I saw that.

Cute.

I'm seeing some rambling about using the electoral college to overturn the election result. They don't seem to understand how hot is the fire they're stoking. The Tree of Liberty will and should get a healthy meal if that happens.

They're probably just fantasizing.I hope so.

It's important for losers of the popular vote to be really arrogant and rude. It reminds the winners of what they need to keep doing.

Arrogant and rude? Override the constitutionally expressed will of the people and those anti-Trump protests will look like recess at kindergarten.

1. "The people" didn't ask for Trump. I realize you hate the people of this country but the popular vote ("popular" coming from the Latin word for "people") put him at a loss.

2. Whatever this has to do with Starbucks is anyone's guess. Other than, I suppose, right-wingers being very strange and incompetent at how they air their grievance. Especially the "grievance" of not being liked - despite winning through rules that put that same popularity contest second to a silly state-by-state rule.

You LOST the popular vote. The PEOPLE hated both, but ultimately hated YOUR guy even worse. He's not liked and no one can make anybody like him. Not you. Of course, a president is usually a decent and competent enough person to make a semi-successful appeal to unity and the tolerance of dissent that it requires. But you people seem to be pre-emptively lashing out and reprimanding in a sense of almost premonition of how divisive, classless and potentially incompetent he'll be.

Just because your leader's a piece of trash doesn't mean that you have to be. But then, I forget how dependent upon authority the supposedly "independent" conservative mindset really is.

We are, so far, a union of states. Our electoral processes are governed by a constitution. That constitution makes the national vote totals inconsequential. You could look it up.

We The People elected Donald Trump President in accordance with the existing constitutional order. Feel free to try to change that in the future. As for now, you have no acceptable option for preventing his inauguration short of murder.

The rest of us have pledged allegiance to the flag and to the republic for which it stands. We have a duty to honor that pledge. Whatever the cost.

Well said, Rabel @4:08.

All this BS is making me fear for DLT's safety. Hope the SS stays on the job.

Well said, Rabel @4:08.

All she said was that she applauds the use of the laws to put a boot on the neck of democracy. Nothing more, nothing less. Even though she arrogantly demands that there be no repercussions/consequences for her contempt of democratic popular legitimacy. But that is not possible. Trump has no "mandate". He has no experience. He has to earn the respect of the people - the same respect that he thinks so many other people have no right to expect of him.

All this BS is making me fear for DLT's safety.

Lol. You go on fearing. You're sticking up for someone who is defending his descent into an unpopularity that calls any democratic legitimacy on his part into question.

When Democratic presidents don't win something, they change. So will your guy. Deal with it. This is still not a dictatorship, no matter how much Rabel etc. wish it were.

Rabel said...

"popular legitimacy"

That's from Article Eight in Ritmo's copy of the Constitution.

Two things, R&B. You have difficulty with reading comprehension. You have a very warped view of reality. The law is the law, as said above feel free to call for its change. But for now focus on the simple fact that DLT will be America's President come 20Jan17. You want to help this country out, accept that, and work for the common good of all American's.

I'm doing my best XRay, but his opposition will continue to be intense because he feels he is above reaching out to people. He has backtracked as best he can on immigration and some other things. But when he takes the unprecedented step of building a campaign on demonizing people in America, then that's a lot of pissed off and untrusting people he made. He used that belligerence to start what he needed to do to win. But if he wants a win that the American people can believe in, rather than just the technical/legal win that Rabel's animated by, then he has a lot of work to do. More work than any president in living memory. He's staked out positions that were previously simply unconscionable, and he's not convinced anyone that America as a whole has embraced them. He dug his ditch. No one made him throw these divisive, rancorous potshots and rhetorical bombs out there. He did it himself. And he will have to fix it himself. No one owes him anything.

XRay said...

"No one owes him anything." I don't agree with that, though I understand why you are saying it. As I'm also caught up in my own hypocrisy here, as how you feel about DLT is pretty much how I felt about BHO, and still do. So I see the glare there that blinds us only to our own sides. And we could spend countless hours mulling over in great detail the particulars of what is important to the each of us. But, I think we will just have to agree to disagree on the directions we'd prefer our great country to proceed. We've had 8 years of one direction, now we'll take a different tack under a different wind for 4 or 8 years. Hopefully we'll all survive, more importantly that this country will survive and continue to be a beacon of freedom for the world. That's really the bottom line for me.

I am afraid you are mistaken Ritmo. Trump is just not demonizing white people. That's what the Democrats have done the last eight years. That's why he won.

Everything else is bullshit.

"No one owes him anything." I don't agree with that, though I understand why you are saying it.

I'm partly saying it for the reason that you think I'm saying it.

But I'm also saying it because he ran an entire primary and general election campaign built on declaring how independent he was of donors and other politicians. "I'm not beholden to anybody!" Well, that's all well and good, but it also implies that he doesn't need anyone else's support - including the citizens who were appalled at his behavior and general approach to so many things. If he works to earn their support, so be it. But so far the only people whose support he's worked to earn are those who have voted for him. Everyone else - he will have to reach out to.

Trooper York said...

Or not.

He doesn't have to reach out and kiss anybodies ass. But if he does stuff that helps people they will support him.

For instance if he starts an infrastructure plan and engages the black community and helps inner city people get jobs he will get a lot of support. He would work through the churches. He already did this in New York with Hebert Daughtry and Calvin Butts. He will lay off jobs to the black churches and get their people economically sound. If he repeals the Johnson amendment he will have those guys singing his praises day in and day out.

That is how it works in NYC. Ratner did the same thing when he did the Barclay center. You co-opt your opposition by giving them a chance to dip their beak.

Trump knows how to do it.

Trooper York said...

The repeal of the Johnson amendment is one of the main reasons I supported Trump as a matter of fact.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I agree. No one would buy it if he did kiss anyone's ass anyway. He's Trump. The only ass he kisses is his own. Several times an hour, in fact. So this is the good part of the corporate candidacy and presidency. He'll be judged on results. Who he works with to get done the things that need to be done. It will be a more objective and rational assessment than we've ever had before. There's a silver lining to that. In the past people put too much emphasis on the optics, drama and personalities involved in what was done rather than on the good or bad it accomplished.

XRay said...

R&B, other than the first few sentences, which a tad hyperbolic and especially compared to our present mirror looker.

A rational statement with which I agree.

So, lets do that. Judging results. Problem with that perspective is media mind bending.

Actually, I'm tired of all the bullshit. Is there anyone, anymore, anywhere, who can speak the truth, who has influence. I don't think so. We've passed that point.

Troop, despite its success and influence, when I think of NYC, I think of bullshit and shysters, so I'm not sure trying to extrapolate NYC to USA will work. Don't take that personally.
