Mmmmm, smörgåsbord!

People still fly like that, but only on chartered flights or dedicated first class.

Proles demanded the cheapest available flights and their wish came true!

Isn't pork a crime now in Sweden? 🐷

That was when flying was fun and gracious and pampering and the seats were ample and well spaced and your feet didn't touch the floor. Oh wait, I guess flying is actually intended for children. Nevermind.

I flew Air France in 1970. The food came in tv dinner trays like all the other airlines.

In 1965 Burger King whoppers looked like this (in the ads).

But then, come to think of it, the cost of flying then was rather high too. And you thought about it before hopping a plane and flying off because Grandma sneezed and she won't be around forever you know, or it's little Timmy's birthday and they don't stay six years old forever, or your cousin twice removed graduated cosmology school, or your one-time neighbor's chihuahua is home from the vet. Just saying, nowadays people fly at the drop of a hat and cheap fares invite all kind of wasteful nonsense, and while I'm at it, get off my goddamn yard.

I never did fly in a plane without any windows. This must have been a cargo plane.

Is that bread gluten free?

Well, they weren't hiding the salami on that flight.

But, they were hiding the windows behind the curtains.

Can't have knives like that on a modern airliner. It would ruin the purpose of TSA, and TSA must be, so no knives.

My old man was blue collar but always wore a tie and jacket when he flew until the day he died in 1989.

That's because the Slob culture came after he had grown up.

Grown ups take pride in their appearance. What we have now are a lot of unevolved hippies still trying to Speak Truth To Power when they have been the power for 40 years.

Judging from these photos, Pippi and Ingmar were probably paid escorts.

It looks like the World Airways flight, under MATS contract, servicing the Pacific Missle Range. A 24 hour trip on a DC6 each way, overnights in Honolulu.

Lots of food. Size of passenger area varied widely with cargo load.

Yeah, most people didn't fly in 1969. I can remember in the late 70s, anyone in my high school who went to Hawaii on vacation was considered "Rich".

Nowdays, every friend of my daughter expects to go on a vacation to Hawaii/Caribbean/Mexico every winter.
