The long list of Obama wiretaps

Via Drudge:  It is not unfounded that former President Obama would wire tap President Trump during the election process. This is because he has done this before. Here is a list of individuals who were wire tapped by the Obama Administration.

WikiLeaks released the following list on February 23rd (see link here) of Obama Administration wire taps:

* The US National Security Agency bugged a private climate change strategy meeting; between UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin;

* Obama bugged Chief of Staff of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for long term interception targetting his Swiss phone;

* Obama singled out the Director of the Rules Division of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Johann Human, and targetted his Swiss phone for long term interception;

* Obama stole sensitive Italian diplomatic cables detailing how Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu implored Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to help patch up his relationship with US President Barack Obama, who was refusing to talk to Netanyahu;

* Obama intercepted top EU and Japanese trade ministers discussing their secret strategy and red lines to stop the US “extort[ing]” them at the WTO Doha arounds (the talks subsequently collapsed);

* Obama explicitly targeted five other top EU economic officials for long term interception, including their French, Austrian and Belgium phone numbers;

* Obama explicitly targetted the phones of Italy’s ambassador to NATO and other top Italian officials for long term interception; and

* Obama intercepted details of a critical private meeting between then French president Nicolas Sarkozy, Merkel and Berluscon, where the latter was told the Italian banking system was ready to “pop like a cork”.

In addition to the above list we also know now that Obama wire tapped various individuals in the US media that were reporting information not flattering to the Obama Administration. It is widely known that Obama’s Justice Department targeted journalists with wiretaps in 2013:

* In 2013 the liberal Washington Post expressed outrage after the revelation that the Justice Department had investigated the newsgathering activities of a Fox News reporter as a potential crime in a probe of classified leaks. The reporter, Fox News’ James Rosen and his family, were part of an investigation into government officials anonymously leaking information to journalists. Rosen was not charged but his movements and actions were tracked.

* Also in 2013, members of the Associated Press were also a target of the surveillance. The ultra liberal New Yorker even noted that “In moderate and liberal circles, at least, the phone-records scandal, partly because it involves the dear old A.P. and partly because it raises anew the specter of Big Brother, may well present the most serious threat to Obama’s reputation.”

* Reporter Sharyl Attkisson said in 2014 that her personal computer and CBS laptop were hacked after she began filing stories about Benghazi that were unflattering to the Obama administration. A source who checked her laptop said the hacker used spyware “proprietary to a government agency,” according to an article in the New York Post.

Obama is no stranger to wire tapping. His administration tapped phones and computers of friends and foe alike.

It took a couple of years for Watergate details to emerge.

Over one weekend, this thing has gotten past the "nobody denies it happened" stage.

I think we've passed critical mass to the point it can't be covered up simply because too many people from Democrats (who better hire food tasters) to Whigs looking to CYA are conceding its veracity.

YMMV

The big questions now are does this extend to both families of La Cosa Nostra and who else knew - Ryan, McConnell, Grahamnesty, Junior?

I'm on the fly../ anyone listening to Rush today?

I know it comes on at different times.

He mentioned some NYT guy named Michael Schmidt (or smith?) who - back in January wrote an article about Trump being under surveillance for his suspected Russian ties.

Today? - same NYT dude says it's crazy to suggest that Trump was being spied on.

I'll leave it to others to dig it all up.

ricpic said...

Rush keeps asking whether it's reasonable or unreasonable to suspect that the Deep State is spying on Trump? The history of leaks would indicate it's reasonable. And if it's reasonable why isn't the MSM calling for an investigation based on Trump's tweets that Bammy was wiretapping him?

This has me unsettled. Trump had better be right about this, having tweeted these accusations. And even if he is right, I don't think he should have tweeted it. I don't like his lack of self control on Twitter and never have.

I think, if proof of this accusation doesn't not materialize, he has doomed his credibility beyond repair. That matters.

That said, my gut says this happened. And the worse thing would be to know it happened - similar to the crimes of Benghazi - and find Republicans fail to hold anyone accountable for it.

Trooper York said...

