Pop Quiz! "P" vocabulary

These words were encountered online. People actually used them to make some kind of point. Were they trying to be clear or were they trying to lord over us with their condescending superior vocabulary? Some are so strange we'll likely never see them again. Others so common I wonder why they're on this list. It is a long list.

"Polish Experts: ‘Europe is at The End of its Existence. Western Europe is Practically Dead’

Breibart News By Oliver JJ Lane July 30,  2016
Speaking to Polish television, a former member of Poland’s counter-terror police and an academic expert on information warfare and terrorism have articulated their concern about the intellectual and spiritual collapse of European civilization, remarking it is “at the end of its existence”.
Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBS) officer Jacek Wrona and military history academic Dr. Rafał Brzeski were guests on the Polish TVP Info programme discussing the Munich shooting in which nine were killed, and were forced to conclude it was a symptom of the end of European Civilisation. Information warfare expert Dr. Brzeski rejected the suggestion in German media that the Munich killer — an 18 year old Muslim — was mad, pointing out the killing had “an element of planning”, reports wPolityce.

Joe Biden to Appear on Law and Order SVU but strangely enough not as a molester?

New York Post Page Six July 29, 2016
You have the right to remain starstruck: It’s Vice President Joe Biden on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
Biden will be in New York on Friday to tape an episode of the long-running NBC series. The White House says Biden’s appearance on the episode will focus on the backlog in processing rape kits and efforts to prevent violence against women.
Biden has frequently teamed up with the show’s star, Mariska Hargitay, for events raising awareness about the issues. She narrated a biographical video about Biden that aired just before his speech Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention.
Unfortunately the episode will not dwell on the many instances where Vice President Biden has taken advantage of his position to sexually harass young women both in front of and behind the cameras. "Our job is to elect Democrats no matter how scievy and corrupt" said Mariska Hargitay. "We will even present Hillary Clinton as a normal human being if that is possible."
The White House hasn’t said when the episode will air.

"Campaign refused to cooperate with (FBI) investigation..."

"Russians 'likely responsible' for Clinton campaign hack"
The Justice Department’s national-security division is investigating the cyber attacks. The FBI warned the Clinton campaign in March that it had been targeted by hackers, Yahoo News said.
But the campaign refused to cooperate with the investigation — holding back data the FBI had requested to look into the matter, Yahoo reported.
The Clinton campaign believed the request would have meant turning over too much sensitive information to the FBI, which at the time was also in the middle of a separate lengthy investigation into Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server while she served as secretary of state.
The Clinton campaign downplayed the severity of the latest hacking, maintaining it was confined to “an analytics data program maintained by the DNC, and used by our campaign and a number of other entities,” spokesman Nick Merrill said.
“Our campaign computer system has been under review by outside cybersecurity experts,” he said. “To date, they have found no evidence that our internal systems have been compromised.”

Weiner dog gets screwed and not by Huma!

New York Post by Julia Marsh July 28, 2016
Winnie Pooh’s honey pot has gone dry.
A lovable 7-year-old dachshund named Winnie Pooh was left a $100,000 trust fund from her late owner — but isn’t receiving money, according to a new lawsuit.
The Manhattan Surrogate’s Court suit was filed by Winnie Pooh’s caretaker, Gramercy Park resident Virginia Hanlon.
Hanlon was a friend and neighbor of Winnie Pooh’s owner, Patricia Bowers, an unmarried economist who died in 2010. Bowers appointed Hanlon as the dog’s guardian and another friend and lawyer named Harriet Harkavy as executor of her estate.

Do you smell the Honeysuckle?

New York Post by Danny Collins July 29, 2016
“Foyle’s War” actress Honeysuckle Weeks has been reported missing from her home.
Fears are growing for the 36-year-old who was last seen in Chichester, West Sussex, at 9pm last night.
Her family alerted police one hour later who confirmed she had recently spoken about battling with anxiety.
Detective Kate Witt said in a statement: “We are concerned about Honeysuckle as her recent behaviour has concerned family and friends and she has expressed to them she is feeling anxious."

What is miso?

Miso (pronounced mee-so) is one of the outstanding treasures of Japanese culture which has now spread from its native home to benefit all of humanity.
Wow. *eyes, widen, mouth agape*

I just now clicked on my own link to South River Miso and read what they say of themselves. Now that's confidence. That right there is faith in your product. Its not just them thinking it, rather, it's them being convinced. Reading it made me laugh. I realized they really mean it.

