David Horowitz: Trump gives the speech I have spent 20 years trying to get a Republican to give

I skipped up to the part when he begins the speech

Of course the news media and the naysayers will do all they can to poo poo it.

He will continue in this vein as this is the work of his new team including Kellyann Conway and the head of Breitbart News who have taken over. Also Roger Ailes has come in as a full time consultant and he knows something about campaigns and the media. The TV ads will start next month. After the Olympics. Then the debates. There is a long way to go.

Some great moments in that speech

I am running to listen to your voice, to hear your cries for help. The quiet voices in our society, not the loudest demonstrators, need to have their demands heard.

Jobs. Safety. Opportunity. Fair and equal representation.

We reject the bigotry of Hillary Clinton which panders to and talks down to communities of color and sees them only as votes, not as individual human beings worthy of a better future. She doesn’t care at all about the hurting people of this country, or the suffering she has caused them.

I am running to offer you a much better future. Crime and violence is an attack on the poor and it will never be accepted in a Trump administration

Who else of the 16 would have said it like that.

PS Troop, you got it. Recognizing that Labor Day is when the campaign shifts into high gear, he brings in people for that phase, just as he brought in Manafort for the convention, just as Lewandowski ran the primaries.

The media is painting this as a desperation move, but, when you look at the specialty of these people, you see the idiocy of the charge

PPS Does Cacklepants wear a catheter? It would explain the housecoats, the long bathroom breaks, and the newest wrinkle (no pun), pillows under her back.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

The announcement of the campaign additions "shake up" took this off the headlines.

I'm Full of Soup said...

Lem you are right - why did they even announce the campaign staff changes?

Trooper York said...

Lem this will never be a headline. The corrupt media will not cover it. They will find some other distraction.

Ed has it right. Trump used Corey for the street fighting to get the nomination. He got Manafort to calm the cucks and run the convention so the RNC would be on board. Now he went to media experts like Bannon, Conway and Ailes to run the final push. It is that simple.

Trooper York said...

The announced it to give the media something to focus on. If they didn't have this they would have found something else to obsess about.

So you give them something. In the meantime you use your social media to reach out to people directly. Unlike prior elections the black community would be engaged because they are heavily engaged in social media. So reach a hell of a lot more people with a tweet than a panel discussion on CNN. It is a new paradigm.

Now they can start the commercials in targeted areas leading up to Labor Day. Anything they spent before that would have been wasted Bush style.

I think Roger Ailes still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Just sayn'

This troika of speeches (Detroit-economics, Youngstown-foreign policy, and now West Bend-law and order) are making speeches great again.

Trooper York said...

Speeches are part of the mix. But it only excites political junkies like us. The normal American is watching the Olympics or on vacation or just not paying attention. The usual suspects are panicing and concern trolling and saying he is so far behind he can never catch up.

Well the low information voter has a short attention span. He will not focus in until much later in the cycle. Trump knows how to get their attention by his many years on TV. He brought in some media experts to help him. Naturally they are being trashed by the people who are invested in Trump failing. That is all you are going to hear. "He has to do it the way it has always been done." Bannon in particular thinks that is bullshit. He might be wrong but I for one think it is the right way to go. Let Trump be Trump. Pound away. Repetition is king. Don't listen to the consultants who have a record of failure that is unparalleled in modern political history.

Ailes may be one of those guys the Lefties hate, but they also fear him - with good reason.

When Murdoch let Ailes run Fox, he made it a powerhouse that the Lefties - who controlled, what, 8 news operations? - couldn't destroy and made it the GoTo (see what I did there?) place if you wanted the facts.

If you remember the little riff played in "The Magnificent Seven" every time Yul Brynner hired another gunfighter, that's what's going on here - Now you're really in trouble, I got Charlie Bronson, Jimmy Coburn, Steve McQueasy, Napoleon Solo, and that German guy playing a Mexican, and all you got is an old woman with a colostomy bag.

PS I'll bet Ailes does, too. He was the one who got every R President elected since Ike and this is how he will work with Trump

Ailes is credited with the "Orchestra Pit Theory" regarding sensationalist political coverage in the news media, which originated with his quip:

"If you have two guys on a stage and one guy says, 'I have a solution to the Middle East problem,' and the other guy falls in the orchestra pit, who do you think is going to be on the evening news?"

In the immortal words of Thomas Edward Lawrence right before he went to the sandbox, "This is going to be fun".

