KLEM FM

Former Pink Floyd bass player Roger Waters compared Trump to Hitler today in a stunning news break reported by Rolling Stone. The noted anti-Semite credits a teenaged-trip to Beirut for making him aware of injustice and inequality.

Waters was born in 1943 and was a teen between the years of 1956 to 1963.

Did anything significant happen in the Middle East between 1956 and 1963?

Meanwhile, welcome to the machine:

There was the Suez War in '56, but that's all, and, unless his parents were extreme Lefties, the West was on the side of the Israelis.

You didn't see any pro-Arab stuff until the time of the Vietnam War when everything was radicalized and Maoized.

I put out this series -- "Rock Bottoms for Rodham" -- to show how rock artists having 30, 40, 50 years experience reading the public are now out of tune.

Yeah, Lebanon started to turn from the Paris of the Middle East to a shit hole.

No, that was much later.

It was still the Pearl of the Levant back then.

ed, the Lebanese demographic decline was already well under way in the early sixties...

Jeez, I would think you (of all people) would get that. Lebanese Christians stopped having as many kids as Muslims and mostly got breed out of their country. Yeah, the golden age of Lebanon was the late sixties, but it turned out to be a Sunset.

From my casual exposure in high school, I came to believe that Pink Floyd was a bad influence. Music for drug bodies. "We don't need no education" on the radio was objectionable. Irresponsible rich guys.

Pink Floyd along with other bands from England suffered from that post WW2 english malaise. No future, no hope, just a country that was rebuilding from being a burned out husk after the war. These guys grew up in an atmosphere of depression and keeping a stiff upper lip during times of adversity and they rejected it. Their music reflects that as a different way of saying, "Fuck you."