Decades elapsed and so far everyone who bothers to write loves it, not a single person will say their product sucks and it's way too expensive and now decades have gone by and  all the accolades have them convinced they are the miso gods. I'm imagining all that.
Miso as we know it today is the result of over 2000 years of care and craft, developed within a world view which intuitively knew that food is our best medicine.
If you say so then it is so, we’re already sold so the case from antiquity and breezy aphorism appeal to us, we appreciate your product and we agree.

I thought it was funny. And I sensed they might get a bit spiritual. They are a uniquely driven group. And I know there's a lot to say about miso, I read a whole book one time a fat one, crammed with words, the bible of miso, its authors treated their subject as precious. Exhaustive, actually, the entire history of the separate organisms, different types of miso at different places at various times historically.
According to Japanese mythology, miso itself is a gift to mankind from the gods to assure lasting health, longevity, and happiness. Miso has no equivalent among Western foods. In the form of a wet paste with the consistency of a firm cottage cheese, miso is made through a unique double fermentation process developed through centuries of Japanese food craft. Cooked beans (usually soybeans) are mixed together with salt and with cultured or fermented grain, called koji (usually made from rice or barley). This mixture is then fermented in great wooden vats, in some cases for a few weeks and for as long as three years. Natural miso is always unpasteurized and, traditionally, has a distinct chunky texture.
I would say texture of peanut butter. The description is much longer than this. It gets into the spiritual and historical aspects. I thought it was funny. But it's not. These people really are serious.

And they don't say this, but it's shown in video, they spread out the steaming hot beans on the floor, don special cotton socks, and go stomping around blending salt and smashing the beans.

As for myself, I think my jars sat there in the refrigerator for over a year. I'm certain of it now that I'm thinking. The stuff is awesome. I made some a few days ago and it's been a very long time.

Appeals court holds that it was “passed with racially discriminatory intent.”

"Court strikes down North Carolina voter ID law"
The ruling also invalidated limits the same state law placed in 2013 on early voting, same-day registration, out-of-precinct voting, and preregistration
The three judges assigned to the case — all Democratic appointees — were unanimous that the Republican-controlled North Carolina legislature violated the U.S. Constitution and the Voting Rights Act three years ago by enacting the measure requiring voters to show certain types of photo ID at the polls.
"The record makes clear that the historical origin of the challenged provisions in this statute is not the innocuous back-and-forth of routine partisan struggle that the State suggests and that the district court accepted," Judge DIana Motz wrote on behalf of Judges James Wynn and Henry Floyd. "Rather, the General Assembly enacted them in the immediate aftermath of unprecedented African American voter participation in a state with a troubled racial history and racially polarized voting. The district court clearly erred in ignoring or dismissing this historical background evidence, all of which supports a finding of discriminatory intent."
The court's opinion bluntly described the legislation as a clear effort to suppress the black vote.
I think it's racist to assume blacks can't or wont get an ID.

Dem Donor Class, why did you put your personal information out there?

You did that by giving your vital information to the Democrat party. You trusted them with your personal information, very personal, and they betrayed your trust. Yes, again, you did this yourself, to yourself, by putting your information at risk by handing it over to an untrustworthy agency.  I'm sorry to say, your beloved party is not a trustworthy agency.

Now, here is the whole world with your vital information just put out there so carelessly, handled carelessly. I feel an urge to call each one of you and ask, "Why did you allow this? Why did you trust?" I doubt many phone numbers still work, but who knows?

Maybe a few would actually answer.

I feel an urge, a faint one but still an urge to mass produce a simple pop-up card that goes boing "PSYCH" then in tiny typeface "DNC gave us everything vital. You trusted poorly" and send to every address.

Just for fun. And let this be a lesson for placing trust in unworthy agencies.

I just now realized, and this awesome I must admit it, the first two pages are wealthy people with money to burn who I don't recognize, scanning the names, except Soros jumps out at the end. So there are a lot of wealthy people. It's actually comforting knowing that. And the third page is only a portion, that's what I just noticed, alphabetized list of names that I do recognize, all famous and political names, but the odd thing about it is they are first names, some out of place, it's funny, Tom Keating, Tom Manatos, Tom Epstein, Tom Daschele, Tom Litjen, Tom O'Donnell, with some names out of exact place alphabetically, Tammie mixed in there with Tony and Todd displaced from their own pack, Toni Buoy, Tony Hadley, Tony Magnetti, Tony Reeves, Toney Russo Tony Podesta, and you go these are just the To -- Tu names a whole page of them, man, this Vast Left Wing Conspiracy sure is vast. It's awesome. That list has telephone numbers and e-mail addresses.

