Gym scales are very triggering

Via Twitter:  Carleton University has removed a scale from its gym, apparently because physical reality is too much for some students to handle. A sign where the scale used to be explains that the school’s decision to ditch it was in an effort to keep up with “current fitness and social trends,” according to a student newspaper, The Charlatan.

An official from the campus in Ottawa, Canada told the campus publication that a scale can cause students to become obsessed with their weight.

“We don’t believe being fixated on weight has any positive effect on your health and well-being,” said Bruce Marshall, who manages the university’s health and wellness program. “The body is an amazing machine and even when we are dieting and training it will often find a homeostasis at a certain weight.”

“It takes weeks, even months to make a permanent change in your weight. So why obsess about it?” he continued. “Why not look at other indicators?”

Marshall said these “other indicators” include improving one’s cardiovascular health and changes in one’s measurements.

While Carleton is facing backlash from many of its students over this decision, some are on board with the university’s decision.

“Scales are very triggering,” freshman student Samar El Faki told the campus paper. “I think people are being insensitive because they simply don’t understand. They think eating disorders are a choice when they are actually a serious illness.”

Every weight control regimen I am familiar with (Weight Watchers, etc.) requires to scale your weight every day. But if reality is triggering, pretend an alternate reality.

People who use the word "trigger" as a verb are very triggering. They read negative assumptions into the existence of an object. They aren't required to use the scale or anything, it's just there, waiting ... JUDGING THEM HARSHLY. Or is it? To trigger. I trigger, you trigger, that evil scale triggers. Maybe it's just there for people who want to know their weight. A trigger is something that fires a gun so why isn't the word "trigger" triggering what with its association with scary firearms? Not too long ago a bullseye on Palin's website supposedly signified an invitation to actually open gun fire on a Democrat.
At a certain point does anyone consider that these abstract signifiers that signal and trigger are not really signalling or triggering? That sometimes a pen is just a pen? And people who think it's something else have a couple of screws loose?

Maybe a real athlete needs to use the scale to measure weight gain. Ya know, what with it being a GYM and all. Now s/he can't do that because this Samar El Fatass can't be in the presence of a judgey scale. Such a person might be triggered to kick some lardy ass.

Samar sounds like the world is very triggering.

Pretty soon, reality will be removed from reality because reality will be too much too handle. These aren't even snowflakes anymore, they are just invertebrate amoebas now.

Do school officials drag these triggered students onto the scale and announce their weight?

I assume not, so how do they get triggered? It wasn't the scale. They just realized they were fat, and want to blame the scale rather than the fork.

Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

We are dealing with mentally deranged and emotionally unhinged individuals that are being catered to by the leftists. They will become a serious problem for society if leftism isn't rooted out in these institutions and sanity is restored.

With eleven comments if not twelve all turning up in response to a "trigger", it's Hi-Yo Silver, Away!!

At least it led to the word "hinky dink".

At one point early on, the Lone Ranger’s mask covered most of Moore’s face. Gradually, it shrank to cover only his eyes, and metamorphosed from loose cloth to felt-covered fitted fiberglass that gave Moore better vision. For close-ups, cameramen used a special magenta light, called a hinky dink, to highlight the actor’s eyes that were otherwise hidden in the depths of his mask.

Geez Louise....if you think the scale is going to insult you by telling you your actual weight...then don't stand on it. No one is forcing you to face reality about your own body. Just ignore it sweet pea and continue on with your head up your ...fundament.

Also, note that Samar El Fake promotes the notion that being fat is a "serious illness."
Fat Person=Victim; Must be Protected. In fact, in most cases what you weigh is a matter of individual choice. Just like the decision to use, or not use, a scale. Your choice. You can eat a lot or not, use the scale or not. Samar El Fakir, and people like her, want to devalue and, ultimately, remove individual choice and the negative - as well as the positive - repercussions thereof.

"El Fake" - you can't make this stuff up.

I weigh myself like 5 times a day. I have a scale in my office and then at home and of course at the gym.

Did you check out the recent TV series Timeless? It is on Hulu and I really enjoyed it. Of course I am a history buff.

One of the episodes was called "The Murder of Jesse James." The basic premise of the series is that three time travelers go back in time and try not to change history. But they always seem to do so.

In this episode they meet Bass Reeves who was the law dog that the Lone Ranger was based on in the real world. One of the most interesting parts of this story is that Mr. Reeves was black. A former slave who worked primarily in the Indian territories and had a faithful Indian sidekick who was portrayed in this episode.

Reeves was a deputy US Marshal who worked under the "Hanging Judge" Issac Parker. He arrested over 3000 felons and shot and killed more than a dozen mooks in gunfights. He was the real deal.

He is the guy that Denzel Washington should have portrayed if he wanted to make a Western. What a lost opportunity.

That's also the premise of the MSM.

Carleton U has denied students the CHOICE of weighing or not. That strikes me as a big deal.
