"Ebola test on Texas health-care worker comes back positive"

"A Texas health-care worker who was in full protective gear when they provided hospital care for an Ebola patient who later died has tested positive for the virus and is in stable condition, health officials said Sunday. If the preliminary diagnosis is confirmed, it would be the first known case of the disease being contracted or transmitted in the U.S."

Dr. Daniel Varga, of the Texas Health Resources, said during a news conference Sunday that the worker wore a gown, gloves, mask and shield when they provided care to Thomas Eric Duncan during his second visit to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Varga did not identify the worker and says the family of the worker has "requested total privacy."
"We're deeply concerned about this new development," Dr. Thomas Frieden said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday. "I think the fact that we don't know of a breach in protocol is concerning because clearly there was a breach in protocol."

Thank God they're doing rigorous questionnaires at the airports.

Obama talked to Burwell, Sibelius replacement, for 40 seconds.

We are in good hands.

A single patient identified and eventually quarantined caused dozens to be monitored and many more to be at risk. Imagine what just a few dozen sneaking across the border unidentified, and unquarantined could do. Then the cascade of people they infect, and the panic that would ensue. We will find out just how far we have NOT evolved from our successful self-preservation-first ancestors. It will be ugly.

They are blaming the victim by saying she didn't follow protocol. Humans do make mistakes, so why weren't all the hospital care givers monitored as they geared up and then took all that garb off? I once contaminated myself with radiation, my fault. I'd been in a high temperature, high radiation area and felt as though I had an inch of sweat in my full mask respirator. When I exited I ripped the respirator straight up and deposited particulates on my face. One of the health physics guys noticed and made me scan extra carefully for radiation. Fortunately for me it showered right off. My point is that when something is deadly, your protocol must have monitors watching the process because humans make mistakes.

I also heard that part of Duncan's treatment was dialysis. How hard is it to clean up dialysis equipment? Assuming they have truly excellent cleanup procedures, how likely are you, fellow Lem's Levity reader, to be willing to use the equipment next? I question how logical I'd be in that circumstance.

I have complete confidence the WH has this under control.

The transmission of Ebola is part of Obama's master plan. The panic you speak of is on the way. Martial Law. Suspension of the Twenty Second Amendment. It is all teed up so to speak.

Think that's crazy? Think that could never happen? Think that is tin foil hat time?

I never thought that the President could get away with using the IRS against his political enemies. I never thought that the government would try to force nuns to pay for abortions. I never thought that every email and phone call and computer browsing history would be available to the government in a warrant-less search with monopolies turning over the information without a murmur. I never thought I would see a President decide to do everything with executive orders because he couldn't get anything through the Congress.

But we have seen all of that.

What comes next will not be pretty.

Obama's handling of the Ebola virus is actually the same as how he handled the economy.

Throw money at it, hide the unfavorable facts, blame everyone else, and assure us all is well through an obsequious press.

Froward! Hoap and chains!

Why do you think that the Obama Administration is stoking the racial fires and riots in places like Ferguson Missouri? When he could have been a positive force but instead stoked division and hate and destruction?

It is another part of his plan.

And after returning last night from a 3 day fundraising trip our President is back on the golf course today.

I'm beginning to think that this guy just doesn't give a damn.

bagoh20 said...

Well, look at the bright side. The guy in charge of Obama's plan is Barack Obama. That's a pretty good ace in the hole for those who want his plan to fail.

Personally, I don't think he has a plan, or ever had one on much of anything. He just imagines what he needs to say to get the approval of the people he knows all too well - left leaners, and then he says it and waits for them to carry him on their shoulders. This has worked for him ever since he was a small boy. What a strange person to put your faith in as a leader. I never got it.

A slow motion train wreck - it will be interesting to see how many more people are infected and how many the government is willing to admit are infected.

I made an Ebola joke at market yesterday and guess what - the commie woman I told it to was not amused "THERE IS NO EBOLA!"