And this isn't even the WikiLeaks, this is the Guccifer pages. WikiLeaks is another world much larger. So large you cannot even go through it all. People form teams and comb it for damaging entries. Then compile the most interesting things that they've found. So far. DNC workers are already freaking out, searching their own names, preparing their resignation notices and statements, some have already been told to do so. An ill wind blows through the Party Democrat, the entire party apparatus is shaken and all talk of party unity is among survivors.

"All aspects of the memory are affected by poor sleep"

"It doesn't just make you grouchy: Poor sleep 'also makes more forgetful"
Participants aged 18 to 80 were asked to measure their sleep against five different “everyday” memories: having to check whether they’ve done something; forgetting to tell somebody something important; where things are normally kept; doing something they intended to do such as posting a letter and finding it difficult to concentrate.
Poor sleep was classed as under five hours a night and the results found that all aspects of memory are affected by low levels of sleep.
The most commonly reported memory failure was having to check whether they had done something with 50 per cent struggling with this problem at least once a week but the figure rose to two thirds for poor sleepers.
This was closely followed by people forgetting to do something they intended to do – a weekly problem for 44 per cent rising to 60 per cent for those who slept for under five hours.
Forgetting where things are kept was a weekly problem for 25 per cent of respondents though when they had slept poorly it drastically increased to two thirds.
Half of poor sleepers surveyed said they “regularly” struggled with concentration in relation to their working life illustrating the profound effect lack of sleep has on everyday memory and wellbeing.
On average, those who slept for less than five hours a night were 25 per cent more forgetful than those who slept for longer. (read the whole thing)

Did you Notice Clinton's Constant Throat Clearing

Daily WireDuring her headline speech on Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Clinton noticeably cleared her throat twenty-two times. In and of itself, it could be written off as temporarily being under the weather. Given its persistence, however, questions arise about the Democrats' presidential nominee. She seemed to have deliberately timed her throat clearing during manufactured applause directed by her audience managers.

Clinton suffered a concussion late in 2012. Philippe Reines, a Clinton loyalist who operated as deputy assistant secretary of state said she had fainted after being dehydrated due to a stomach virus. For some time afterwards, she occasionally wore special "Fresnel prism" lenses for treating double vision after a brain injury.

Meanwhile, Bill Clinton appear to nod off. Or was he just meditating.

Alexis de Tocqueville fake-ass quote

We're really tired of hearing it. Knock it off, it's offensive. You're insulting us by insisting on restating it. You're insulting us by pretending to be familiar with Tocuqueville.

That reminds me. Hang on.

There.

This guy was really smart. And he said some amazing things about early America that blows every one's mind. In French.

But he did not say, "America is great because America is good." Or hardly anything like it. The type things Tocqueville said were a lot smarter than that. Let's look at some of the things that Tocqueville did say, be amazed, and see the difference in quality. I'll c/p from Wikipedia.
Born under another sky, placed in the middle of an always-moving scene, himself driven by the irresistible torrent which sweeps along everything that surrounds him, the American has no time to tie himself to anything; he grows accustomed to naught but change, and concludes by viewing it as the natural state of man; he feels a need for it; even more, he loves it: for instability, instead of occurring to him in the form of disasters, seems to give birth to nothing around him but wonders...
Good Lord he read my mind that long ago. That is precisely my experience. That I thought was somewhat unique. And just as I think that I'm permanently settled someone else snaps the rug and I go spinning. That is my life in that paragraph. The first one shown on this page. Man, that was like randomly accessing the Tao Te Ching after five tosses of a coin.

