This morning the astronomy guy was talking about distances and how people ask him whether it bugs him that he might be observing a star, for example, that no longer exists, given that the light that would evidence that fact has yet to reach Earth.
He said it doesn;t bother him at all, same as it doesn't bother him that seeing someone from across the room is seeing light from the past.
