Porcine Freakshow

This post is a continuation-in-part from here and here.

Roger Waters closed out a huge nostalgic boomer fest in Indio, California last weekend. His newest contribution to entertainment was an out-sized inflatable pig festooned with Trump insignia. The noted anti-Semite also took time to excoriate Israel and to heap praise on Palestine, which apparently caused some backlash in the audience:
While Waters's anti-Trump stance elicited cheers, albeit not universally, his statement on Israel drew a more muted response with some fans clapping but others booing and at least one proudly waving an Israeli flag as a counter-protest.
Waters is well-known for his criticism of Israeli policy and in 2013 came under fire from Israel supporters for putting a Star of David on the inflatable pig. link

Waters' former bandmates were right about Roger being an OCD freak.

I liked Pink Floyd for 5 seconds in the 70s. I'm rather proud of that.

#1 Over rated band of the century.

Speaking of pigs.... Trump should make something of this.

Roger Waters is a pig.

Nice timing for Waters for Yom Kippur

Indio is home to the Annual Date Festival every year. Took my family there back in the 90's. I like dates, but my grandma LOVED them. Date milkshakes are pretty good.

LOL. Annual and every year is redundant..I know.

There are a lotta Jews in nearby Palm Springs, which would account for the boos. Sherman's Deli in Palm Springs is the best deli I've been in west of NYC.

Why on earth would anyone pay money to see these silly rock shows? I am so over going to concerts.

Is there anything more annoying than a bubble-dwelling Jew hating corruptocrat supporting wealthy rock star? (oh perhaps - a bubble dwelling Jew hating corruptocrat supporting actor.)
Why do people continue to support this crap?

April, I'm with you on concerts. I sometimes still get dragged to them, but it has to be the worst way to take in music. I love live music, but waiting in line for everything surrounded by thousands of deafening people just sucks. It's always too loud, impossible to get a drink or food, cramped, and usually too far away to even know if it's really the band or imposters lip syncing. The music never stops, and if it does it's still loud. You can't even speak to anyone until it's over. Poor sound, poor service, poor view, no conversation, and puke. I love live music in a small venue like a club or a bar with tables and breaks between songs. Or at home with me in control of everything. I've noticed that everything is better with me in control. Admittedly, this is controversial in my circle, but the science is settled.

I have zero tolerance for anyone who supports Palestinian aggression and attacks Israel. A litmus test of wisdom, morality, and compassion.

I was cleaning out my email last night and came across some emails from Aridog. A strong, sweet, wonderful man who I never met in person, but still came to love just from his words and actions. I don't know if we are making anymore like that.

bag, I have kept in touch w/ Aridog's girlfriend and daughter after meeting them @ Richard's funeral. They are having a burial ceremony @ Arlington National Cemetery on 11/10/16 @ 1p. I don't think I can make it but am going to try. Anyone in the area who wants to attend let me know, I'll put you in touch w/ his friend, Judith.

Bagoh - 100%.

For me, even the smaller venues (which I agree are so so much better) do not work. The loud music kills me. (I suffer horrible tinnitus, and even loud restaurants drive me up a wall) Being in control is so much more satisfying.

Yes - battling crowds and jerks and drunks and... and it's not like there is any value. These mega-rock shows are so expensive. eh - *get off my lawn.* ;-)
Exactly - You come out against Israel - boom, you landed on sh*t list.

Hey, burial at Arlington on the Marine Corps' birthday. Not too shabby, Aridog!!
ND-Thanks for the update and for maintaining contact.

Grandma April and Grandpa Bags are tired of them kids with their noisy rockin' and rollin'. You're not alone but you should have the personal insight (at least you, Bags) to understand how your age has influenced your perceptions.

I understand it, and I think it's a good thing. I liked concerts when I was young because it was new, and was a kid thing away from adults, but it got old for me long before I did. My partner/girlfriend is my age and still loves them, so it's not just age.

We really need a word for the person who is just like a spouse in every way except the paperwork. "Spouse" or "wife" isn't accurate. "Girlfriend" sounds silly at our age. "Lover" is insufficient. "Partner" is most accurate, but it can confuse people about whether it's personal or professional, and can leave people wondering if you're gay. To make it more confusing, her name is Phil.

Maybe my favorite venue for enjoying music is while driving.

Grandma April will not give Rabel any argument.

I had to re-think that. Red Rocks concerts are good memories.

What I do love is outdoor concerts in smaller towns like Vegas. They might be in a big grassy park with plenty of parking and room to stretch out and move around, and being outside, you can usually talk over the music if needed. You can't do that in a place like L.A.. It gets packed with assholes, gang members, and diapers. I guess "assholes" covers all that.

Last summer I saw Boz Scaggs play an outdoor concert under a full moon. Perfect weather, no bugs, his voice was as good as ever and he had a great blues band. I don't expect to ever see another like it. Before that I can't remember when the last concert was that I saw.

As best I recall, a college age Rabel had multiple motivations for attending musical concerts.

These were:

A. Pussy.
B. Pussy.
C. Pussy.
D. Music Appreciation.

This explains why I have multiple Gino Vannelli ticket stubs.

Rabel said...

And yes, two of those tickets did lead to paradise.

Rabel said...

Wait, that was Eddie Money. Same result.

Your "partner" is named "Phil"? I hate to break it to you Bags, but, uh, - you're gay.

;)

Gino Vannelli - LOL

Black cars are cooler in the shade, man.
