Mariah Carey shared some wise words (and signature shade) for tour mate Lionel Richie, who is reportedly in talks to judge the rebooted “American Idol.”
“I would say, ‘don’t do it,'” Carey, 47, told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday.
The singer, who was a member of the judging panel with nemesis Nicki Minaj for season 12 in 2013, quickly backtracked … but only somewhat.
“No, I’m only kidding,” she said. “If he wants to do it, that’ll be great. I think he would be really good at it. I think he should just stick with his commercials for Tetley's Tea and leave it to nasty bitches like that dirty Rican and that Australian goober."
The “Fantasy” singer previously described her brief time on “Idol” as “boring and fake,” calling it “the worst experience of [her] life.”
Carey also said that the show’s set was “an unsafe work environment” due to her feud with Minaj, leading her to beef up her security team.
It was rumored that during her tenure, producers were plotting behind Carey’s back to replace her with Jennifer Lopez on the panel, much like Carey’s ex-husband Tommy Mottola replaced Carey with J.Lo on his management roster.
“They just were trying to foil me when I went on there,” Carey said. “So, you know, that’s the only reason why I say that. But I decided to be the bigger person.