Here's one about English and French.
The French want no-one to be their superior. The English want inferiors. The Frenchman constantly raises his eyes above him with anxiety. The Englishman lowers his beneath him with satisfaction.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même, mais oui? Back to Americans.
As one digs deeper into the national character of the Americans, one sees that they have sought the value of everything in this world only in the answer to this single question: how much money will it bring in?
Here's my favorite, about people.
Men in general are neither very good nor very bad, but mediocre... Man with his vices, his weaknesses, his virtues, this confused medley of good and ill, high and low, goodness and depravity, is yet, take him all in all, the object on earth most worthy of study, of interest, of pity, of attachment and of admiration. And since we haven't got angels, we can attach ourselves to nothing greater and more worthy of our devotion than our own kind.
As to the fake quote, it's believed that Tocqueville biographer conflated his own notes for a quote. Reagan used it. Others followed. It's well known to be made up but nobody cares at this point. It sounds good. To them. (but not to me. it's incomplete, a dangling participle) Here's the thing. The people using it want their broader audience to believe their familiarity with Democracy in America when in reality it's too daunting a book and too long a task to take up. Try it if you haven't already, it's density will blow your mind.

Russia and China schedule Joint Operations in the South China Sea......So Trump is an idiot for wanting good relations with Russia?

Breitbart News by Frances Martel July 28, 2016

The Chinese government has announced that it will hold naval drills with the Russian military in the South China Sea in September, a move following an international court verdict stating that China does not have sovereignty over most of the South China Sea.

The Chinese defense ministry has described the joint military operation as “routine” and “aimed at strengthening the developing China-Russia strategic cooperative partnership.” It has explicitly denied that the drill is a ploy to flex collective military muscle and scare off “third parties.” A defense ministry spokesman affirmed the exercise was necessary for “deepen mutual trust and expand cooperation, raise the ability to jointly deal with security threats, and benefit the maintenance of regional and global peace and stability.”

It is unclear whether the operations will take place in disputed South China Sea territory. China claims most of the major trade route, including areas that are the sovereign territory of Vietnam, Taiwan, Brunei, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Earlier this month, China lost a case against the Philippines at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Hague. The court found that China’s claims were unfounded and that it must cease its illegal military and fishing activities in the region.

Good Times.....NY Times reports 76% drop in profits for the second quarter!

New York Post by Keith J Kelly July 28, 2016
The New York Times Co. on Thursday reported that digital advertising revenue in the second quarter declined 6.8 percent — its second straight quarterly tumble in the important category — helping produce a 76 percent drop in operating profit.
The NYT’s total revenue of $372.6 million was short of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $376 million.
President and Chief Executive Mark Thompson told Wall Street analysts that he expected ad revenue improvement in the third quarter but that it would be “lumpy.”
The publisher is expecting a smaller number of ad deals across multiple platforms, but for individual deals to command more revenue, Thompson said.
The 50-plus employees who opted for voluntary buyouts in July would result in about an $11 million write-off in the third quarter.

Nancy Pelosi tells us what the Democrats really think!

White Guys

Town Hall by Leah Barkoukis July 28, 2016
In an interview on Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention, PBS host Judy Woodruff asked Rep. Nancy Pelosi about the fact that Donald Trump is handily beating Hillary Clinton among ‘non-college educated’ white men, and how the Democratic nominee would be able to counter that.
Pelosi said that Clinton will be able to make up for the deficit with a strong economic agenda, but then proceeded to explain why the Democratic nominee is doing so poorly among this demographic.
“So many times non college educated white males have voted Republican, have voted against their own economic interest because of guns, because of gays, and because of God, the three G’s,” she said, “God being the woman’s right to choose.”
Her answer—revealing how Democrats truly feel about this segment of the population—is reminiscent of President Obama’s infamous remarks in 2008 when he categorized conservatives as those who’ve become “bitter and cling to their guns” and “religion.”

Pope Francis falls flat on his face in Poland......Did the ghost of Karol Józef Wojtyła trip him?

New York Post July 28, 2016 by Yaron Steinbuch
Pope Francis took a tumble as he arrived to celebrate Mass in Poland on Thursday, but was back on his feet quickly to continue the service.
The 79-year-old pontiff was walking toward an altar at the southern Black Madonna shrine of Częstochowa to mark the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland when he stumbled, the Mirror of the UK reported.
A group of altar servers rushed to help Francis, who appeared uninjured.

"What's a good date other than dinner and a movie?"

Reddit best answers...

Kayaking and other outdoor activities are great if you're dating someone who's athletic. If your city has a large body of water nearby, Kayak rentals can go for $10-$15 an hour and you can see neat stuff. Lots of schools with aquatic athletic programs like crew will also offer student discounts too. I've also taken a few girls who were interested in rock climbing to a bouldering gym.

