cool, somehow, I'm making it work,...
as cool as the other side of the pillow?
Pogo,
14. Times. More.
Inga? What say you?
I say numbers can mean shit. I live with these guys. The forces at work on black men and boys are enormous.
ENORMOUS.
That doesn't excuse anything, but since they're not "black" to me but people - my friends and family - I know the burdens they bear.
Many here might claim there's no such thing but they'd be wrong....
Haven't you heard, April? It's all my fault.
Crack and lawnboy agree.
C Stanley,
No, I'm sorry for picking nits and clearly you are arguing for teaching of morals. Maybe I need for you to expand on what you mean by critical thinking skills because I relate that to cognitive thinking, not emotional regulation, impulse control, and imparting values..
They all spring from it. I thought Bill Whittle gave an excellent demonstration of it in this piece, explaining why capitalism is better than communism.
El Pollo Raylan,
And I say that any black person or black leader who demonizes white people for the past slave trade, or who extracts reparations from living people who only have white skins is just as wrong.
Inga,
You seriously think if Obama wouldn't be President this shitstorm wouldn't stink as badly?
Yes. From suggesting John McCain was a racist until now, I see nothing Obama's done to help. Only hurt.
He got lucky with Trayvon, that whites went overboard to the black reaction. That gave him cover.
But he's been wrong since before Day One.
He lied to us,...
Pogo,
And even if it pisses you off, Crack, I'm praying for your back to get better.
Thanks. Send money. Seven weeks in bed ain't exactly productive.
Cody Jarrett,
After a while you reach a point where you'll try about anything.
My landlady's a chiropractor.
Touchy subject around here,...
Cody Jarrett,
as cool as the other side of the pillow?
Attaboy,...
Also I would like to say that Cody Jarrett is a good man and a friend of mine and he is not a racist.
Especially since that word has lost all meaning these days.
@ Crack
Also the Crack Emcee is a good man and a friend of mine. He is also not a racist.
But then I have a soft spot for him because I like colored people.
Cody Jarrett,
Haven't you heard, April? It's all my fault.
Crack and lawnboy agree.
Now, now - don't put me with Meade.
He's in a class by himself,..
I know that Cody would hit Halle Berry, Beyoncé, Eva Mendes and Gabrielle Union.
So how could he be a racist?
Amartel,
The black "community" is not going to solve its problems. I stand before as Exhibit A that what you say is FALSE. I'm not exceptionally smart. I just chose different fields of study.
We can change,...
Lydia,
That yearning for a better life, but not knowing how to attain it is just plain sad.
I agree. Whites, for the most part, take it for granted blacks know the same things they do. They're always surprised we've never been skiing, or horseback riding, or sailing (which I'd never done until 3 years ago). They also think we know what taxes are, or how insurance works, or a whole world of shit we merely fake understanding.
Slavery STILL has it's effects,...
It's true Crack. It's stuff that we just assume you guys get. Like reading. Or tipping. It's just not a black thing.
On the other hand we fish bellied white motherfuckers can't dunk or tap dance so it all sort of evens out in the long run.
El Pollo Raylan,
Crack: Do you remember the time when you went off the rails on Althouse and attacked the religion of the guy who tried to save Jews in Poland and Germany during WW II?
Yep - and I'd do it again. Christian Scientists deprive children of blood transfusions. I am unwavering on religions that hurt children for Jesus or anything else.
I watched you smear and disgrace Obama's main challenger during the 2012 race based only -- as far as I could tell -- on the man's religion. This is why I can never take you seriously my friend.
Don't - I'd rather have this country in Obama's fucked-up hands than in the clutches of the Mormons.
You did hear Romney claim the Mormons invented cold fusion, didn't you?
Here's an account of what actually happened. Read the whole thing, when the scientists start laughing.
The man's insane and I'm glad he's done,...

Now I know Methadras is not a racist. He would do Halle Berry and Pam Grier.
In fact he would do Oprah or Raven Symone.
Cause that is just the kind of guy he is.
Methadras,
You're one guy out of all these people and you think that says something? Give me a break. There are 300 million people in this country, with only a smattering of blacks (what? 24 million?) to take whatever's thrown at us. If you don't understand that, then I don't know what to say for you.
As you said, blacks aren't crazy, and we respond to reason. That's been my point all along.
And trying to play "gotcha" is exactly why the news in this country is so shitty.
It's no more impressive when you do it.
Fuck you.
I like my "Fuck you" straight up.
Sometimes with an anchovy-stuffed olive.
No black olives, though.
Crack wrote: You did hear Romney claim the Mormons invented cold fusion, didn't you?
So? A prominent science writer recently claimed that Bill Shockley didn't invent the transistor. Probably because he thought Shockley's racism was a good reason to discredit him.
I think we can all agree that Shockley was a racist.
So I got one white guys who's spoken to a black person - any others?
Last thing I read, 40% of whites had NO - NO - black friends.
What's 40% of 300 million?
Enough to make my life a trial, that's for sure.

