Why is the word "Container" necessary in this headline>

Dang..first the Moozie Brotherhood gets stiffed on the F-16's, and now Al-Qaeda's little gift gets lost in shipping.

Whats an appeasing brother to do?

Does no one see the hypocrisy of Urkle arming AQ Rebels to fight for their freedom (what a laughable notion) while at the same time trying to deny Americans from being armed to maintain their own? If this man who we call a president isn't a traitor to his country, then I don't know what is.

The interesting questions....

Why is the US arming Syrian rebels, who are wither MB or AQ and every bit as bad as the Syrian dictator?

Who knew the weapons were on the ship?

Of those who knew, who had the ability to sink the ship on a covert basis?

Which state would have been seriously damaged if those weapons were turned on it?

My guess: Israel and Mossad.

And...is anyone in Congress sufficiently awake to try to stop this kind of shit?

I bet the terorists hate it when their contraband shit just "breaks apart" for no reason.

Holy Guacamole.

I suggest we replace the arms with McCain, Lindsey G, and a container of Mexican Firecrackers.

There is even argument as to who owns the ship.

This source says Japan.

The New Indian Express thinks it originated from Singapore, and also reports this:

The doomed ship was carrying a cargo of 4,500 containers from Singapore to Jeddah.

The cause of the disaster, details of the ship's ownership and type of cargo on board were not immediately known.

Indian Coast Guard Rescues 26 crew from ship wreck

Given that The New Indian Express has been in business longer, has advertisers that sort of keep it in check and is closer in proximity to the story--

I would lean towards there report.

I think we need to start making a jumping-to-conclusions doormat.

Should come in handy.

I would lean towards *their* report.

I'm in the "serendipity" camp.

Looks like an overloaded pos barge to me. Somewhat typical in that part of the world.

"Run till fail" school of maintenance.

All of that hubub are the Arab sites talking. They see a ship break and automatically assume it is US arms to Syrian rebels.

Did you read the item of the hawk being x-rayed because they are certain the hawk is implanted with top secret spy devices? It had an Israeli university leg crimp.

I get confused, maybe even here.

I've seen military supplies transported in caravan on US highways and on US bases and it looks nothing at all like ordinary ship containers. I suppose it is possible but I think it unlikely. More likely they're jumping to conclusions, as they do.

Yes, if I were Israel, I'd want Assad in charge.

Could have just as easily been Russia or Iran. For some reason I'm thinking Russia.

They will just go off prematurely anyway, and the firecrackers won't be anymore effective.

I wonder how fun it would be to be a shipwreck salvage. I hear you can pull some serious shit from the bottom of the ocean and it's all yours cause it's in international waters. And stuff.

Why would we be shipping arms to *Jeddah* for distribution to Syrian rebels? If we wanted to quickly move arms to Syria from the south, they could transfer out of Jordanian stockpiles and re-supply those arsenals via legitimate channels, or, alternatively, through Turkey and NATO channels. At the absolutely dodgiest worst, they'd be shipped in via Aqaba or Sidon or Beirut, not through the gorram Magic Kingdom. You'd have to smuggle them again through Jordan that way.

This is that container ship that broke up the other month? The only reason to think it was carrying arms is if you're one of those Middle Easterners who is a terminal conspiracy theorist and needed to fit the incident into the grand conspiracies of conspiracies. In other words, half the population at any given time...

It's more fun, but is more stressful.

I have a hypothesis that the mind and human body cannot handle information overload.

I'm not easily expressing this.

Collecting information I think is linked to survival--and the survival instinct.

That has possibly in the age of terrorism made people addicted to news--but in the Information Age with 24/7 news coverage--it is overload.

IOW--you cannot possible do anything with or about the news you receive.

It is sensory overload.

It causes a sense of helplessness, it causes stress, it possibly ups your cortisol levels and you end up with a beer gut.

Just call it the--

Information Age Beer Gut Hypothesis-

or another reason why I am not responsible for my own weight issues, natch.

I remember reading about this when it happened from other sources.

rcocean, it is a container ship...but then again most freighters are container ships.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Did the Israelis sabotage the ship? Or is it just a coincidence?

Hmmm.

You're Right EBL - Headlines for Dummies.

After all it could have been a Clipper ship, a whaling ship, or possibly the QE2.

Send Mexican headhunters instead. And I don't me HR types, either.
