I should give that one another chance. We started watching it when it first came out but stopped. One thing I noticed was that there were virtually no male characters other than occasional drama donors (understandably).

I miss the male/female tête-à-tête and witty repartee of 'Downton Abbey."

Anyways, we started watching "White Chapel" a couple years ago and then dropped the ball after Season 1. We just rediscovered it so it's on the front burner for awhile we watched Season 2 last night. Two more seasons to go.

"White Chapel" has virtually no female characters save an occasional tart.

My wife is a huge fan of 'midwife'. I catch it on occasion, it is well acted and written. Even better there is no heavy political lean, it's balanced, mostly. Which in itself is enough reason to watch it, rare as balance is nowadays.

Also, there is "Outlander", or, as those of the female persuasion (including my wife) term it, "Scotch on the Rocks". As the lead is an 18th century hunk of a Scots guy. It is also very well done, acting, writing, costuming, sets, etc. But, for me, the time travel premise of the female lead is something I can't quite get into.

Which perhaps is odd, or not. I've always enjoyed Sci-Fi, even certain types of fantasy, i.e., LOTR type stuff. But time travel trips me up. Give me future or give me past, but time travel, come on. I guess sort of like why I don't care for those 'imagine if hitler had won' type of stories. Can't set aside so much suspension of disbelief.