No. Not what I said.
Crack jumps to the wrong conclusion without thinking critically. Again.
The black "community" isn't going to change. That's not what it's structured to do. The black community is structured to serve. Just like every other organized community.
OTOH
Black people, white people, thinking people, can change.
Palladian,
I've sucked some black cock. Of course, so have a lot of people, in one way or another.

I've said the same thing - Cult Of Obama anybody?
But, at times like this, when blacks feel the walls closing in, it's perfectly understandable.
300 million is a LOT of "fellow citizens" to take shit from, stupid,...
Like it or not we are all in the community of man (and woman). We make communities, that is part of being civilized. Being in a community doesn't mean that you've lost your individuality. I know, it's a difficult concept.

Methadras,
When I shook those peoples hands yesterday, it was at a local black church not to far from where I live.
Why are you blaming Nixon for what Kennedy started and Johnson finished?
Then again, that's fashionable--look how often Nix gets blame for veetnam.
PS Crack: I'm pretty sure Meth didn't say his color was irrelevant to them. I'm pretty sure he only said their color was irrelevant to him.
That's all any of us can do, isn't it?
Ok Cody, you can go back to your cave with the bones of your last meal
oddly enough, there's a plate here covered with the picked over carcass of a chicken. The dogs and I feel much better. The cockatiel in the corner is still a little pissed though.
And no, it wasn't fried chicken.
Why are you blaming Nixon for what Kennedy started and Johnson finished?
That's a dumb reading of what I wrote.
Cody,
Crack: I'm pretty sure Meth didn't say his color was irrelevant to them.
You're simply not trying,...
I don't know how different I am, Crack.
Looks like I missed the fire works.
Cody Jarrett,
“I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.
Like I said, this ain't where MLK was headed,...
Cody Jarrett,
I don't know how different I am, Crack.
Me neither.
Good lord leave off with slavery.
No - it is the central fact of black history.
One member of my family came to this country as an indentured servant (John Howland, off the Mayflower...pretty cool actually. They made him walk on the land here first because they were afraid what might happen). Other more recent members went through the whole Irish Need Not Apply thing.
See? You're pointing to two unfortunate souls - not almost your entire people. And those terrible periods came and went. Blacks are just NOW tasting freedom as whites always have, but with a lot less money, and whites think that's all good.
Just callous on top of everything else,...
William,
I think Crack is Sui generis.
I've got a hardcore Mormon across the street, who stays concerned about my lawn, and across from him is a white lady who rents rooms in her house to a steady stream of black guys who have no visible means of support except visitors who have never adjusted the bass in their cars.
Is there anyway you can get the Mormons to keep mowing your lawn? They might, just for the shot of converting the Tongans.
Evi L. Bloggerlady,
Is there anyway you can get the Mormons to keep mowing your lawn? They might, just for the shot of converting the Tongans.
Naw, he's like 70 years old. His family cuts his lawn. An army. They trim the trees and everything. They stop as a group and hate stare anytime someone walks by who isn't all golly gosh.
The old man's alright, though. We talk. Never about substance. Just across the fence banter about the weather and such. The Tongans are nice. We share tools and they party a lot. Family affairs with lots of kids and laughter until they fall asleep, music still playing until morning.
Good neighbors.
Crickey! 309 comments! I saw it earlier today at 132 or so comments and thought that was too much.
But now that it's over three hundred the question is: Can it get to 400? Will I stay up all night and FORCE it over 400?
Signs point to "Who cares? Not me." for the first question, and "NO." for the second.
But what the fuck:
YO! Three-hundredth-and-eleventh, bitchez!
As far as I know, I'm one of the few that feel that way, not focusing on the "other side".
Really? Have you read back over some of your comments?
Is this the wood thread?
Is this the wood thread?
There's certainly a lot of dickishness.
Cody Jarrett,
Again, that's a serious question.
No time to get over it, either,....
Cody Jarrett,
As far as I know, I'm one of the few that feel that way, not focusing on the "other side".
Cody Jarrett,
I do however think I said maybe you could stop letting it rule (or appear to rule) everything you do and say, because while you're doing that, you're missing out on today and tomorrow.
You deal or you don't,...
LOL
Later man. Feel better.
Cody Jarrett,
It always comes back to "you guys" with you.
It's new - live with it for a while,...
Not complicated, really.
William,
Like the Irish I think that they will find their grudges are more binding than their former restraints, but both were forced on them, with no outlet, by rich jailers who now want be neighbors - offering "help" - while they spend our ancestor's wealth.
FIFY
Race not a factor! At MSN, We promise!
Another Treyvon Martin Revenge Murder you won't hear about in the dominate leftwing mainstream press.
Larry woke up hung over and angry.
Leisure Suit Larry is not having any fun over at the Evil Blogger Lady's failing blog so he has to come over here to stir the shit.
Anytime someone dies senselessly in a Treyvon revenge killing, the media is to blame.
The media pulled the trigger.
NBC, the 9/11 tape doctoring farce of a "news" organization - pulled the trigger.
Brian Ross pulled the trigger, banged the flashlight, stabbed the knife.