Well alrighty then. My bad. I just made that up, you know, because...

Ebola is the symptom.

Obama is the disease.

Marching orders have gone out. They start at the comedy level, and travel out through the rest of the press.

Nothing to worry about.

Fore!

That is tin foil talk, Trooper.

Trooper York said...

Sure thing Nick.

I know that Obama has the up
most concern for our Constitution and the rule of law.

He would never do any of things I listed that he has already done.

I know we can count on an Independent press and the Patriotism of the Democratic Party to stop him when he over steps. Just like the Republican repudiated Nixon when he tried to use the IRS and tried to wiretap American Citizens in violation of the the law. Look at how they have reacted so far.

Nosiree! Nothing to see here. Nada. Nunca.

Hey the game is on! Let's get some chips and salsa. Parrrteeeeee!!!!!

Trooper, We've had this discussion before. He doesn't want to be President anymore. He checked out. People don't worship him anymore like they did in 2008. And, any Marshall Law coup would require an obedient military. You're goin' Oliver Stone on us. Put down the pipe.

You think he wants to give up all the perks of office. The vacations. The ass kissing and blow jobs from his worshipers?

When Michael Bloomberg decided to run again even though there were term limits he just pushed through a reversal of the law voted on by the people. He didn't need to be mayor. He was pretty bored of it in fact. But he convinced himself he was indispensable. Because of his ego. His narcissism. His hubris.

Sound like anyone else you know?

Sales of gas masks, bio-hazard suits soar...

A claim says the CDC holds patens on Ebola. Isn't the CDC an arm of the government? Isn't the government not for profit?

Trooper York said...

The military has been compromised. The warriors have been weeded out and been replaced by political generals who will bend to whatever Obama wants to do. How is it that none of them have protested any of his actions. The actions that have lead to the rise of Isis in the Middle East. That led to the military abandoning our ambassador to die so the President could go to sleep before flying off to a fundraiser. Have you noticed how many generals and admirals have been cashiered because of some scandal or other? Or had their reputations smeared like Pretraeus? You think that is an accident? You think that they don't have files on all of them? That they can't be blackmailed or cashiered if they don't go along?

Trooper York said...

Why has not one of them resigned in protest? Not one.

Could it be that they are agree with his positions? That those that did not were eliminated in one way or another?

Trooper York said...

There is a long and storied tradition of the military deferring to the political branch of the government. It would take a whole lot for them to react to any political move that had even a fig leaf of legitimacy.

Trooper York said...

Remember an Ebola epidemic would be an unprecedented event that would require drastic measures. Quarantines. Enforced by the government.

You know our government. They are here to help us.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I'm very afraid that we don't have the will, the guts, to do what is needed in an epidemic situation. Too much political correctness. We have been a country that has had it very good for a very long time and are unprepared to face some ugly realities. Our government is in no way able or even WILLING to help us. We are totally on our own.

We just filled up all the propane tanks and took stock of the pumphouse pantry situation. We are good for at least 6 months. (Except for TP....might need to buy some more of that) I am just finishing dehydrating apples instead of making jam or pie fillings this year. We had about 50 pounds from all the trees. The walnut tree gave us three 5 gallon buckets full of walnuts that need to be shelled. These are ordinary actions and ordinary supplies for us because of our location, distance from shopping and severe winters.

I fear for those who live in the cities and who have hardly any supplies in their apartments or homes to hunker down with and ride out the storm

The only thing we are changing right now is to put off a trip to the Bay Area to visit with family until after the first of the year. Time will tell.

Trooper York said...

Oh and it wouldn't be a Marshal law violation. The Marshal Law stated that Laverne got first dibs on banging any guy they met except for the big Ragu.

Bush is retired. He stepped down when his time came.

Will Obama do the same?

I firmly believe this.

I put nothing past this lawless man.

He has proven again and again he has no respect for the law or the conventions of our political life.

He only respects one thing.
