We, a sister, a brother and some nephews are going to be on the road back to Florida this afternoon. I might be back blogging sometime around midnight.

I'm willing to bet that is a picture of a mom and her cub. Still, Happy Father's Day to all the PIV oppressors out there. I'm certainly happy to be a member of the club.

From my understanding of National Geographic, it is the mother who raises the cubs. The mother's chief worry is that some new male will blunder along, mate with her, and then kill her cubs so she'll be able to devote her attention to his offspring and his offspring will have that much less competition.......Among the human family, that's something that the children of single mothers sometimes worry about. It's a very dark and subtarranean fear that is never acknowledged, but it exists. It's good to have a father.

According to the linked article, those are all mama bears.

Exactly, Mums, daddy bears will kill the young just so they can mate with mom bear sooner.

Story fail.
