"Something is wrong in TrumpWorld"

Byron York: Joining the crowd, a Trump adviser becomes a former adviser

"It's all informal," Bennett told CBS News back in January, when he joined Trump. "I've been talking to them about some of the things that they need to do, some of the new problems that will be coming their way..."

Bennett ended up doing a lot of TV appearances in which he was identified as a senior adviser to the Trump campaign. And then, in the last few days, Bennett has been identified as a former senior advisor to the Trump campaign. Quickly and quietly, Bennett became "former."

Even as it tries to build up, the Trump campaign has been hemorrhaging staff in recent days. Republicans Kevin Kellems, Erica Freeman, Vincent Harris, and now Bennett have all left recently — Harris after two days on the job and Kellems after a little less than three weeks. And that is on top of Trump's firing of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski. Earlier, Rick Wiley, a former top Republican National Committee official and Scott Walker campaign chief, also left Trump after a brief tenure.

Among GOP politicos not associated with the campaign, there's a commonly-accepted explanation: As an organization, TrumpWorld is a mess. "Total dysfunction, zero plan, bifurcated leadership, and a principal who is so unwilling to be staffed it makes it impossible to have any self respect, pride in your work or sense of accomplishment," one veteran of many Republican campaigns told me.

Hmm, I thought it was commonly accepted the Trump organization was lean.

But, hey, those people deserve to have been let go. They were Trumpist thugs, right (just saving April the trouble).

But, then, maybe they were just too Whiggish.

Yeah, nothing like the One True Ted. Or Jeb!.

Trump's screwing up so badly he's ahead of Rodham by 4 points in the latest poll.

That line, "Earlier, Rick Wiley, a former top Republican National Committee official and Scott Walker campaign chief", struck me.

These guys are used to consultants by the dozen, and their counsel being scrupulously followed.

Trump clearly doesn't want to go down the same road as Walker.

Because all of this is a snow job for Hillary. it's a mountain of lies.

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

He's not supposed to be beating Hillary in ANY poll. She wasn't supposed to get caught with her private server.

Yeah, it just blows all of April's paranoia straight to Hell.

Trump is losing big with unmarried women in swing states. But hey - losing is winning!

Since I am not on the inside of the Trump organization, (nor anyone else who comments here) all I can do is speculate.

The fact that the guys who are leaving or moving on seem to be "veteran" operatives makes me think that the "good ole boys" want to continue to do business as usual and Trump does not. Following the methods and modes that they have always used in the past. Like Rove, unable to cope with a different type of campaign and a different type of candidate. As if Rove and his little machine is such a good thing since they lost the last two runs at the White House in a very "sad" manner.

The advice they are giving is not what the Trump campaign....and Trump himself wants to take. I'm guessing hectoring him about fund raising so he can spend a billion dollars on useless television ads. People do not watch television in the same way they did when Walter Cronkite was trying to lecture us on how it is the way it is. After all....that's how "we've always done it". Flyers that get tossed in the mail. Phone calls that are caller id blocked. Billboards that no one looks at. And so on. It ain't the 60's or even the 90's anymore.

The old guys can't wrap their heads around a new and different method. Whether these methods will actually and ultimately be successful remains to be seen.

There are probably other problems as well since Trump seems to be someone who doesn't give up control easily and probably doesn't take nagging from old crusty operatives very well. That there may be more than one person who is calling some of the shots...I suspect that there IS one or more of his sons. This is a completely new venture and there will be lots of adjusting.

This type of jockeying for position in campaigns goes on all the time. To the voters, this is really pretty much a non issue. The media is just breathlessly and maliciously making it a much bigger deal than it is. Ratings and selling papers and all that.

Behind with the one group that typified Julia last time out and we should all panic.

That, and anything off PJMedia regarding Trump needing to be taken with a grain of salt.

Don't feel bad if we all don't jump off the cliff with you.

BTW, how did the One True Ted do with those people, hmmm? I'll bet no better.

