Relax. It will work out.

My last post made me think of a song and realize that things will work out. One way or the other.  So to de-stress, I'm having a drink and listening to Jimmy Webb.....ahhhhh relax.

Living in California really isn't all bad when you can look at views like this from a nearby bluff. I took this several years ago when we were just driving around our area for an afternoon out.  Our valley is to the left about 25 miles.
Where the hills are winter green.
We just try to forget about the rest of this messed up State and concentrate on what we have.  That's all you can do without going crazy.

Isn't that a volcano in the picture?

Yes. Mt Shasta. We live to the East of the mountain.

Gorgeous mountain! I love visiting your area of California and often stop over on my way north. Once Shasta appears on the horizon I know the long slog up the valley on I-5 is almost over. I've done some camping and hiking in the area so I guess I'm one of your "tourons" but - I hope - not the irritating kind. One of these days I'm going to climb that sucker. It's good to see it still so snow-covered at this time of the year, too, though you're probably pretty sick of the cold weather by now.

I was thinking that Shasta was the southernmost volcano in the Cascades, but a quick check of a map turned up Lassen. Yep, I have been away from that beautiful area for far too long.

oopsy, a lot of people were saying it was over when Roberts wouldn't kill ZippyCare outright and yet here it's being gutted as we speak.

I wouldn't panic just yet.

I just now realized Travis is very close to where my brother lives in Concord, and previously, Antioch.

This whole time I thought it was south of S.F.

I have good memories of that place. We were there twice. I would have liked to have stayed. It's beautiful in a Spartan simplified clean way. And the weather is always perfect.

Were were mightily impressed, the television shows were entirely in English! Wild Wild West, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres Mission Impossible, what? You have to pay attention to that show or you're lost. We stayed in a very long building like a motel. The whole place blue sky and green grass and exotic palms.

It's a big base. They do lots of things.

Also, Freddy Goes to Hollywood, so Relax, don't do it.

I'm relaxed. The weather in Houston is nice. Occasional hurricanes, but we can take care of ourselves. And now the we produce oil and gas like Saudi Arabia; I feel pretty good about the near term prospects. Chillin' and makin' Chili.

I thought Shasta was a really crappy soda.

Who knew?
