Too good to be true -- Luenell

There is some discussion on the right-o-sphere about the left-o-sphere's panel discussion within the Netroots Nation convention recently held in Detroit. The question raised on the left and discussed on the panel is why isn't the left as funny as the right? Apparently they perceive the right as more funny than the left, a questionable conclusion I think most comedians are leftists overall, they conclude because comedy on the right depends so heavily on racism, sexism all isms, taboo subject to the left.

The right seems to agree the left is not funny, but disagrees about why. The right states their own reasons why the left isn't funny and goes to some length explaining why their sanctimonious attitude prevents humor aimed at their protected targets.

The problem with that is comedians are mostly leftist, most probably vote left, they appeal to leftists, and few subjects are actually taboo. They do much more than make fun of the right. In fact those are their least funny bits. Analyze it however you like, use whatever conceit you wish, the left is funny and they do transgress their own taboos, and that is why they are funny, I'd say more funny than conservative comedians.

However, having said that, British jokes are just flat not funny, and that has nothing to do with Americans not getting it as they keep repeating, no, it's because their jokes are flatly not funny, because they are all based on their spoon-fed BBC liberalism, delivered as cutting commentary, and they all fall flat. See the best of sickipedia, pick any category, all the jokes suck. Look at the American category (sub under racism) or religion category, they think these jokes are funny. They are not. I guarantee you they're not. Not a one. Yet they will go down insisting the problem is we just don't get them.

We get them alright. The problem is these jokes would be funny, perhaps, at age seven or eight.

Except for satire. British do satire better than Americans do, generally, I think, especially conservative satire. What I see of conservative satire is just not funny because it transmits its intention overtly. It fails to inhabit the target sincerely and follow through to conclusion without the possibility of anything being learned, absent the chance for change. Conservative satire look to me like, we sure are doing satire right now, hint, hint, nudge, nudge, get it? This is the ridiculous thing we're depicting, nudge, nudge. And that is not funny. Real satire depicts the ridiculous sincerely and lives with the problems it causes, the bathos, the descent from the sublime to the ridiculous with complete sincerity so that the characters can be picked up again and applied recognizably and lovingly to a new skit under new circumstances with no change whatsoever, the suffering shown and shared.  British do this better than Americans, liberals better than conservatives. That is my view.

Do you imagine Luenell is politically conservative? The video is only a minute.

What's so funny about peace, love, and understanding which the Left purports to be about?

I'm having problems with the left key (the most important key) of my windows computer mouse.

Its almost impossible to post with this annoying problem. It's possible using arrow keys, the escape key and and the middle roller and the still functioning right key. but i haven't got the patience.

In short i dont know when i'll be posting again.

Thanks for your patience.

Good delivery of a lame joke. She sold it, but it's just another safe politically correct, practically incorrect sentiment pretending to be outrageous and funny.

The joke was in the litany, not the punch line. By the time she got to the lame punchline, the humor already happened and she needed an ending. A period so to speak, because there is no flesh and blood woman like that, yet such an ideal often resides in the heads of both sexes, locked in the magic suitcase of illusion and imagination.

Who are the Right-wing funny men you talk about?

I mean there's Coulter and Trooper York, and who?

Pretty much all comedians voted for Obama.

And I love British Humor, or at least some of it. Waugh, Wodehouse, Black Adder, Hitchhikers Guide, Monty Python, Are you Being Served?Peter Cook, The office, lots of funny stuff.

The funniest comedy is usually subversive. I hate top down "Aren't those guys at MacDonalds so stupid" haha humor.

One reason why liberal humor isn't funny anymore. Its Letterman in a $1,000 suit making fun of some teaparty person in Nebraska.
