"Jury Acquits Texas Father Of Killing Drunken Driver Who Crashed Into His Kids"

"A jury on Wednesday acquitted a southeast Texas man of murder in the fatal shooting of a drunken driver who had just caused an accident that killed the man's two sons."

"Prosecutors alleged that Barajas killed 20-year-old Jose Banda in a fit of rage after Banda plowed into Barajas and his sons in December of 2012 while they were pushing a truck on a road near their home because it had run out of gas. Twelve-year-old David Jr. and 11-year-old Caleb were killed."

I love my fellow Texans. Not all of them, but most of them.

An incredibly weak case.

This is weird. The story made it sound like he had to be the guy who did it, but then not.

Know what else is weird? Our sunsets, that's what. Heavy cloud buildup then the sun slips under the clouds but above the mountains, to create a layer of light.

I just now saw one of those moths that look like a hummingbird and behave as hummingbirds do go flower to flower.

Just got back from Tony's. Before, I was talking to a guy there about airborne sourdough cultures and he was all, "what? what? what?" And I'm all "yeah, yeah, yeah," and he goes, "bring some in," Like prove it. So I did. Went around got my peaches and tomatoes and such. At checkout he said that he, they, had already sampled it, but he wrapped it up because he didn't want to share any more. They were all mightily impressed. Then he gave me his employee discount bringing my total from 44.00 to 37.00, a savings of 7.00 -- a 7.00 Denver sourdough loaf. Not bad, eh?

I hope in the end the pain of losing a child is offset in some ways by the deep knowledge that many don't even bother to take the risk in the first place out of fear, and to a great extent the more prevalent this attitude in a culture the quicker the culture is gone.

There is some dude, racist, who goes by jimbino who exemplifies the guaranteed void no children will always provide, without any chance of peaceful prosperity like kids can offer those who "dare to discover the new melody" as Iris Dement might sing.

Nice Pogues tune Lem. I forget about that one. They really had that Tin Whistle Spaghetti Western sound down.

For the longest time (years) I couldn't afford a car and there were no buses so I walked miles to and from work or the train station, day and night.

I did so along major roads (no sidewalks, no shoulder to speak of) without fear that I'd get clipped by a drunk driver, not because I'm particularly courageous or anything, but because . . . well, I'm not really sure why. Maybe because I was young and clueless.

I'd get a beer bottle thrown at me every now and then.

I didn't like that.
