"Colin Kaepernick won't protest during national anthem during 2017 season"

Via Drudge:  Kaepernick, who is expected to opt out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, either sat or kneeled while The Star-Spangled Banner was played before Niners games last season, a protest meant to draw attention to racial inequality and police brutality. He will discontinue his public protest in 2017, wherever he plays next season, a person with knowledge of Kaepernick's plans told USA TODAY Sports' Tom Pelissero.

The person requested anonymity because Kaepernick has not yet made his decision public.

As ratings and gate are way down, the front office gave Brillo head an ultimatum.

Not to mention the fact Idiot Boy is no longer in the Rainbow House and the rabble rousing will decline significantly, so nowhere near as much publicity.

I haven't seen any football in years, but don't you have to be on a team in order to protest or not protest? I have lost track of some of the fine points of the rules.

If he's not going ahead with it then was the cause he purportedly backed is in question.

If his paycheck comes first...

I mean he can't be talked about in the same level as people who have made sacrifices for civil rights or whatever it was he was protesting.

Long way of calling the guy a phony.

The NFL has lost me. This mook is just part of it. The NFL had to cut him and they did not. Some team will pick him up. Shit if OJ could play they would sign him in a minute.

His protest was just a bunch of bullshit. As most of this SJW nonsense is in reall life.

It doesn't really matter if he sits, stands, or never plays again. The thing is, all of the networks had quit showing the anthem until it became popular in the progressive media to show people protesting it. When others in the NFL decided to show support for slain police officers; they were denied by the NFL and the story was barely mentioned in the media. So sides were clearly delineated and the damage done.

It will take years for the NFL to recover if it ever can. I say ever, because the same demographics change that the progressives are exploiting also don't care about the NFL, or as they put it, Sportsball. And if they don't just hate sports because they are lazy communists, then they enjoy the other game called football. That other game is actually becoming more popular everywhere, especially in places that think men should use the restroom designated for them.

He got a lot of press for promising to give away $1 million to fight racial discrim but there's no publicity that he ever did more than hork up $25,000 here and there.

The NFL is dying of Colin cancer. The political polyps -- early warnings -- should have been excised but were ignored.

In his tax bracket he has to show donations to charity. He has been paid over 100 million dollars, almost all of it unearned, and to make a show of reducing his tax liability plays well with the low information types.

Am I cynical and skeptical? Why yes, yes I am. Thanks for asking.

The reason(s) why he discontinued protesting are left vague. So there's room for speculation. Recall that his own adoptive mother spoke out against his stunt, publicly. That doesn't happen too often. It reminds me of Rachel Dolezal's sad story. There's something missing here. Perhaps it has to do with his black muslim/BLM girlfriend.

Tom Brady caught more flak for having a MAGA hat in his locker than Kaepernick did for his anthem dis. Kaepernick received some criticism from sportscasters and elected Dem officials but it was carefully parsed and respectful. It cost them. I think a lot of their audience and a great many registered Democrats are not in favor of disrespecting the national anthem. The kneeling didn't make Kaepernick look strong. It made his supporters look weak and weaselly--which is their right under the first amendment.
