This guy.

This man presumes to instruct the whole nation on the discouraging tone of the campaigns. We're going to be lectured that campaigns are discouraging and risk alienating people from government and dimming their hopes for the future.

The message is delivered pre-rejected, his speech leaves his mouth "return to sender" already stamped on it. The response from commenters is water/bridge, train/station, horse/barn etc.

A lively rebuttal ensues in comments, then anti-Trump rebuttals to the rebuttals.

Their attitude summed in in one comment:

With one vote for Trump I can vote against Ryan, Pelosi, Mitch, Harry, Boehner, Bill & Hillary, Obama, Mittens, Kerry and the Republican Elite.

Who could pass that up?

The rebuttal to that is summed up by a commenter probably tired of making it.

A great list of politicians Trump gave money to so they could defeat their conservative Tea party challengers. Yep, a vote for Trump sure is a vote against those people. cough, cough.

And.

Trump funded all the RINOs & Democrats you have the illusion that voting for him is against them.

Trump supporters don't hear that. It means nothing to them. They argue in return that Trump participated with the system successfully corrupted as it is. That he knows where and how the corruption manifests and is uniquely prepared and uniquely willing to wreck it. That is the point of view that they've taken. This guy who I've drawn and these guys responding in comments still have not internalized exactly how wide the divide. This guy, face wrought with worry prematurely, etched into his forehead permanently knows his speech will not work after all this. He's going through the motions to deliver it dutifully. He knows it can only remind people of his role in their disaffection. He never addressed that to their satisfaction because he cannot. Clean slate doesn't cut it. Clean slate for his politics, filthy slate for the people who sent him there.  He and his decision to not fight against budget items is a very large part of their problem and now he presumes to instruct them on how they should feel and how they should behave and presumably who to vote for so that people can maintain faith in his vision of government that already abused them and have faith in the future these representatives already sold.  A future designed in no small part now by him and his non representative gang that caused the disruption he now attempts to assuage and dissuade.

You are supposed to guess immediately by his eyes that say gravely, "doom." And if not that then his Eddie Munster hairline.

This is pathetic. After pushing through his budget for politically clean slate, so very very much to conservative voters, then this assuaging speech, so very little for those same people, and so very very late in their expression of contempt and disgust. I am deeply impressed in a negative way that our representatives simply cannot represent and don't know the damage they do themselves.  If his constituency were all go-along, get-along, compromise types for the sake of clean political slates then I could see it. But they are not, so I can't. I just do not see this speech working and neither does he, thus the lateness and the increased furrowed brow, constantly worried expression,  and the chiseling of doom into his face.

It looks like Wisconsin is going to be very important in the primary season.

Will Ryan make an endorsement?

Will Governor Walker endorse someone?

What will the ignorant cheesehead yokels do?

Cause you know people from Wisconsin have been all over the world and are so much more sophisticated than those rubes from New York City.

Ryan had 2 shots.

We can argue about the first, he certainly blew the last one.

The last poll was a month ago with The Donald up about 4.5.

I have a feeling that Jeb! endorsing the other Bush candidate is not going to help any more than the Rubio endorsement.

Or are they going to run the ad they ran in UT?

The point of arguing points is to test ideas, learn, and maybe change minds, or change your own, so there is no point on the subject of Trump. It was over as soon as it started with the first insult levied against enemies. Talk remains cheap.

First of all nobody is insulted more than Trump. Your holy roller establishment types just did an ad with a cheesecake photo of Melania and sent it to the Mormons to ask if "This is the kind of person you want as first lady?" Mitt just joked that Trump had to marry foreign babes because they would do the work Americans won't do. The go to insult about Trump is that he is Hitler. Or at best Mussolini. They have been hammering him since he started as a short fingered vulgarian reality star.

If you know anything about the history of Presidential campaigns you know insults go with the territory. Look up they said about Lincoln. Remember what we said about Bill Clinton and they said about George W. Check out what was said about Nixon and McGovern. Seriously dude.
Get a grip.

The problem for so many Republicans is that Trump is fighting back by being just as dirt as the dirtiest Democrat. He is attacking in terms that the average low information voter can adsorb. He is not being a gentlemen.

He is hitting back in a outer borough New York Style. I await the comments that all New Yorkers are assholes and bull shit artists and the usual nonsense.

It seems that Trump is effective in being a vulgar asshole. Maybe a vulgar asshole will scare
the towelheads who set off bombs in airports. Because he threatened to go after their families in the shitholes they live in. I do know that a prissy Ivy League cunt doesn't seem to make them think twice. Especially since he tells us that it not the "Religion of Peace" that is at the bottom of this. And how we have to let in thousands of "migrants and refugees" created by his failed policy of destabilizing every fuckin' government in the Middle East.

It is time for something completely different.

This election is at bottom about class. It is upending the former distinction between liberals and conservatives. Nobody is all of a piece. What you are seeing in this election is that the "lower classes" are coalescing around both Trump and Sanders. The upper class of both the liberal and conservative stripes are running to Hillary so it will be business as usual. The same lobbyists and crony-capitalists and union bigshots will feed at the slop bag. But if either Trump or Sanders gets in the applecart will be well and truly upset.

They can't have that. It drives them mad. George Soros and David Koch and Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell are all on the same page.

It is about class. Not ideology.

bagoh20 said...

My clearly made point was not that he sucks because of his insults, but that it's specifically why you love the guy, which is lame...and of course, his "really good brain".

And give me a break about the Melania photo. If that's wrong, then why did she do it just for the money, and why do you post them just for fun?

Look I post them because I think she is hot stuff and I would love to see her as first lady.
But I don't post them or email them to church ladies to trash her. I mean I could post photos of Heidi Cruz in Arkham Asylum with the Penguin. But that would be wrong.

