The God Emperor makes another mistake.....nobodies perfect.

Our friend and ace blogger the Evil Blogger Lady has a post up on his eponymous named blog about an unforced error by President Trump.

It seems that one of the 46 US attorneys that were required to resign was from the Southern District of New York in one Preet Bharara. Now Mr. Bharara is a pretty liberal guy who was recommended by Schumer and appointed by Obama. But he is a man of the highest integrity. He prosecuted Shelly Silver who was the head of the New York State Assembly and was the most powerful politician in New York for about two decades. Then he locked up Dean Skelos who was head of the Republicans in the State Senate. He goes after the crooks and lets the chips fall where they may.

Earlier in the transition President Trump met with Mr. Bharara and told him he wanted him to continue in his post. Of course that was when he thought that they were still going to go after Hillary. So maybe that changed their thinking. I just don't think so.

I think it was an oversight. Two other US attorneys were told that their resignations would not be accepted. It is standard practice in government to get an undated resignation letter for the file. US Attorneys are always fired when the an opposite party comes in. No biggee. I think that we will hear next week that President Trump wants him to continue. At least I hope that is the case.

In any event why not take this opportunity to check out Evi's blog. He is on the blogroll and it is easy to jump over there. He always has great stuff going on and could use some traffic and a few comments. I have been remiss in not commenting there more often and I will up my game. It can be tough to put up great post after great post and not get any comments. We need to support each other as best as we can. So stop by Evi and Chip and the other blogs on our blog roll and drop a comment or two.

Thanks.

You serve at the preference of the President.

According to Gateway, Bharara and the Assistant Director-in-Charge of the New York Office of the FBI filed charges this past week against Dinesh D’Souza with violating the federal campaign finance laws.

All I could see, but it sounds like a political hit.

YMMV

I think he did a good job. Ed you know despite what many people said during the election you and I are both perfectly capable in pointing out mistakes that President Trump makes in pursuing his policies.

The current meme is that Sessions fired him because he was going to look into the Trump organization and Trump was afraid of that. I hope that is not true. What I would have done is co-opt this guy and point him at the wiretapping that Obama did. I would offer him support as a political candidate which I know is his end game. That's how you do it.

He should have sent him after Cuomo and DeBlasio and offered him support in a run for mayor or governor as a Republican.

Get rid of that commie Bharara - hire an American for God's sake.

And, if you write about stuff we care about we will comment - you know, wood, using sand paper to rub wood, applying oil to wood, that sort of thing. Not that juvenile stuff you post. Boobs - ha - who likes those?

Here's some background from Surber (as always).

You may be aware of some of this, but Surber's point is not without merit.

We'll hear more in the days to come.

In the end, this may be a YMMV.

Hey when I look at boobs I often apply oil to my wood. Just sayn'

Well, I was thinking along your lines, Troop. Due to Bharara going after Silver and Skelos. But I think
Insty has a balanced take also.

I read the Surber piece and it has part of the puzzle.

Listen I know this guy is not my cup of tea by a long shot. But he could have been a useful tool.

To quote Surber: In a tweet today, D'Souza said, "GOOD RIDDANCE DEPT: Obama capo @PreetBharara is a familiar Indian type, subservient to those above him but ruthless with those in his power."

If he is subservient to power use him as a tool. Point him at Cuomo and De Blasio and offer him support if he runs as a Republican. He could get elected in New York. A minority as a Republican with a rep as a crime buster who went after both parties. I think he would have a great shot.

Just my two cents.

I hear you Xray and both Instanerd and Surber make good points. But I just think it was a missed opportunity to turn an pawn from the other side into one for your side.

I mailed President Trump copies of "The Prince" and "The Art of War."

The classic comics edition of course.

Maybe he was fired because he just smelled of curry?

It's not a bad idea, Troop. But I can't see Trump getting down in the weeds by going after Cuomo and De Blasio. And, I suspect Bharara gives too much thought to his political future to go after them either.

He has them before the Grand Jury already. He was in the process of indicting them.

I believe in President Johnson's old adage. "It's better to have them in the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in."

This guys is a classic opportunist like Giuliani or Spitzer. Why not use him until he is not useful anymore? That would be the smart play in my book. Just sayn'

Know what you mean about Rudy. I was a Rudy guy 5 years ago because he was right on the big stuff.

As for using him, I don't doubt Trump has read "The Prince" and "The Art of War", but sometimes the usefulness is nuanced IYKWIMAITYD.

If that's the case then let's see if who DT, or his underlings, appoint, will continue with the indictments. Than might be an interesting tell overall.

Than = that.