You can bet it happened Darcy. The Democrats and media will make all kinds of excuses. The fact remains that Obama tapped the phones and computers of a Presidential candidate of the opposing party. Why would you think he should not tweet about it? You know if he mentioned it in a press conference the media would lie and filter and suppress this information. By tweeting it he threw it out there like a turd in the punchbowl. They have to react. They have to explain. They can't just leak out that there are transcripts showing that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. They have to tell us where these "transcripts" came from or shut up about it.

Trump is fighting back. Fighting dirty. Putting the Jug Eared Jesus front and center. It is the only way.

In the meantime he is pushing the travel ban today and soon the Obamacare replacement. He is distracting the media hounds. I think it is a good move.

The media's accused him of all kinds of credibility problems and whose cred is worse off today?

Clearly there's something to it. We've already seen postings of legal documents, attempts to get a judge to sign off, even a front page piece in the Gray Lady.

And keep something else in mind. If Lynch knew it was happening and Comey knew it, does anybody really think the Mocha Messiah and ValJar didn't?

Even if Hitler's signature wasn't on any of the Wannsee documents, does anybody think the Allies wouldn't have still put him up at Nuremburg?

Having been regaled for months now with speculation ominously based on Facts Not Available At This Time that Trump & Co. are conspiring with Russians I'm in the Probably True camp with regard to Trump's wiretapping claims. Also due to Obama's history of sneaking and getting away with it - why wouldn't he do whatever the hell he wanted to do? Who gonna check him?
And I definitely worry that the establishment will try to sweep this under the rug if true, regardless of whether it's Watergate x 1000. Wouldn't want precious King Putt to look bad. Notice how there's been no talk since the election about going after Hillary for crimes we all know she committed. This band corruptocrat whores gets a pass every time.

What I fear is that Trump will get pissed and start to press the issue.

The Deep State and the Duopoly will not stand for that. You assimilate or you are destroyed.

Right now they are trying their usual tricks. If that doesn't work who knows how low they will sink?

edutcher said...

He has to press the issue or they will destroy him. I think the words "special prosecutor" will come back into our lexicon very soon.

He's rocking the boat way too much and they have to get rid of him. the only way to survive is to nail them first.

Agreed. One of the basic principles of war is concentrate your combat power at a time and place where it matters most. He will have them chasing several objectives at the same time and dispersing their effort (remember how I said this time last year he was paying attention in tactics class?).

And he has to fight back. We saw what happened to Bush pere et fils when the Deep State went after them and they just sat there like the gentlemen they are.

Darcy said...

I think it is smarter to keep your friends close and your enemies closer until you have them dead to rights. Now he's got everyone in CYA mode, and if this bomb went off prematurely, it will most likely backfire.

I do not have a problem with Trump taking his message to the masses via Twitter. The wiretapping tweets are a different type of communication than that. But I have zero say in this. Just have a feeling of foreboding about it. I think they were written in anger and that rarely turns out well.

So far he has come out okay with this itchy trigger finger he has. That doesn't mean it is always going to be that way.

edutcher said...

If Trump didn't have the goods, this wouldn't have started.

I mean, at some point, somebody told him, "You've got a tap on your line".

As for angry, he probably is. At least, Christopher Ruddy of Newsmax says so., but listen to the man's own words, “This will be investigated, it will all come out. I will be proven right.”.

Darcy, you want to know if Trump is right on this? Then all you have to do is look at the sheer cockroach scattering of the leftists running to Obama's defense to fall on their own swords for this guy in defending how he couldn't have possibly have done something like that. That the mere suggestion is unworthy of Trump and how dare he, blah blah blah. Democrats always give their game away in the vociferous nature of their denials. Republicans just back down. Trump is coming out swinging. He's laid the trap, democrats are walking in it. Now they have to deny that Obama hasn't done it and now they have to produce data that shows he didn't when there is clear and ample historical evidence that he is utterly capable of it and most likely did it.