My husband and I have LEGO dates. We buy a set and build it while watching a movie or tv show (one we've seen so we know what's going on while we build) and usually booze.

Ice skating. Especially if you have a rink that also has a bar.

Aquarium, Zoo, or Museum
Something that get's you walking and gives you a lot to talk about so if the conversation lags you can pick it up easily.

Go to a planetarium. Reasons:
  1. Usually either a very cheap or free experience.
  2. Reclining and watching the stars.

ABC11.comJose Figueroa went to O-Hare International Airport to pick up a man who had just emigrated from Ukraine.

Figueroa took him to a home in west suburban River Grove. Later, he realized the man left his wallet, which has $3,000 inside.

That's when Figueroa remembered the man said he had sold his business and that cash was all he had.

"I mean there was temptation. I'll be honest with you. But me being a Christian, I couldn't. I wanted to make sure I sleep good, so that's what i did. I returned the money and the wallet," Figueroa said.

He went back to the home where he dropped his passenger off. The man's sister was there. When she saw him, she started crying.

They both insisted Figueroa stay for dinner and gave him $100 as a thank you.

“We stand decisively against that.”

Trump is on Reddit and I'm raiding his comments

"I’m Donald J. Trump and I'm Your Next President of the United States."

We firmly believe Hillary will try and steal this election through vote fraud, especially given recent events. What is your campaign doing to ensure that we have a fair election?
Voter fraud is always a serious concern and authorities must be vigilant from keeping those from voting that are not authorized to do so.
What role should NASA play in helping to Make America Great Again?
Honestly I think NASA is wonderful! America has always led the world in space exploration.
Reports estimate that 90% of US media is owned by 6 companies. The US mass media has fused into a gross alliance with big business and big government as this election has shown more than any other. The dishonest media is rigging our democracy with a radical agenda that divides Americans and causes nothing but sensationalism and hatred at the expense of the USA. They are killing our country for ratings and profit, with impunity.
How will you, as president, tackle this protected class of media elites without stepping on the first amendment rights of average Americans?
I have been very concerned about media bias and the total dishonesty of the press. I think new media is a great way to get out the truth.
Mr. Trump
What is your plan for reducing or removing the influence of money on politics?
Keeping Crooked Hillary Clinton out of the White House!
America has a proud tradition of stealing the most brilliant and talented people from countries around the world for ourselves. Albert Einstein, Wernher von Braun, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Melania Trump... the list goes on and on. In recent years, however, H-1B visa abuse has become rampant.
A program meant bring truly exceptional talent to America has been twisted by globalist politicians and corporations, allowing low-cost, short term labor to steal jobs from everyday Americans and take everything they learn back to their home countries. Will you curb H-1B abuse and make sure visas are going to people who want to become American, stay American, and make America great?
I have put forward a detailed plan for H-1B reform to protect American workers which can viewed on the immigration paper on my website. My plan is the exact opposite of Crooked Hillary Clinton.
Mr. Trump, as a self-employed young American, my health insurance costs have skyrocketed under Obamacare. Paying close to $300 a month with a $6,000 deductible is a challenge as I try and grow my business. What will you do as President to ensure that myself and others can not only enjoy the security of having health insurance, but also afford to keep it?
One of the first things I will do is to repeal and replace disastrous Obamacare. I will put forward an amazing new plan, which will include many reforms, such as letting people buy insurance across state lines, increasing choice and competition, and bargaining for better, cheaper drug prices.

Listen up....all you white people get at the end of the line!

Biden: Democrats haven't 'spoken enough' to white, middle-class Americans

Vice President Joe Biden joked Wednesday that he is “going to be living in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan” in the coming months as the Democratic Party looks to reconnect with white, middle-class voters ahead of November’s general election.
Biden told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Democrats have increasingly failed to connect with white, middle-class Americans, a group with which Republican nominee Donald Trump has consistently polled well. The vice president said that while Democrats have continued to advocate for policies that would benefit those voters, they have not spent enough time assuring them that Democrats understand their problems.

"French media to stop publishing photos and names of terrorists"

The Guardian:   Several French news organisations have said they will no longer publish photographs of people responsible for terrorist killings, to avoid bestowing “posthumous glorification”.

