"Friends say Romney feels nudge to consider a 2016 presidential run"

"As Romney told it, Obama shows up at a bank to cash a check without his ID. The teller asks him to prove who he is, saying that Mickelson proved his identity by hitting a golf ball into a cup and Agassi proved his by hitting a tennis ball at a target. “Is there anything you can do to prove who you are?” the teller asks."
“I don’t have a clue,” Obama replies in the joke.

The crowd ate it up.

“When you get elected to the Senate, your job should be to convince Mitt Romney to run for president again,” a donor told Ernst, according to several attendees. The Republican candidate said she would, while Romney laughed.

That's one hell of a fine joke, IMHO.

Right up there with silver foot in his mouth and thought he hit a triple.

The clever political insult, an artform unto itself.

Romney is an insult - it is time for him to go away, now.

We don't need a nice guy running or winning. We need a fighter.

Exactly Sixty. Mr. Nice guy isn't working out.

"ANN ROMNEY: MITT AND I ARE 'DONE' WITH THE PRESIDENCY"

I don't think he will or should run again. It'll take a street fighter to take down the Clinton machine aided by the media.

Romney only knows how to throw vitriol at conservatives. Toward liberals, since he is one himself, it's paddy cake all the way.

I was hoping for more than someone who promises to better manage our decline into a socialist dystopia.

Hillary with an MBA.

I guess this is a Ted Cruz blog?

Not liking one twit does not mean we like another.

But all of a sudden I want some food - preferably well done.

I understand that's how things run in the US now, but at least allow me to be disappointed that the best we have to offer in opposition to Hillary would have run as a Democrat in the 1970s.

Telling a good Obama joke is fine. But when the DNC brings out the claws again, will he shrivel up like last time? He wouldn't fight against a black man, and I'll bet he won't fight a woman.

Simplifying considerably, I really don't think you win a national election by being the better toughguy. Please your base? Sure.

A great many people in the undecided middle found Obama the more comforting candidate, rightly or wrongly. They don't care about about abstractions like "liberty." They care about themselves; their friends, family and loved ones. They want to be safe.

Someone who commented here said a while back that Romney reminds people of the guy who shows up one day from corporate and lays everybody off.

That's got enough truthiness in it for my limited purposes.

We need a new face. Not a retread has been. And a true conservative not a Rhino who is a Democrat with a different color coat.

There are plenty of excellent people who need to go through the crucible of the primaries. Cruz for one. Bobby Jindal. Scott Walker. Susan Martinez. Rand Paul. Niki Haley.

There is no room for yesterdays news like Romney or Gingrich or Santorum or
Palin or McCain or any of the other losers who already had their chance and need to get out of the way.

Trooper York said...

You can also forget about the Rhino ass wipes like Christie, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and any one else that Karl Rove and the rest of the establishment give a tongue bath to when discussing Presidential candidates.

If Hillary is the Democratic candidate she has a bunch of negatives...especially that she is old and used up and not up to the job. People don't want a return to the Bush/Clinton dynamic. This is not the fucking War of the Roses for fucks sake.

There will be New Blood.

Well of course he'll run. Someone needs to hold Hillary's purse while she's kicking him in the nutz.

Rabel said...

Let's keep shooting everybody down until the perfect candidate comes along. That ought to work.

And, shouldn't there have been a final line to the joke? Something like "Glad to meet you, Mr. President" following "I haven't got a clue"?

The next president has to identify a newer, better for the country and lead us down that path.

We need a great communicator again who will be earn our confidence and trust so we can stop wrestling with these national issues every frigging day- get the fed govt out of all but the most essential core duties and leave us the heck alone.

Susana Martinez sounds about right to me. Especially if Hillary is the Dem nominee -- the women's vote would be up for grabs. Plus she'd get the Hispanic vote.

But is she conservative enough to satisfy the purists?

I know Rubio lost faith when he came out for immigration reform, but I still like him a lot. He's a wonderful speaker and I don't think we should throw him overboard.

Rubio's take down of communist Tom Harkin(D) of Iowa (for Harkin's support of cuba's government controlled crap health care system) was EPIC and DELICOUS.

I really like Ben Carson.

pathetic, quit wishing, you are going to lose....again.

Reality will set in one day.

Hillary will never be president.

Lydia said...

Lookie here -- Mother Jones has already done a hit piece on Susana Martinez: Is New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez the Next Sarah Palin?

R and D are fastly becoming exctinct tards. The new hot is I.

deal with it

Trooper York said...

There is a very good chance for a conservative like Scott Walker or Rand Paul to win. If they can energize the base. The Democratic base will be demoralized. Especially if Old Yeller Hillary is the Nominee.

Of course that is if we have an election. If Obama steps down when his term is up. We will have to wait and see.

Unknown said...

Sixty - you should read one of his books. He's got it figured out.

I'd like to think we have representational government. There are many qualifications that can make someone a great leader - not just the ones the media push.

Unknown said...

Lydia - the media, ultra radical left and pro-democrat msm and otherwise, will destroy everyone in that manner. They all work for the Clintons now and this is how totalitarian left roll.

The Dude said...

Did he write his book? Or is it ghost written?

Is he an affirmative action hire?

I would never vote for him, just on the basis of his opposition to the second amendment. There is nothing else I need to know about him - he thinks he is smarter than the founders. He is not.

Which other amendments does he want to repeal?

If that is having it "figured out" then we are in deep shit. He may be an adequate doctor, but he needs to leave the ghetto and see the rest of the country. And don't kid yourself - Johns Hopkins is pure ghetto.

He's clean and articulate, though, right?

Fuck him and his cult-like followers. He is just another authoritarian hack who wants to put us back in chains.

Unknown said...

I'm not interested in skin color. I am interested in ideas.

The left have nothing to offer but failed European socialism sprinkled and spiked with totalitarian neo-fascism and Pravda.

The Dude said...

Skin color is interested in you, however.

If you think any minority in a position of power will ever work for your best interests you are deluded.

Ben Carson is a dangerous anti-constitutional hack. I have seen plenty of women get all dreamy about him - it sure isn't based on his qualifications, just sayin'.

Unknown said...

Historically, retreads don't work. That is bad news for both Hillary and Romney... and McCain.

I'll go along with Rabel here. If no one is perfect enough, we might as well throw in the towel now.

ReaganJesus is not coming.

The Dude said...

Who the hell wants perfect - I would settle for an American who respects the constitution.

No republican meets that low standard.