I am calling out the hypocrisy of the media who claim that we shouldn't slut shame women but jump to that to attack Trump.

Personally I think they should post more cheesecake photo's of Melania. But give it a rest that the reason I love the guy is because he insults other people. I don't agree with a lot of what he says. But you know what? I totally agree with what he says about immigration and what to do in the Middle East. With torture and targeting the ISIS vermin regardless of collateral damage. With giving the guys on the ground the power to set the policy. The working guys. The grunts. Trump just announced that the Border Patrol guys themselves will be making the enforcement policy. Not policy wonks that just graduated from Vassar. Something that none of the other candidates would ever do.

You have to admit it. Trump is very, very different. If want more of the same vote for Hillary. Cruz will never win jack shit. In American elections you have a choice. How many people ran in the Republican primary? About a thousand right. Well Trump beat them. He beat Perry and Jindal and Carly and Walker and Jeb and Little Marco. They all had a chance to win and they failed miserably. Why is that? Is it because they offer more of the same.

Remember Senator D'Amato? He was thoroughly, I mean to the core, lower-middle class ethnic. In his case obviously Italian but it would have been the same had he been lower-middle class ethnic Irish. What would have been the same? The visceral opposition to him and HATRED of him on the part of many of my relatives, who were MENTALLY no longer lower-middle class, having pulled themselves into the upper-middle class, but were still very insecure about their hold on that rung of the social ladder. I still remember as if it were yesterday the way one of my cousins, Laura, who was about nine years older than me and had married well and now was a matron in Westchester, WESTCHESTER COUNTY!...the way she literally fumed that D'Amato had been elected Senator. She had no reason to oppose him. She didn't have to have a reason. IT JUST SHOULDN'T BE! IT COULDN'T BE! And yet it was. And that was impossible. IMPOSSIBLE. Oh yes, I know about class animus.

P.S. D'Amato was in fact quite comfortable financially. I'm talking about the aura he gave out. He spoke relatively bluntly and directly, for those times. More important it was clear he had struggled his way up. Night school, the whole bit. You would think this would score him points with the newly minted professionals or chattering class types. Just the opposite. Their snobbery ran deep. Runs deep to this day. And underneath it, terror that they might fall.

But it's not the insults. It's the refusal to be another fall guy. As always, bag misses the point. It has nothing to do with what he says, but the fact he's saying it at all.

Unlike the One True Ted who bills himself as Mr Christian while his campaign staff plays dirty for him.

And give me a break about the Melania photo. If that's wrong, then why did she do it just for the money, and why do you post them just for fun?

If Cruz was what he said he is, he wouldn't have allowed it to happen or, in this case (it was a pro-Cruz PAC), he would have renounced it.

Now the One True Ted has to drag little Heidi out so he can hide behind her.

It's called marketing, dude. Maybe your boy wouldn't be losing if he quit trying to be the National Scold and did something similar.

Besides, it's not the price of the jet, it's manner of the man. Cruz has spent most of his life with the Bushes and the Ivy League SCOTUS types and that's what kills him - kind of like Lurch the time he went to Pat's Steaks in South Philly for a campaign appearance and came off like Little Lord Fauntleroy. Trump sounds like a guy who knows how to deal with union guys.

PS Don't know if Troop saw this, but his gut about a VP choice may be right.

Who were the poor guys? Nixon, Truman, Grover Cleveland, Chester Arthur and Bill Clinton before he took a bunch of bribes.

The anomoly was Andrew Jackson. He was a rich guy but he was obviously simpatico with the Scott Irish low class types that love the Trumpster.

Because you know who gets to decide who represents the hoi polloi? Not the elites. Not the pundits. Not the pollsters. Not the consultants. The people decide.

That is what is causing all the problems here.

But let's not forget some of those First Ladies were also lookers - Dolly Madison or Frances Cleveland, who married Grover, who set tongues wagging.

And it was Andrew Jackson who fought a couple of duels over the honor of the lusciously brunette Rachel Donelson.

Cruz started it, he knows how to stop it. He likes to hide behind his campaign people when they pull their dirty tricks. Carson raised Hell and it stopped for a while, Rubio endorsed him after it knocked him out of the race. Trump says you want it, you'll get it.

Carson and Trump are right.

It's everything else about him that is disqualifying.

Hmmm, successful business career, Wharton degree (back when it meant something), willingness to fight, willingness to take stands unpopular with the ruling class.

Nothing there disqualifying. He's even over 35 and an American citizen.

If Melania's photo shoots as a model are fair game then so should Heidi Cruz's suicial melt down and dicey mental health.

Trump's wife was doing a job as a professional and high class model, not being a porno star. She was doing these things before marrying Trump. Heidi had her melt down while married to Cruz and likely became so depressed by being force/told/coerced into putting her ambitious career on hold to become Cruz's prop in his career path that she contemplated suicide.

Trump can also bring up the unsavory Cruz senior's abandonment of his wife and 3 year old child in Canada and the subsequent alcohol fueled reunion of Cruz's hypocritical daddy and his mom...who STILL lives with Cruz to "take care of the children"

Dish the dirt and see what comes back.

Actually, I hope that Trump does NONE of those things because it would be stooping to the lower moral level of scumballs like Cruz. Stay classy and say that he COULD, if he wanted to, bring all sorts of shame and humiliation on Cruz and his family, like Cruz has done to his..... but because he is a better man will refrain.

Take the high road Trump!

Nice try, Rhythm Method, but as you live longer and have more, let's say intimate experiences, you will find that many women enjoy a variety of sexual positions. It's not about hierarchy, period, for me. Better, worse, whatever. It's about living life to the max. It's about not being afraid of intensity.
