Seriously, Haz, You're Going To Iowa?

I yam.  And I'm rolling to Iowa right now while you are sipping your morning coffee and eating your bacon and eggs and bacon and reading Lem's blog.  Mrs. Haz and I are in the Hazmobile, full fuel load, radar detector set to sensitive, radio set to country, cruise control set to too-fast, and sunroof set to fully open.

We're on a mission.  It involves methanol, eleven hundred horsepower engines, men with large arm muscles, a young relative, an older relative, a dead cop, plenty of dirt, and something called The Granddaddy Of Them All.

We'll be in Iowa for four days.  There will be updates.  Carry on.

The Knoxville Nationals, awesome. Knoxville and Eldora are both on my bucket list. Have a good time.

Methanol + Haz's motorhead history plus the fact that he's in a car leads me to conclude he's on a mission to secure adequate supplies of the high performance fuel.

What's next, nitromethane runs?

Have a safe trip Hazman.

As for me, I'm still here in NJ, I'm sad to report.

I've ben to FLA this time of year, Lem -- it's brutal.

The Knoxville Nationals, awesome.

High performance racing fuels are chemically designed to prevent knox.

Though nitromethane produces its own kind of NOx.

No nitro, just methanol. One gallon of methanol per half mile lap.....

We have a running joke in our family that is really a good rule, "NEVER eat Chinese food in Iowa." Our kids went to church camp in Iowa, just 10 miles or so from the Field of Dreams. We need to get Trooper there for the opening of the refurbished John Wayne Museum next May. I've been to Iowa working and visiting. It is not a very nice state. But, they have GREAT pork.

Haz, Are you racing? Where?

For me, Iowa is a state you drive through going to a place you want to be. Lots od states like that, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma.

What's going on in Kansas?

You know the GOP is a loser when the pro-democrat media goes full orgasm over a GOP establishment win.

Nick - I'm not racing. Those days are over. A young relative will be running a car during the Knoxville Nationals tonight/tomorrow. Knoxville, Iowa.

Iowans are nice until you disagree with them. Then LOOK-OUT!

Growing up, there was a guy down the street who had a brand new '69 Z-28. He shipped it off to a Milwaukee machinist and had some custom work done. Street legal? Who knows. When he got it back, he too measured his gas mileage in GPM rather than MPG.

Geeze, and to think I could have had you on *my* road trip from near the Canadian border down to Sedona and back to NC.

Had a leaking radiator hose and a couple days later blew the heater core. In the 102 degree CA desert. Sort of (Bakersfield).

Oh yeah. That's why I didn't have you on my road trip ... I was busy.
