"I'm a black American woman - can I support the Republican Party?"

"What to do? I'm a conservative, yet 21st-century Republicans are still defending slavery"
As a black Republican woman, from the South, I find it morally repugnant that 150 years after the Civil War ended, 21st-century Republicans are still defending slavery. Because that’s exactly what supporting South Carolina’s or any state’s right to fly the battle flag means. The Civil War began because Southern states seceded from the Union, refusing to abandon their slave economy of whites using and abusing their free black human labor, owned as property.

Slavery in America, which lasted far longer than in Britain, was an abomination. So why did the Republican Party, which is in desperate need of minority voters, not come out in fierce opposition to the flag two weeks ago, when the topic erupted?

Many Blacks fly the Confederate flag in South Carolina. This author claims to be a conservative but in reality she is not. That flag in 21st century America does not represent racism for most of those who fly it. It represents pride in an era of American history which no longer exists. Nothing more. Should we dump the Union Jack because it flew over an Empire which abused half of the word's population in the name of Rule Britannia? Of course not. This whole "dust up" in the States is the way Radical Liberals punish Southern Conservatives for having the audacity to be the location of a "lone wolf" racist murderer of church goers. It is all about the Radical Left sticking it to the Conservatives. Nothing more. Britons should not allow ourselves to be pulled into this foreign bit of nonsense.

"Many Blacks fly the Confederate flag in South Carolina." Citation needed. Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof. I'm from South Carolina. 30% of the population is black and I have never once seen a black person fly the battle flag. And finding one somewhere suffering from Stockholm Syndrome does not *many* make.

If it was good enough for Sojourner Truth and Frederick Douglass, it's good enough for you.

I don't think support of the Confederate flag is one of the distinguishing characteristics of the a Republican Party. I think the author thinks that the Confederate flag is the unofficial flag of the white race......,.My forefathers were apparently draft dodgers, but I had several fore uncles who fought for the Union side, and one who was wounded. I have as much standing as she does to criticize the Confederate flag. I'm glad it's coming down, but I don't think it currently symbolizes what she claims.......I wonder how active she is in the movement to free the hundreds of thousands of black slaves in Mauretania. I wonder if she ever spoke out against Charles Taylor or the other despots n Africa with the same force or vehemence reserved for apartheid. I think she's a phony.

It's not often that I drop a piece at the first sentence, after all you did show it, but I'm getting better and better at spotting racists 100% wrong in their leading presumptions that I find it more interesting cleaning the vertical blinds.

The way the light streams through the cleaned half is astonishing.

But now I must get behind the television and I cannot move it myself.

What an uckingfay ummerbay.

So I think what I'll do is switch them, switch the blades places and maybe that will work better.

That's the thing about leaving the doors wide open all the time. I honestly don't know where all this dust comes from. It must be Utah dust. Or maybe Nebraska dust blown in.

Amazing that it took everyone so long to realize the Confederate flag was the flag of slavery and oppression. Lets see, it around in 1965, but I don't remember anyone giving a damn until about the late 1990s. Then you had the SC flag controversy about 10-12 years ago and then the issued died.

Its sorta like the "Redskins" - liberals seem to have woken up a couple years ago and discovered they've been using an ethnic slur for 30 years.

It is not. The notion that Republicans defended the Confederate Flag is the attempt to white wash the Democrats that put up the flag in front of the S.C. capital.

Nikki Haley didn't want to have to put up with 2 weeks of media stories about why is Nikki Haley a racist.

The Rs took it down, but the Demos, not getting their riot or their consolation prize, are getting silly now.

In politics the rhino will fold at the first sign of a problem.

No, there is such a thing as smart politics and knowing a situation where you may be able to win a point, but it may cost more than it's worth.

That flag was not the hill to die on if it gave the Demos a month of free cheap shots at every Republican. Granted, she should have said more about who put it up there and why.

We're talking about illegals today, not the Confederate flag. That's not the way the Left would have liked it. That's the difference.

Every victory you give the SJW the bolder they get. It is not a hill to die on but you don't go out of your way to help them when they go into an orgy of hating your tribe.

Let them do it if they want. Don't be an also ran lick spittle ass kissing go along to make nice. Fuck em.

I don't care about the Confederate Flag per se but the same shit heads who think it caused the murders in South Carolina will be the ones leading the charge to take down the American Flag. The ones that will suspend students for waving an American Flag but give extra credit to illegal immigrants waving the Mexican flag.

You see it at the ball games all the time when they refuse to stand for the National Anthem.
You know what I mean. I bet you have seen it when you have been at the game.

On this, sir, we agree.

Your point is good. I've just seen too many of these dog-and-pony shows to know that sometimes cutting the ground out from under them is the better way to go.

Immigration is where we can push them back and the Steinle murder is just the first club that can be used. There are some horrific crimes of the same type and we can tie those to ValJar's plan to destroy the burbs the way LBJ destroyed the cities.

This is the kind of "how the Republican party lost me" voter Ted Kopell dug up every 4 years. Regardless, if she's a conservative voter, she might as well keep looking she ain't
gonna find any in todays GOPe.