Le Monde published an editorial after the latest attack, the murder of an elderly priest in a church near Rouen by two men claiming allegiance to Islamic State. Under the headline “Resisting the strategy of hate”, Le Monde argued on Wednesday that all elements of society had to be involved in the struggle against terrorism, and that media organisations had a special role to play.

“The sites and newspapers that produce this information cannot excuse themselves from self-examination on several fronts. Since Isis terrorism first appeared, Le Monde has changed its practices several times,” the newspaper said.

In the aftermath of the Nice attack, a psychoanalyst, Fethi Benslama, who teaches at Paris Diderot university, suggested on French radio: “Perhaps it is time that there was a pact in the media to no longer publish the names and pictures of the perpetrators of these acts, as it’s a really big boost to their efforts to make themselves world famous, even while their victims are anonymous and will remain anonymous.”

Benslama said this “glorification” encouraged others to carry out attacks, “to gain glory in the eyes of their commanders and their friends”. He added: “They leave their identity cards – they want to be identified very quickly.”

I always wondered what happened to them?

Is Trump calling for a cyber attack on his own country?

NYT: Donald J. Trump directly addressed Russia in a news conference in Florida on Wednesday, openly calling on it to find the roughly 30,000 emails that Hillary Clinton deleted from her private email server.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said, staring directly into the cameras. “I think you will probably be mightily rewarded by our press.”
Later in the news conference, when asked if he was really urging a foreign nation to hack into the email server of Mrs. Clinton, or at least meddle in the nation’s elections, he dismissed the question. “That’s up to the president,” Mr. Trump said, before finally telling the female questioner to “be quiet — let the president talk to them.”
Mr. Trump has largely dismissed assertions that Russia was behind the Democratic committee breach as conspiracy theories — a view he reiterated again when he said the hack “is probably not Russia.”
If you are a Trump supporter, how do you explain this move?

"Bill Clinton's Lapse Into Trumpism"

"In his convention speech, he suggested that Muslims need to earn the rights that all other Americans enjoy."
Clinton said something dreadful: “If you’re a Muslim and you love America and freedom and you hate terror, stay here and help us win and make a future together, we want you.” The problem is in the assumption. American Muslims should be viewed exactly the same way other Americans are. If they commit crimes, then they should be prosecuted, just like other Americans. But they should not have to prove that they “love America and freedom” and “hate terror” to “stay here.” Their value as Americans is inherent, not instrumental. Their role as Americans is not to “help us win” the “war on terror.”
Whether Clinton meant to or not, he lapsed into Trumpism: the implication that Muslims are a class apart, deserving of special scrutiny and surveillance, guilty of terrorist sympathies until proven innocent.
Meanwhile, earlier outside the convention...  "The organizer of a “Black DNC Resistance March” in Philadelphia Tuesday demanded white supporters and “white media” move to back of the crowd."

"$3M lottery winner invested money in crystal meth ring"

ChronRonnie Music, Jr, 45, plead guilty to federal drug trafficking and firearm charges during a plea hearing last week. Evidence presented in the case suggested Music worked with a group to gain access to and distribute methamphetamine throughout Georgia.

"Defendant Music decided to test his luck by sinking millions of dollars of lottery winnings into the purchase and sale of crystal meth," United States Attorney Ed Tarver said in a press release. "As a result of his unsound investment strategy, Music now faces decades in a federal prison."

There's No Secrets This Year

CNNWikileaks founder Julian Assange said Tuesday his whistleblowing website might release "a lot more material" relevant to the US electoral campaign.  Assange was speaking in a CNN interview following the release of nearly 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee by suspected Russian hackers.

However, Assange refused to confirm or deny a Russian origin for the mass email leak, saying Wikileaks tries to create ambiguity to protect all its sources.

"Perhaps one day the source or sources will step forward and that might be an interesting moment some people may have egg on their faces. But to exclude certain actors is to make it easier to find out who our sources are," Assange told CNN.

Conservatism in Ruins...a commentary by Vox Day

Conservatives

Vox Popoli by Vox Day July 26, 2016
Andrew Klavan's first thoughts on rebuilding conservatism:
The conservative movement has collapsed and is in ruins. Its vehicle for political expression, the Republican Party, is now in the hands of an authoritarian nationalist who has never read the Constitution and does not believe in free expression, free trade or the separation of powers. Its central vehicle for expression in the news media is in disarray as Fox News becomes embroiled in scandal. Even its defenders on talk radio and in the blogosphere are severely at odds as they are forced to choose whether to defend Trump as the lesser of two evils or to stand fast with the founding fathers against both terrible sides.
The conservative movement has collapsed and lies in ruins. And it has done so due to the deceit and dishonesty of conservative commentators like Andrew Klavan, who apparently feel the need to make provably false statements about everyone from Donald Trump to the Founding Fathers.

old sweet potato

Some things you just don't get to in time. I dropped the old sweet potato into the kitchen bin and it looked ikebana sticking up.

