WKRLEM:Don Mclean: The three men I admire most....OJ, Robert Blake and William Shatner.

New York Post, March 9, 2017

American Pie” singer Don McLean says he has had no contact with his ex-wife for more than a year and will obey the terms of an order of protection she received in court.
A Maine court granted an order of protection for Patrisha McLean on Wednesday. Don McLean pleaded guilty in July to domestic violence assault.

Don McLean says he has moved on. He avoided jail time after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the January 2016 arrest at his home in Camden on the Maine coast.
Patrisha McLean says she hopes the case will motivate people to support organizations that serve victims of domestic abuse.
McLean’s best-known album is “American Pie” from 1971. It includes the chart-topping title song as well as the song “Vincent,” which also charted.

Fitting Ivanka's drain seems like a fun day.

So he sold the original manuscript and notes for his big (ridiculous, boring, I hate it) song in 2015 so his wife and children would have a legacy. $1.2 million. Then in January 2016 she sicced the cops on him for domestic violence (to which he pled guilty and paid a $3,000 fine) for having a tantrum for hours (she later noted he'd had a violent temper for decades) and filed for divorce in March after 27 years of marriage. Different ways to read this, neither good for either spouse:
1. She finally saw actual evidence of a pot of gold at the end of the filthy hippie rainbow and turbo-accelerated her newly moneyed freedom
2. He's a lifelong self-indulgent prick with a fragile ego that she'd put up with for almost 30 years so she decided to cash out after a particularly unnerving ragey tantrum.
Moral: Hippies may talk the talk but rarely ever walk the walk.

Armatel, the quote used in two generations of divorce in my family was "It was finally worth divorcing you".

Yeah, the timeline tends to indicate that was the case here.

Doesn't he know that Pope is now going to let him become a priest even though he is married?

I guess anyone can admire whoever (whomever?) he pleases. No explanation called for. Do I admire anyone? No, not really. I'm grateful for some. Soupy Sales for example.
