I suspect he's done this before. There are a ton of videos of pet owners punking their pets with masks. The dogs are very suspicious. Even after they get the scent, the large dogs rip off the mask and attempt to tear it apart. Others remain wary, bark at it, growl, and withdraw. Small dogs and cats just freak out. But these dogs are all, yay, here he is again. (Let's pull off his mask)
The pets know who you are by smell. You're not fooling them. I think dogs just get excited when the pack leader wants to play. Group participation! Pile on Dad!!
