Characterizing Ms. Roderick's reaction

Contestant Brande Roderick's response is a bit hard to characterize, since she quickly turns away and toward the person trying to discuss the "serious" business of the contest. Still, Trump said it. He said it within the confines of the "The Apprentice," but on-tape doing one of his very real and former paying jobs.

Why did Brande smile before turning the other cheek?

I assume for the same reason that Piers Morgan chuckled: she knew she was sinking Trump's chances!

Here's the thing. Trump dated Brande when he was divorcing Marla. She did blow him. She looked away because she was going to laugh.

Why is this a big deal? I don't get it. Is this so offensive to women that it is going to cost him your vote. That he was joking around on a TV show about getting a blowjob from a woman who had given him a blowjob? Seriously?

This fake feminist outrage is very tiring.

Coupled with yesterday's post on the Trump/Megyn Kelly thing, a theory about the psychological basis of Trump's appeal has suddenly jumped to mind.

Proposition 1: Megyn Kelly is, figuratively speaking, the HR department (with its weaponized rules of civility). Trump is every schmoe who has come under HR's thumb (or feared the wrath of HR). If this is correct, then every attempt to disqualify Trump on the basis of his incivility actually hardens his support among the above referenced schmoes. He is defying HR on their behalf. The worse, the better.

Proposition 2: It doesn't matter whether or not he will win the general; the schmoes would just like to know how many of them there really are. This isn't an existing political bloc attempting to gain power. It is an inchoate political bloc attempting to discover itself.

Just my guess.

My take is she gives him a narrow, tight smile that says, are you really going to go there? She turned quickly to the guy next to her, as if to 'drop the subject.' But she did let it go, as he was the one in charge and she wanted to win. But the clip is very open to interpretation.

On the other hand:

"But speaking to INSIDE EDITION, Roderick, who is starring in upcoming series Four Kings, said she was not bothered by the comment.

"I kind of let it go in one ear and out the other because I've never had a negative experience with Donald," she said."

I was not aware they'd dated.

For the record, it's not fake feminist outrage on my part.

Simon Geist, yes, that is completely possible. I know a guy who said men have to be extremely careful in the corporate world, but women can leave too many buttons undone at the top of their blouses, and it's considered harassment if complaints are made.

Thanks Ed, my very bad. Usually when you copy an addy into the composing page it automatically converts to a link. Apparently there are exceptions :)

It just doesn't make sense for Kelly to be so bothered by something that doesn't bother the very woman who received the "abuse" and yet to ignore the individual women who were very bothered by what Bill Clinton allegedly did to them. And Hillary is perceived to have helped Bill craft his stories.

Kelly asked the question in the context of his suitability for the office of president. (And Trooper, Clinton was impeached over the knees thing.)

It is the politically correct double standard good time banana rock and roll bullshit that Trump refuses to kowtow to.

Or in Kelly's case....cow-tow.

Megyn Kelly is the Gwyneth Paltrow of news anchors.

Brande didn't have a problem with the Donald because she had auditioned to be the next Mrs. Donald Trump.

Which required that she could speak into the microphone so to speak.