Trooper York said...

I do think the Ailes has a score to settle with a lot of people. So he will go balls to the wall. Being a political consultant does not fall into this do not compete clause so he is going to pull out all stops to get Trump elected.

ricpic said...

Troop, speeches are of course part of the mix and watched by very few (I get that). But they are important because those sound bites become the barbs Trump will be throwing at Hillary at the debates. I wish this was all going on before the conventions, and certainly immediately following the conventions, but the best time to plant an oak tree is twenty years ago and the second best time is today.

Trooper York said...

Low information voters. Limited attention spans. Distractions. Convinced by the last person they spoke to. Distracted by the summer fun and not paying attention.

It is all part of the mix. It is going to be a new way of doing things. Not what Karl Rove advises. Not what Rick the loser Wilson advises. Not what Joe the Intern Killer Scarborough advises.

Social media. Talking over the head of the media. In fact relentlessly attacking and delegitimizing the media as the corrupt Democratic Lap Dogs that they are. Commercials when the time is right not when it racks up fees for the consultant class and influence for the big donors.

Very glad to see Trump pulling it together and that there is a debate on the schedule.

We hope. Cacklepants is going downhill at an alarming rate.

PS Off Team Jacobson (off the sidebar)

Liz Cheney wins her primary to run for WY's sole Congressional seat.

What makes this interesting is 2 things: what she ran on:

She campaigned “on national security and rolling back federal regulations affecting Wyoming’s beleaguered coal industry.”

And the fact she made a very public endorsement of The Donald last week.

I ended up watching this speech three times. YouTube and twice on different news channels. (It was on in the when I was messing with photographing lightning and doing other things online and drawing using a cell phone app and watering the plants outside)

But you know what?

Drudge's coverage of Hillary is very hurtful. It's painful personally reading his aggressively damaging entries.

Because I've suffered those same afflictions.

I pooed my pants from spaz medication.

I've taken long breaks in the bathroom dealing with wet poo when I really needed to be present. Several incidents come to mind.

I hold onto railings and backs of chairs just walking to keep balance.

People assist me up stairs, people grab me when it looks like I'm tipping over.

Just walking around freaks people out.

I tire easily and look exhausted sometimes.

It's all so very personal, then there's Drudge pointing out how all that makes her incompetent. Unfit for office. For being like me. What a BUMMER!

That fuckface.

GAWL!

I kind of like how Trump modulates all that. So much damaging things he could use. He holds back a lot given what we know of his nature. He could be rotten as Drudge, but he holds back, and that restraint speaks to his character, or his awareness if he indulged to the extent that Drudge does that it would reflect poorly as not presidential. While we know what he's thinking. The same rotten things.

Nothing wrong with any of that physical challenges. Except when you're running for president. I suppose. Best for Hillary to just take it easy, relax, as I do, but she cannot. Her entire life is aimed for this moment. Pity for her she breaks down physically right at the finish line.

I feel a laughing fit coming on.

And yet, all that campaigning and nefarious activities to keep track of and control must take an additional serious toll.

A toll she so richly deserves. My preference is to see her obsession break her completely. My pleasure is to see her smashed. To bits.

While I continue living a comfortable life of ease.

I must now pray.

Dear Lord, please forgive me all my ill wishes and spare me the hazards I wish upon another. Thank you. *puts on innocent face*

*slinks away*

I coached baseball from normal times[70's] when there were winners and losers, players got cut, etc. to the false self esteem era of nowadays. You know, where a kid makes 4 errors in one inning or strikes out looking 5 straight times and it's expected to heap praise "for trying." Well, I was always positive. You can't play baseball w/ negative vibes. But, I wasn't going to praise a kid for faux "trying." I mean if he busted his butt down the line, or laid out trying to catch a line drive, I would praise them for effort. But, if a kid made a routine play I wasn't going to pretend he just made a spectacular play. Making a routine play got a "attaboy" and that was it.

I watched this speech. It gets a "great job" for saying what needs to be said. An A for balls. But, it gets an attaboy for the speech itself. The MSM never have nothing positive to say. The Trump lovers here treat him like he's a retard and just solved a quantum physics problem. It's really hilarious to watch. The truth is, as is often the case, somewhere in the middle. Most normal people who don't eat sleep and drink politics see the truth in the middle.