This outside container held baby marigolds but a single green caterpillar nibbled all of them down to nubs. Finally one morning the caterpillar stuck out among the nibbled down nubs.  Now the container has supplemental replacement caladiums only beginning to poke through the dirt. I expect the sweet potato will root and fill out with leaves. It's an experiment.

"Ethicists say voting with your heart, without a care about the consequences, is actually immoral"

QUARTZ:   “The purpose of voting is not to express your fidelity to a worldview. It’s not to wave a flag or paint your face in team colors; it’s to produce outcomes,” says Jason Brennan, a philosopher at Georgetown University and author of The Ethics of Voting. “If they’re smart, they’ll vote for the candidate likely to best produce the outcome they want. That might very well be compromising, but if voting for a far-left or far-right candidate means that you’re just going to lose the election, then you’ve brought the world further away from justice rather than closer to it.”

Ilya Somin, a law professor at George Mason University, says it’s important for voters to balance their principles with the consequences of their actions. He suggests creating an equation to multiply how much one favors a candidate by that candidate’s chances of having a positive impact. (read the whole thing)

Israeli puts pork on dead terrorist's body

To deny the terrorist his virgins in heaven. In the new cell phone video medics are trying to resuscitate the terrorist while a resident gets close enough to place a piece of meat on the body telling the terrorist sarcastically to enjoy it.

The practice is not new. The Front Page article cites several previous such incidents and displays this clip of of a film showing the practice and the effect it had on morale.

Neither Front Page nor YouTube uploader name the movie. Reliably, a commenter on YouTube does, stating simply, "The Real Glory 1939."

A subsequent commenter remarks, "Nonsense. Pershing never did any such thing."

Teen caught fondling commuters tells cops he’d never seen white women

A Jamaican student who was caught in the act fondling a woman in a downtown Brooklyn subway station Monday morning — and allegedly did the same to four other women last week — told cops he committed the act because he’d never seen white women before and “they’re absolutely beautiful,” police sources said.
Lt. John DiMeola and Officer Lauren Garcia spotted Damario Johnson, 19, a Jamaican national who is in New York on a student visa, pacing around the Hoyt Street 2 and 3 station before running up to a woman and sticking his hands up her skirt, according to Capt. Zahid Williams, the commanding officer of Transit District 30.
They immediately arrested him without incident. He was charged with sex abuse, Williams said.
Johnson began his lewd spree in the station during the morning rush on Wednesday, Williams said. The second incident was on Thursday evening and two more were on Friday morning, he said.
All of Johnson’s victims were white women ranging from their 20s to their 40s — and in some of the cases, he managed to stick his hand under their underwear, Williams said.

( I used to take the subway from this station every day. It is full of students from Brooklyn Tech.)

"Neo-Nazi gets makeover to hide tattoos from jury"

Las Vegas Review Journal:  “The goal is to make sure we can get a jury to at least give him a fair trial,” defense attorney Dan Bunin said.

A month ago, a different group of possible jurors was summoned to decide on the robbery case against Morgan. But one by one, they saw his tattoos and his bald head and said they could not be fair and impartial.

“If it’s a certain kind of tattoo, in a certain spot, it signifies something more,”...

In the judge’s courtroom Friday, prison guards, court marshals and prosecutors watched as a cosmetologist spent roughly two hours applying makeup to cover Morgan’s tattoos as he sat at the defense table, shackled and wearing an orange jumpsuit. With a test of the inmate makeover complete, none of the tattoos could be seen.

The judge walked in. “It looks good,” he said.

dark dude, a temporary diversion

I ran an errand and on the way back nearly home and on my own block I heard from behind me from a group that I passed, a man’s voice say urgently, “I gotta talk to that guy.” I kept walking within a few steps a tall ageless shirtless man caught up and walked beside me very close. “Look. Look what I got.”  I have no idea who this is. “Look at my hand. Look how dirty it is.”

