wild flowers

Let's draw a picture. We don't have to submit to unfortunate matters that tug at us due to our serious nature and occupy our critically thinking analytical minds. We don't have to put up with the ugly things that others insist upon doing. We don't have to live like that. Come on.  Let's allow ourselves to connect with our earlier selves. When nothing like all of that mattered. It doesn't even have to be good. It's not like we're making a living at this. Let's go away for awhile. Let's pretend that we're French. Let's put on our accents. And be a couple of nuts for awhile.

Tres impressionniste.

God, I wish I could do stuff like that.

yes, start with separation of light from dark, add a firmament above and dry land below, sprinkle the whole thing with vegetation and seed bearing plants. The ancient story tellers knew what they were doing in passing along a template which to this day plays out in stories and visual representations that delight and invite a response of one kind or another.

Really nice. Question: did you simplify into flattened shapes from a photograph or was it all done from your head?

I saw a photo in Arizona Highways that appealed to me. And drew it from memory. It was titled morning glories and I didn't know they grow like that. I also liked the black blobs of the mountains. (I was in the bathroom.) I studied what I liked about the photo. The flowers like piano keys, their arrangement. I studied the color blocks and I studied the random grass and twigs.

Oh, I studied the sky gradient behind the mountains.

That issue has a lot more photographs much better than this one. It's all about parks, petrified forest and others. This is a less significant park without any outstanding features like oddly shaped eroded rock or native indian places, one that I never heard of.

I thought how I could do this in layers. A painting would be done differently.

Now, it's like a dream that's recalled. I haven't bothered but I bettcha it matches quite well. The park is Co....something. Coronado, I think. Memorial, not park. That's what stuck out.

Arizona HIghways. It's awesome. Recommended.
