Thomas Hart Benton

If I could paint and if I could see color I would aspire to paint like Thomas Hart Benton did. I really enjoy his work.

This is a detail from a painting he did of his son and his son's dog Jake. Words fail me.

But lacking any literary or artistic ability I take pictures of my dogs:

Those are my dogs being goofballs in the grapevine.

I always think of the Senator from Manifest Destiny.

Thanks, XRay - they were certainly having fun that day. Right now they are out in the backyard enjoying a spring rain.

When Benton painted his son's dog he said that the dog was always smiling. Non-dog owners may not get that, but those of us who know, know.

You bet, dogs surely have expressive faces, perhaps not the full range of humans, but then they don't need that, what they have works.