If you read this piece (h/t PowerLine), , you come to this quote But have you noticed? While all this head-spinning legal jibber-jabber goes back and forth, the foundation of the false narrative we’ve been hearing since November 8 has vanished. Now that we’re supposed to believe there was no real investigation of Trump and his campaign, what else can we conclude but that there was no real evidence of collusion between the campaign and Russia . . . which makes sense, since Russia did not actually hack the election, so the purported objective of the collusion never existed.

As they say, RTWT,

Methadras said...

Ed, even Obama came out in December of 2016 and said that Russia played no part in hacking the election. The NYT even admits it.

http://yournewswire.com/obama-russia-did-not-hack-elections/

Now it's all a diversionary tactic when Trump accuses their mulatto god of doing the very thing he's been doing since he's been the WH. For the leftists hypocrisy only goes one way.

edutcher said...

What he said then isn't the issue. It's what they've used (the Mocha Messiah included) since then.

Leland said...

Darcy, my initial sentiment was the same as yours, but I've thought this through a bit, and this is where I am. Let's look at the NYT piece April mentioned and Lem provided a link; this is a direct quote (emphasis mine):
"The F.B.I. is leading the investigations, aided by the National Security Agency, the C.I.A. and the Treasury Department’s financial crimes unit. The investigators have accelerated their efforts in recent weeks but have found no conclusive evidence of wrongdoing, the officials said. One official said intelligence reports based on some of the wiretapped communications had been provided to the White House."

Is it unreasonable for the current White House to ask what those wiretapped communications were? If that information is part of a criminal investigation; then ok, what's the crime? If you can't provide a charge, then this is intelligence, which the current President is authorized to have. If it doesn't exist at all; then the NYTimes has the credibility problem, because they were the first to claim it did exist.

rcocean said...

Who knows what Trump knows. Some say he has inside info. Others say his tweets were based on watching Mark Levin on Fox.

I just want the truth. Why is the FBI director always talking 'off the record'. Why doesn't this clown either shut up or hold a press conference? And when are the congressional committees going to investigate and issue a report?

Anyway, one thing I love about Trump is he stands up for himself and doesn't "play the game". He was willing to get along with Obama, like Presidents and ex-Presidents always do, but when he discovered that Obama deliberately tried to sabotage his Presidency he went after him. Bush II probably would've said nothing "for the good of the country" or "because Gentlemen don't do that".

Where did Bush II's good manners and "above it all" attitude get him?

rcocean said...

And I hope Chip Ahoy is doing OK. A very good writer and chef.

Leland said...

Here is what I think happened; Trump's team was spied on. The first dossier was definitely fake (made by 4Chan), but another dossier was real and built by folks in the Obama Administration. The intent was to drip the information in that dossier out over a long period to embarrass and blackmail Trump. I think Trump knows there is nothing in it to be embarrassed over, unless you truly believe we shouldn't even do business with the Russians (I'm sure some think this way, but most got over it in 1989 and a bit before). However, the former Journolist folks thought it was a gold mine to help them control the agenda. So they hyped it, thinking Trump; like Sessions and much of the GOP, would cower in fear. Trump turned the tables by saying, let's see this information, because he thinks more people will be concerned about how it was obtained than what it actually says.

Darcy said...

Thank you. You guys are talking me off the cliff. Hope Trump has his ducks in a row or has a good plan to line them up. Just so tired of the daily war.

It's everywhere. On a personal note, I think it just seems to be affecting everything and I don't like that feeling. I didn't like Obama, and criticized him often, but mostly among people who agreed with me. Family harmony has always come first for me. I will give my opinion, gently, if asked. Agree to disagree and all that. But with the addition of four grown stepchildren (all, God love them, social justice warriors) to my life I'm learning how very personal this can get. We have a daughter who wants nothing to do with us now because of our votes for Trump. Ugh! Hurts. So stuff like this just sets me on edge for the next salvo from loved ones.

On a spiritual level I really do wonder what Jesus would do. I'm only somewhat joking.

Ace wrote about that earlier today.

Me, for the first time in several weeks, managed to wake up after my alarm (a light that comes on a specific time); which meant I got out of bed immediately rather than waking up early (becomes I'm anxious) and then not wanting to get out of bed (because the world seemed to suck).
