WLEM AM

Where no strings are attached.

When the airless wind shall sing,
When the broken circle mends,
When the brightest day dawns without light,
And the brittle night comes softly without darkness,
I shall yet remember.

-Lloyd Biggle, Jr.

When the darkest coffee brews without perception

'Tis a bleak morn when a cup of coffee doesn't perk you up.

'Tis.
But hark, a new day of equal compassion is yours for the Earl Grey.

Deep, man, real deep. Or nonsense. Take your pick.

My dear, sweet, wonderful ricpic, it is of course nonsense. But I wanted a poem that would relate to space/scifi.

On the other hand, it's still pretty cool 40 years later :)

Whew. At least she called me dear sweet wonderful.

Did Sir Elton ever write a bad song?

I liked the poem. It compelled me to search Lloyd Biggle, Jr.

Based on the brief passage you linked, this Biggle quote seems fitting to his protagonist Jan Darzek:

“Life is life’s greatest gift. Guard the life of another creature as you would your own because it is your own. On life’s scale of values, the smallest is no less precious to the creature who owns it than the largest.”
– Lloyd Biggle Jr.

Chick, I don't know if he wrote it, but Tiny Dancer is pretty bad.

Thanks, lemondog.
