"Russian government hackers penetrated DNC, stole opposition research on Trump"

Washington PostThe intruders so thoroughly compromised the DNC’s system that they also were able to read all email and chat traffic, said DNC officials and the security experts.

The intrusion into the DNC was one of several targeting American political organizations. The networks of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were also targeted by Russian spies, as were the computers of some Republican political action committees, U.S. officials said. But details on those cases were not available.

Some of the hackers had access to the DNC network for about a year, but all were expelled over the past weekend in a major computer cleanup campaign, the committee officials and experts said.

The DNC said that no financial, donor or personal information appears to have been accessed or taken, suggesting that the breach was traditional espionage, not the work of criminal hackers.

Russian hackers penetrating the DNC better get a medical check up.

Anybody wanna bet Cacklepants' server showed them the way?

Leaked already. Doesn't seem suspicious to me.

I have some sad news. Aridog died two days ago, 6/13/16 @ 7:15p ET. He was blessed prior to dying by a good friends, Zbigniew, a Catholic priest. Dick was a recent convert. His wife and daughter think he decided to put it in God's hand, that he couldn't take the chemo and pain any longer. Ari's wife, Judi, would like to read some posts Ari has made over the years. I'm hoping Lem and Trooper can go through their archives and get those to her. Lem, you can message me via Twitter and I will get you Judi's email. You can certainly share her email w/ anyone you see fit. I just don't want to publish it. Judi says Ari[Dick Thompson] has not been himself since December. I last communicated w/ Dick in February I think. He was trying to be upbeat, but that was Ari. My prayers are for his wife and daughter, believing Ari is @ peace w/ the Good Lord.

Thanks for letting us know. Good guy.

Nick, thanks for sending along that news. I'm utterly saddened by this news. My heart and prayers are with his family. Damn.

Sorry to hear it.

We had our differences, but he always played it straight.

I see how to do that.

Through dashboard to comments.

It says there are 153,689 comments beginning 7/9/13, change it to display 100 per page over 1537 pages.

Searching "Aridog" Found one on the like the 15th try. page 1507 early, 7/17/13 (undoubtedly some before this, I skipped)

The comment links to his profile.

We can remove content, delete, or mark spam. (don't know the difference between remove and delete but those are the choices)

Aw bless, he remarks about Allen:

After reading every line on this open thread, I notice a missing party...where is AllenS? Next to Rabel, Allen was the most succinct of commenters. I envy that because I don't seem able to do it. on

Well, this can be quite a task.

But what a great way to hear his voice in conversation.

Con permiso.

May I suggest passing the keys so they can browse the conversations themselves? Page after page after page at their leisure. [On the other hand, a selection of good ones makes a tremendous gift.]

Too bad one comment cannot pull up all the rest like labels do. I do not see how to do that. The search for Aridog brings up results for the page being viewed. If there were a way to download all published comments and search the entire thing all at once then the project would be speeded considerably. I don't see a way offered to that.

I think it's possible to backup the entire blog onto your hard drive then search that for Aridog. Since Blogger is not making it convenient. Well, kind of convenient in 100 comment increments, but Lordy, you guys sure do talk a lot. A guy like Aridog can hardly get a word in edgewise.

His guest posts come up via regular blog search on Lem's front page upper left.
There is a guest post on 4th of July. And a few more.

One of the results shows Aridog in the labels. Clicking on that shows repeated content from previous search.

Perhaps Google can help. [blogger, search all comments]

The first page has useful hints but its links are all broken.

AHA!

Here ya go, Daddy-o This here is watchya call coding, done in the develop window, I suppose.

That's all I got.

Thanks for the notice spinelli.

And thanks for the search Chip.

Last I recall he was very depressed.

ndspinelli said...

You're welcome, Lem. I sent you the widow's email. I'll give her the info Chip worked hard on getting for her to find some of Ari's writing.

Allen and Ari were fellow veterans of Viet Nam. If anyone has contact w/ Allen back channel please let him know, in case he doesn't check in here in the near future. He's a morning guy. I know Allen would appreciate the notification.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

I tried using that search page Chip linked to but I had no luck.

ChipA, could you maybe also search at Althouse?

He wasn't very cheerful by the time I turned the light on here. If you don't mind I'm going to send ChipA Aridog's wife email. That way he can contact her directly?

Aridog had particularly great insight into Arab-Americans, things military, and Federal contracts. May he find peace.

I suggest not looking too hard at all those comments. The ones by Meade in that guest post were particularly offensive.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

Are you talking about AllenS?

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

I'll send AllenS an email.

Oh yes, I recall that.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

Ok. I've conscripted Chip to search for some of Aridog's comments and relay those to Mrs. Aridog. Something cheerfully funereal?

I've also written an email to AllenS. That's so sad.

Thanks, Lem

I responded to Lem's email this morning of the passing of Aridog, with this:

Some months ago, I sent him an email and he never responded. We had talked on the phone quite often, and when he didn’t respond to my email, I was pretty sure that his cancer treatments weren’t going well. It was only a matter of time.

There doesn't seem to be an obituary for him in the greater Detroit MI area.

Lem, I trust you implicitly in giving out Judith's email. Judith and Ari's daughter, Kim, are VERY grateful. I had introduced Ari to a woman in Cali, KarenS. They got to know each other on the Turley blog. Karen and Ari share a military background, Karen being an Army brat. Karen is solid gold. DBQ has gotten to know Karen. Ari treated her like his daughter. Karen has helped Judith find Ari's comments on Turley. I'll share w/ you some of what Judith wrote to me this morning:

"Thank you so much, Nick. I passed your message on to Kim. Karen sent us directions on how to find Dick's posts on the Turley blog. We are both shaking our heads, recognizing him even in his words. He was just as he wrote. Not a bit different. I am so grateful he found a community to share his thoughts and ideas over a myriad of issues. We are like sponges now, anxious to read everything we can find. So, thank you SO much for putting out there we are interested."

You help the family and friends of the departed. You do it simply because it is what the Good Lord wants, and because it is the right thing to do. Having dealt w/ much death, both personally and professionally, I understand it. I understand what the grieving need. I'm comfortable dealing w/ death and the grieving. But, I understand many are not comfortable w/ death. However, I know it is something we all share.

Allen, I'll ask Judith about Dick's obit. Depending on when the service is, I might be able to attend. If you drive down to Madison, I'll drive to Dearborn. Maybe Haz could make it as well. Haz and I talked once about meeting up w/ Dick in Chicago. I'm a bit melancholy we didn't. Don't put shit off, tomorrow is promised to no one.

Nick - Thank you. I have kept Aridog in my thoughts and prayers for awhile now. He was a good man who always went out of his way to be helpful and supportive (in the comments):

Steg, No thanks needed. It's an honor to do this. I sent some info to Lem and asked that he post info on services. I know almost all cannot attend, but I have found people find comfort in just knowing. Ari's wife and daughter are in pain. So, they will be reading all your kind words. It means a lot to them.