Now I know. He’s the guy who asked me for a dollar so he could buy a beer. I recognized his hand. This is the second time he’s showed me his hand. And come to think of it, he’s the only person who's ever done that. He has a big dark dirty hand. It’s unsightly.  “It’s sticky. "I washed it and it  doesn’t come off, it keeps picking up dirt. It’s sticky. That’s how sticky the weed is. Look. Look what I got.” He’s excited.

He doesn’t look the same as before. He’s not wearing a shirt and he’s darker than before. His skin tone is broken. He's a mess. He hands me his bag but I don’t take it. I can’t. I’m holding two sticks. And I’m carrying a gallon of milk and pint of Häagen-Dazs and a hot sub sandwich on my back. I really must go. I’m starving.

“Look. Look what I got. I’m loaded, Dude.” He holds his arm  straight forward holding a small parcel a light grocery bag inside another grocery bag, double bagged,  crumpled up both twisted together forming a bundle. “I got cookies and butter and weed. The weed coated my hands back there with resin. Smell.”

“No.”

“Smell.”

“I gotta go. I’m starving.” I don't like this.

“Okay, okay, okay, wait.” He un twirls the bags reaches in and produces a sugar cookie, re-twirls his bags.  “Here.” Right there on the street in front of store windows, in front of my building. a resident  I know speaking with others walking past and greeting me as they go.

“Fine. Thank you. We’re even, eh? Thanks for that.”

Beer for cookie. Even Steven. I guess. I told him before I don’t drink because I have enough trouble walking. I think he assumes I’m in pain. If I can’t have beer and my building says "no smoking" then he’ll give me a cookie instead. I think his urgency is  street economics even Steven sharing ease the pain thing. I don’t know.

“Okay, go eat eat your dinner.”

Glad to depart. I enter my building. My hot and cold dinner element mixing. I’m home now. Democrat convention all over the place. What the heck. Ate his cookie first and now I’m quite high.

I’m fine. Except I cannot seem to get up off the sofa right now.

Yes I can.

I walk out onto the bumpy terrace barefooted and now inside the carpet feels like walking on cotton balls.

ISIS fighters try to flee battlefield dressed as women

Daily Mail:  This is the moment a group of ISIS fighters were caught red-handed trying to escape from a fierce battle - dressed as women.

The terrorists, all wearing full black veils, were captured as they attempted to run from the besieged town of Manbij in northern Syria.

But members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, which is trying to liberate the town from ISIS, saw through the disguise and arrested them.

"Southern California fire destroys 18 home; dozens at risk"

APA massive wildfire destroyed at least 18 homes and threatened 1,500 more Sunday as flames churned through tinder-dry canyons north of Los Angeles where authorities found a burned body in a neighborhood.

Planes and helicopters dropped water and retardant on the blaze that has blackened more than 34 square miles of brush on ridgelines near the city of Santa Clarita and the Angeles National Forest. About 300 miles up the coast, crews were battling another blaze spanning 16 square miles north of the majestic Big Sur region.

Crews faced another day of hot weather, low humidity and high winds that could once again fan the fires’ explosive growth. Shifting winds sent smoke away from greater Los Angeles and into desert communities, where residents were warned about poor air quality.

"Georgia court says ‘upskirting’ videos not against the law"

APA man admitted he took a video on his phone up a woman’s skirt, but a Georgia court ruled he did not break the law.

The Georgia Court of Appeals tossed outthis month the conviction of former grocery store employee Brandon Lee Gary, who surreptitiously recorded the video up the woman’s skirt while she shopped at a grocery store.

The majority opinion said Gary’s behavior, known as “upskirting,” was reprehensible but doesn’t violate Georgia’s invasion of privacy law because it happened in a place that’s open to the public. The law prohibits recording a person without consent “in any private place and out of public view.”

"Donald Trump bounces into the lead"

CNNDonald Trump comes out of his convention ahead of Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House, topping her 44% to 39% in a four-way matchup including Gary Johnson (9%) and Jill Stein (3%) and by three points in a two-way head-to-head, 48% to 45%. That latter finding represents a 6-point convention bounce for Trump, which are traditionally measured in two-way matchups.
There hasn't been a significant post-convention bounce in CNN's polling since 2000. That year Al Gore and George W. Bush both boosted their numbers by an identical 8 points post-convention before ultimately battling all the way to the Supreme Court.