That was my point about Walker. These are the people that seem to specialize in losing (not to mention the people who feed PJMedia most of their material).

The Ozark Mafia and their friends keep coming off as ham-handed while Trump floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

It ain't the 60's or even the 90's anymore.

That's what keeps hitting me. The Ozarks are firmly entrenched in the 90s because that worked for them.

Then. The fact Pissy blew them away doesn't seem to have connected.

That there may be more than one person who is calling some of the shots...I suspect that there IS one or more of his sons.

Troop thinks it's Ivanka who, like her mother has brains and is a major babe. Of course, he doesn't care about the babe part.

You don't need money or staff when your campaign is a mirage.

edutcher said...

A mirage that blew away 16 better-funded and larger-staffed opponents.

Apparently, the Demos, Choom Gang or Ozark Mafia, aren't treating the Trump train as if it's a mirage, but mirages are only seen by people who have become addled by the sun and heat.

PS Notice when you shoot a hole in April's devastating data, she ignores it ever after?

Anti-Trump single women are losing big with men in swing states too. So there's that.

I watched the beloved Mr. Cotton on MTP this morning. He was good at skewering Hillary although that's like shooting fish in a barrel. However, he was encouraged, prodded, given every opportunity to praise Trump and he did not.

I think Palin is trying to get a do over. With Trump who the fuck knows? He may offer Bernie the job.

If you want to ignore that Trump's campaign is a fraud - you do it. I cannot stop you.

Believe!

Polling better with a demographic, especially one like young unmarried girls/women means not much. What counts is does that group actually go out and vote. If not, then it is all an illusion.

The Brexit vote clearly illustrates the folly of relying on polls. The young who were overwhelmingly for staying, did not vote. Thus...they didn't win because, I guess they had something better to do that day.

"Total dysfunction, zero plan, bifurcated leadership, and a principal who is so unwilling to be staffed it makes it impossible to have any self respect, pride in your work or sense of accomplishment,"

Waaaah. He wouldn't listen to what I told him to do (even though we lost the last few campaigns I was so brilliantly in charge of). How can I have "pride" if no one will take my sage (losing) advice. He wants to run his campaign HIS way. Who does he think he IS....the candidate or something???? The guy with all the money, his business empire and his reputation on the line??? I quit. [flounces off in a huff]

edutcher said...

oopsy, I'm sure you flounce better, in or out of a huff.

Riiiight. Again the beat all the other 16 people. Don't you have anything to say about that?

Of course not; trolls are taught to ignore negative - and effective - arguments.

The Ted campaign was the one that was a fraud. They knew they couldn't win last Labor Day, but kept stringing along people like April.

Horrible. In one moment this kid's life has been changed if not destroyed. Meanwhile the media goes ho hum and OOOOH look someone on Trump's campaign quit.

The ramping up of terrorism in the US and the stated goal of ISIS to try to harm only "white people" so that there isn't any blow back of homosexual targeting, hispanics, racists etc. makes us a bit reluctant to attend some of our favorite events this year.

Hot August Nites, which draws crowds of tens of thousands for days of mostly white guys and gals, which involves a lot of expensive cars in and around many casinos could be an attractive draw. I think we'll skip it for now.

Besides, registered is not the issue. Get to the polls and vote is the issue and motivation is on Trump's side.

If you do that, you give them what they want (cliche, I know).

You're statistical chances of getting caught in something like that are probably worse than getting hit crossing the street. You're better off exercising your concealed carry.

PS Since Puffington is trumpeting nd's version of the Cotton interview, I'll wait till I hear what Troop says.

Its a good thing Kasich didn't get nominated because we'd be finding out what a secret racist he is, how he pulled all kinds of corrupt deals on Wall Street, and how he hates women.

rcocean said...

Even with constant MSM and "nevertrump" praise and support Kasich was so bad he couldn't even beat Cruz.

The second he'd been nominated the MSM would've turned on him and showed him to be a flip-flopping snotty clown who hates blacks, working people, Gays, and Women.