Manafort was demoted because he was about to become a huge liability due to his past insider money moving for nefarious forces. Bannon is a slimeball who betrayed Breitbart and changed his company from a much needed honorable warrior to an all too common opportunistic toady.
Conway looks like a really smart choice, maybe the first one.

The important thing is that Trump said the right things and said them the right way. He just needs to keep doing it now, and he needs to avoid getting distracted by the trolls or his own ego. Did he really need someone to tell him this was the right strategy? I hope not, and I'm going to assume for my own sanity that he came to the realization himself. It's all still just words, but that is how most people pick their candidate. This speech and the reaction shows you just how easy this would have been all along. He only has to beat the worst candidate in history - a woman who through a lifetime in politics never accomplished anything and may actually have gotten worse at the basic skills like giving a speech, talking to the press, connecting with people and making them trust you. Seriously, she is incredibly bad at her chosen profession even after spending her life surrounded by people who were some of the best. The fact that she is even close in the polls, let alone leading across the board, is just disappointing.

Wow, somebody's been reading the media and taking them at face value. Do you believe Trump was about to leave the race, too?

This speech and the reaction shows you just how easy this would have been all along. He only has to beat the worst candidate in history - a woman who through a lifetime in politics never accomplished anything and may actually have gotten worse at the basic skills like giving a speech, talking to the press, connecting with people and making them trust you.

Well, first he had to get past all those people who said he wasn't the right sort of person to be the nominee.

He only has to beat a candidate with the Left behind her with a fanatical zeal, who will tell any lie and have no compunction about destroying anyone who gets in their way, who control almost all the mass media and most universities in this country, who control the flow of information and ideas.

He "only" has to beat that, a mere bagatelle. You'd think one of the more suitable candidates would have put her away in the primaries.

But who? Among all 16 who were found wanting by those fools, the voters, who would have been up to the task?

We're told a couple were outpolling her in February. Wow, that couldn't have been no more than name recognition, could it? One of those later ruefully admitted he wasn't up to the task and joined someone who was. The other couldn't even take his own state because he sold out his constituents and is now dependent on how Trump does to save his career.

Trump is there because he had the best message. Little Marco, Jeb!, the One True Ted, and the rest couldn't cut it then and wouldn't have had the guts to go after Cacklepants the way Trump has.

BTW, when he says, "The fact that she is even close in the polls, let alone leading across the board, is just disappointing", tells us just how difficult a candidate she is to beat.

Unless, of course, she keels over. Then we get the Comedy Sidekick.

nd, the 70s were "normal times?" I was watching a documentary on PBS last night about the rise of Reagan. (I know! PBS. They didn't even have many Reagan disparagers in it, other than Edmund Morris.) The 70s were totally effed up. I'd forgotten how much because I was just a kid at the time but many parallels to now except that the drooling globalist/statist goonsquad hadn't figured out how to conceal the truth as effectively. Everyone was less cynical but more sensible. We got lucky. I felt nauseous but slightly better for watching it.

Last night Zogby said Trump was even with Cacklepants on older millennials and women and moving up, and led with Independents, men, and was moving up past where Romney was with Hispanics.

The LA Times poll, which has been getting a lot of notice because it's gone against the Lefty media, has this little bon mot to go alongside its claim Trump has 30$ Hispanic support - which is better than Romney did.

LAT says The Donald has 14% support among blacks.

Seems to me one of the old standbys of the half century has been, if the Demos lose more than 5% of the black vote, they're toast. Even Van Jones said so.

I also recall someone saying a good candidate gains voters (maybe, the trick is not to lose any). Seems like that's what we have.

edutcher said...

Amartel, the kindest thing anybody said about them was "It was the decade Taste forgot".

Watergate, which was a joke compared to the 90s and the last 8 years, and 'Nam were used by the Left to tear the country apart. Ol' Bucketmouth described the country he'd been "leading" for 4 years as being in a malaise.

It ended with an economy with double digit inflation, unemployment, and interest rates, hostages in Iran, the Russkies in A-stan (Goofy boycotted the Olympics to show how mad he was), the country a laughingstock around the world, rampant crime in the streets - thanks to the courts making sure the criminals had "rights", and Disco.

Trump got the people who he needed for each stage of the campaign. He had Corey for the bare knuckled street fighting of the primaries. He was great at that. When his time was up he moved on and stayed on the team. Manafort came on board as the RNC face during the convention to reassure the cucks. We had a relatively smooth convention and some good fund raising from the grass roots. Not from the big money special interest like the Koch's who like bags are against Trump because he is not a globalist sell out. His time was over as we go into the home stretch. He was replaced by a troika of very savvy media types in Conway, Bannon and as the éminences grises Roger Ailes.

