Carla says she heard one of them screaming, “Crazy b**ch has a gun!!”

Cheviot Hills, California on the westside of Los Angeles is within a short drive of Fox Studios and Sony Pictures, and is one of the lowest density neighborhoods of LA. That doesn’t mean that the sleepy community is crime-free … or entirely asleep, either. Burglars who had started a spree of B&Es in the neighborhood brought it to an abrupt halt when they discovered Carla awake — and armed:
“I’m not a sitting duck,” says Carla. She prefers to keep her last name private. Carla is a Cheviot Hills homeowner who scared away burglars when she grabbed her shotgun and fired.

Carla told us her dog woke her up when he started barking. She looked outside and saw a man in her backyard, another waiting by a car.

Carla wasted no time. Wearing her nightgown, she went outside and fired once toward the ground. Carla says, it was just to scare them off. It worked. The two suspects ran back to a white sedan and drove off.

That's how I lost my virginity.

Fired in to the ground did she....did the local cops arrest her yet? For discharging a firearm in a residential neighborhood? Did she have a reasonable apprehension that her life was in immediate danger? Outside of her house?

If you kill them both, they won't come back.

Some DA who wants to make a name for him/herself is going to run Carla through the wringer, I'm afraid. I hope she's an NRA member so that legal help will be made available to her.

Plus, going outside to shoot was a bad idea. There was no real threat, and wouldn't be until the perps broke into her home.

Like their masters, they expect us to be all nice guys.

Funny what happens when they get something else.

True. No witnesses then either.

Do unto others what they are trying to do to you, but do it first!

The best thing she could have done was open the door and scream "Crazy bitch has a gun!!”

A friend of mine who lives in the hood of South Central LA woke up one night to the sound of banging on the window of his second story apartment. It was a burglar climbing a ladder to the window. My friend got his shotgun and just stood in the window waiting for the guy to get to the top. When he did he looked in and saw the shotgun aimed at him. And he fell back off the ladder, about 15 feet down, and ran away. That shit happens all the time in the hood, but you don't hear about it, because nobody calls the cops in the hood unless they trying to get rid of their boyfriend or husband.

She should of had a rifle with a scope so she could have shot them two blocks before they got to her house.

Someone should invent a profiling rifle scope. It has a little silhouette in the view that you just match up with the target. If the profile matches, you are good to shoot.

My wife thinks I'm crazy to sleep with a laser pointer under my pillow but I say better safe than sorry.

With a laser sight, so they can look down and see the little red light on their chest. Uh oh.

Actually, there is nothing quite as intimidating as the sound of a 12 gauge shotgun racking a shell into the chamber on a quiet night. KA CHUNK. Well....except for the sound of actually firing the gun.

...and then the pain of the buckshot.

There is probably dozens of stories like this one, that go unreported, because they inconvenience the anti-gun narrative.

I was just looking at world murder stats today per 100k people. The US is tied last with Martinique at 4.2. The #1 murder stat goes to Honduras at 91.6. All of the countries listed except the US outlaw weapons for citizens. However, if you take Chicago, New Orleans, Detroit, New York, and Washington DC out of the US murder stat picture, the US would drop almost in half to 2.0. And these cities have the strictest gun laws in the union too.

Yes...I recommend a "tactical" version of either a 9mm or .45 ACP pistol, firing sub-sonic rounds. "Tactical" version have extended barrels with threaded ends for silencers.

See, you can now buy "silencers" which do a great job on sub-sonic loads (anything under about 1050 feet per second velocity). Not much more sound that a loud beer fart.

Everything I carry is sub-sonic, just sayin'.... :-) However I'd never bother with a silencer...reason is for self defense you do not need rounds that penetrate everything...just dump the energy in the target. 900 fps worked in 68-71 just fine, and still does.

Actually Michigan and Detroit, in Wayne County, has become much more reasonable. A CPL can be had in 30 days for those with clean records. A few years ago, you chances of getting a CPL in Wayne County/Detroit was zilch unless you sucked some political weenie. No longer the case.

The current Detroit Police Chief has flat out said he wants every citizen qualified to have a gun and a CPL for it.

Note: The CPL is most useful just for handling and transport of a firearm, whether you ever carry it concealed or not...many target shooters I know never "carry", but use the CPL for convenience of handling and transporting. It eliminates the "debate" over accessibility of a handgun carried to and from a range in a truck, for example. A dick cop can make this very difficult...e.g., demand you have a locked trunk...in a truck?
