Thanksgiving talking points cheatsheet

I just now checked DCCC.org website for this year's Thanksgiving dinner political talking points, used their search feature for "Thanksgiving" and for "cheatsheet"  and just to make sure, also for "cheat sheet" with a space and the only thing that comes up is the cheatsheet for 2014. Well, things have changed a lot since then and now I don't know what to tell my crazy Tea Party relatives. I'm lost. What should I do?

Watch the Walking Dead. You need to cower to them like Rick and the gang to Negan.

Just yell out "racist" whenever one of your Trump voting relatives starts trumpsplaining then light a match in front of your face and set the whole gene pool on fire. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm sitting here watching the sunset like a television. It's just stunning. I wish I had set up a time lapse but it didn't look promising. Man, was I ever wrong. Just a broad band of cloud across the sky apparently not moving, with a thinner band close to the horizon farther away over the mountains. It's still lit bright orange and gray but fading. The colors were so deep and pure and rich it's incredible. Some days I'm super glad that my eyes work.

Sunsets should be savored when they are special.

Lots of liquor is helpful at Thanksgiving.

Just don't carve the turkey too soon...

Fuck the cheat sheet. Just call that Trumpist a raciss -a dirty rotten rassic.

Pass the *dark* meat please. The white meat is raciss.

They lost then, too, so I guess they're stuck on stupid.

The white meat is usually dried out and stringy.

I got racist, misogynist, sexist, homophobe, Islamophobe, xenophobe, transphobe, climate denier, ant-semite, imperialist, genocidal, white supremacist, bigoted, Nazi, Hitler, kitten killer. That should carry me over Thanksgiving. But then what about Christmas?

Sixty: Eat Me! I don't blame you, my kind are cursed with being delicious.

To expand on Amartel; whenever you greet a female family member (or transgendered), ask them why they didn't show up to vote for Hillary, because they are women too.

And then...

Err, umm, derp.

I'm suddenly hungry.

I'm going to go find me a beef stick.

Thanksgiving talking points?

Well, since the time my husband and I got pissed off at the Thanksgiving table when my family was continually trashing Bush and making disparaging remarks about any body who voted Republican, our talking points are if you want to have us visit or you want to visit us we DO NOT TALK ABOUT POLITICS.

At that time we informed them that they were being rude asses, insulting us personally, had narrow bigoted minds. We got up told them all to fuck off and stop insulting us. Walked out and drove the 600 miles back home that night. They all sat there in shock.

Since then our visits have been pretty good. Occasionally we see one or the other of us veering into political arguments and suddenly there will be a change in the conversation. How about that weather. Man this turkey is really good. How did you do the gravy. How are the grandkids doing in school?...etc etc.

We all decided that there are a lot of things to talk about other than politics or religion and that it was pointless since no one was going to change anybody's mind. It is just an argument waiting to happen.....so SHUT UP!

The white meat is usually dried out and stringy.

This is why you should always brine your turkey before roasting. Guaranteed moist tasty white meat.

12 lb turkey

6 quarts water
2 large onions quartered
1 cup coarse salt (non-iodized)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped fresh ginger
4 bay leaves
4 star anise
12 whole peppercorns

BRINE: Bring to a simmer in a very large pot ,the water and all ingredients up to the turkey in the list. Simmer until sugar and salt are completely disolved. Cool brine COMPLETELY. Do a day ahead if needed. Completely thaw turkey. Rinse and pat dry. Submerge in brine and chill. Marinate overnight or longer. Turn turkey twice.

You can either roast like normal or cook in a BB@ with hickory or apple wood smoke. If your bbq has a temperature gauge, check occaisonally to make sure the temperature doesn't rise over 220 and use an instant read meat thermometer after an hour or so. Depending on the size of your turkey it could take several hours to cook to the desired temperature.

Silent Thanksgivings and American Pravda

Maybe the silent Thanksgiving is a plus. I can just enjoy my turkey and stuffing in peace!

DBQ, I do brine but thanks for the tip! And oopsy daisy, it was considered bad manors in the past to argue about politics and religion. And for the left politics is religion.

MamaM said...

And for the left politics is religion.

There it is. The truth. It's a rule oriented, shame based, better than thou, idealistically oriented, salvation is nigh if only you'd change belief system, functioning as religion by providing meaning, purpose and a place to "belong".

ndspinelli said...

Politics, and causes like global warming have all the characteristics of religion on the left.

The late, great, Michael Crichton gave a speech once where he went point by point how global warming is a secular religion.