The one thing that reassures me is that bags evidently hates Bannon. That is a good sign. That is a very good sign.

I said it was going to be a great speech before he made it. As was his speech on foreign policy. As was his speech on the economy. Each laid out a comprehensive plan in common sense plain language without the boiler plate political bullshit that you get from sing song Hillary. It was in the main politically incorrect and hit all or at least most of the points that the so called conservatives demanded.

Of course it was not enough. It will never be enough. There are always nits to pick. The one today was that it wasn't enough that he made the speech to talk to the black community. According to the corrupt media he had do it in Milwaukee. At the burned out gas station. While dodging bullets. Otherwise it don't count.

We have a long way to go. Nothing is decided. The media and the democrats are beating a drum that it is all over. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

ed, the crazy "taste" aspect of the 70s was actually the best part. Yeah, the fashions and the hair was, erm, wide and loud and proud but at least it wasn't the suffocating sameness of today's kids. They all look alike. Scruffy and somnolent and downcast and vaguely ashamed. Shuffling around. I feel bad for them and at the same time there's a competing urge to slap them and advise them to snap out of it already. Ditto the music. It's all segregated now and it all sounds the same within its different genres. Whiny dudebros, aggressive grrls, choruses of acoustic woe and regret, thumpathumparudewords. There's some good music but not much. I worked in the summers starting when I was 8 (we lived way out in the sticks then) so I heard a lot of radio back then. It was great pop music all mixed together. Maybe because we only had two radio channels that weren't farm report and religion based. The movies were so much better, too. And the cars. Transportation in general. TV sucked but we didn't know any better.

Movies were rather cheesy, due to low production values - cinema verite was in, and, except for some good stuff like "The Sting", the 80s and 90s were much better, and, after '65, music lost me until Reagan came in and then it got a ton better. The best you can say about music in the 70s was Anne Murray and Karen Carpenter, the rest was heavy metal, acid, soul, disco, and people like Gilbert O'Sullivan.

TV was suffering from all the phony Peace and Love of the 60s, plus the added expense of going all color (3 times more expensive making for a much shorter season) and the creeping Leftism of the nets. The last Westerns, for example, were gone by mid-decade.

When your only genres are Archie Bunker comedies and cop shows, it gets thick pretty quick. As for the stuff since, you can have most of it. "The A-Team" was fun, but there weren't too many things on that were that enjoyable.

I only hate Bannon because I loved Breitbart. A man of real vision with the love of truth as his motivation - not hate, not butthurt, not self-aggrandizement, nor naked opportunism.

I must tell ya though, reading this blog is the one thing I do that turns me off to Trump more than anything else. It's not him, it's the irrational blindness he invokes in some people. It reminds me of Capt. Then the fat fish ate him.

The best part of the naming of Bannon is the fact that he will fight against the forces arrayed against the Trump campaign instead of trying to turn Trump into a mealy mouth piece of shit like Mitt.

The reaction of the #Nevertrump scumbags is epic. Billy Kristol shit a hemorrhage. He said on Joe "I murdered an Intern and got away with it" Scarborough: " a more appropriate moniker for Breitbart News would be “right-wing intolerant mean-spirited news.”

If the crap weasels are this frenzied it must mean that they are worried that Bannon is going to help Trump win. Hilarious.

The year was 1975 and these kids were TOUGH. This was back when black kids actually played baseball. There were no hovering parents. There were no snacks. There was no coddling. They do it because they want to, they need to, they have a philosophy to defend, or they can't control themselves or their emotion. I'm proud of what I have said here, and still will be whether Trump wins or goes down in a flaming crash much worse than Romney or McCain did. I have not sacrificed my principles for a man, a woman, a sales pitch, or a party. Actually, I think you overestimate the Beast a great deal.

My point in the last day or so has been that, just for the sake of argument, Trump brings home 14% of blacks, cracks the 30% mark with Hispanics, takes the Indies and the older half of millennials, splits or maybe even gets the majority of the women's vote, takes older (>=50) voters, low - mid middle income voters (35 - 75K), and the young millennials along with a few other choice groups don't come out in the numbers needed for Cacklepants.

What if the LAT and Zogby are giving us the real deal (surprise)?

How many states might be in play then?
