Watch a video of a Santa Ana police officer shoot an unarmed homeless man

Just seconds after he called her a bitch.

No don't. On the Blaze. Why in the world would you want to watch that?

Honestly. What's wrong with you?

Santa Ana interim Police Chief Rojas says he was  a convicted burglar, and he was combative when he first got into altercations with individual at McDonald's parking lot.

Shot him dead and with his head went galumpin' back.

[Incidentally, I drove right by a huge McDonalds that went up in my old neighborhood and I thought, oh man, I haven't had one of of those hamburgers in years. And I imagined holding one in front of my face, right there at the steering wheel their compressed steamy soft buns, their meat patties nice and flat and apparently containing apparently more than mere meat, and careless artistic splotch of catsup and single crunchy pickle WATCH THE ROAD !]

"I'm Lovin' It!"

That's been McDonald's advertising thingie for years and years and years.

And it has made them billions and billions and billions of dollars.

And from day one I thought it was thoroughly, totally, and completely mega-stupid.

So what does that tell you about me?

So what does that tell you about me?

That you don't own a McDonald's franchise?

The police woman's silencer didn't work right. I did hear a pop.

How does Imus get away with wearing a cowboy hat covering his face on television?

Its a male burka.

Lem, having seen Imus' face, I gotta say--be happy he does it thisaway.

Well, I would let Imus go with a warning. I wouldn't shoot him over it.

I would shoot a Hamburger helper though.

I record and save Imus out of tradition, and these days a desire to complete the set.

As somebody said of his coughing fits, the end might come any time, and it would make a great ring tone.

The cops down here had to settle a case in recent weeks in which the police shot at a car thiefrobber 137 times. They did manage to kill the guy but they also shot up an apartment complex full of people. All this because the perp allegedly tried to run over a cop.

Now this was the Orange County Sheriff's Department that did this. They shot at this particular perp 137 times putting many other lives in jeopardy in what a federal judge has called a police execution. The perp was black.

Where's the outrage from the black political community? There isn't any. Because the Orange County Sheriff is black, his wife WAS the Police Chief of Orlando and is a local politician and is also black, and they don't want to make them look bad.

Why don't more people shoot others in the legs? It would seem to me best to use nonlethal force, but still disable the aggressor.

bagoh20 said...

If you need to use a gun to make you physically equal to 50% of the general public, then you should not be a cop. It's simply irresponsible for people on both sides of the badge. Every cop on the street should be able to physically control the vast majority of citizens they encounter with nonfatal means or find another job. The alternative guarantees more dead cops and more dead citizens.

I'm guessing if you miss, you could hit someone else instead of a thin leg.
She might not be a good shot?

Sorry, but my first instinct is to chortle and guffaw. The videographer says that a "gentleman" was shot - just like Alexander Hamilton.

There is but one purpose for releasing and promoting such video (besides a general coarsening in taste from porn to snuff films): increase civil disorder.

bagoh20 said...

"Why don't more people shoot others in the legs?"

I've always asked that myself. There are many shootings where the assailant is wielding a screw driver or rock, and shooting in the legs would stop the threat. I'm sure it due to training that is designed to protect the officer at all costs. An injured person can still pull a gun, and I think more importantly testify against you later. The reason of the danger of missing does not explain cops firing dozens or even a hundred shots at a single person which they often do.

The policy is selfish and cowardly in my opinion. If you are not willing to take the risks of being a cop without killing people who threaten you, then don't apply for the job. The job is to protect the citizens, not to go out and look altercations where you are forced to kill one where the average citizen would deal with it more responsibly.

In this case, as in many others, the most dangerous person to show up at incident is the cop, especially if they have no real ability to control things other than with lethal force.

Traffic flows pretty well around traffic accidents until the police show up, avoiding severed limbs and heads.

Then the interstate is closed for 18 hours.

Andy Griffith gave Barney an unloaded gun and one bullet, which bullet he had to keep in his pocket.

Bad cops don't want to be caught on video partaking in their dirty justice.

There is a treasure trove of youtube videos revealing unwarranted force and police brutality that will depress and scare the hell out of “you”. I really do want to respect the police. The corruption makes is difficult. It is important for our basic civil liberties to keep the cameras rolling.

The Brit's take their fear of guns to the extreme in the opposite direction. I watch this British crime show on PBS and none of the cops have guns.
The bad guy is surrounded by thin pasty old cops without guns and somehow they manage to make an arrest. I love it.

They never aired the episode where Andy was being held hostage with a knife to his throat by a meth head. Barney fired and missed-and not having another bullet, Andy paid with his life.

Alternative ending: citizen Goober whips out his Glock and takes out the perp.

I've gone from being a big supporter of the police to mostly fearing and distrusting them now.

I had my home broken into once and got a call from the cops at work saying to come home, they were at my house and caught some burglars there. Knowing nothing else, I was really only concerned with the danger from the police, not the burglars. The crooks might steal my TV, but the cops might shoot my dogs, or me, not to mention mess up my weed garden and smash my meth lab.

It's a no-brainer about which I would prefer to be breaking into my home. I'll take some burglars anytime.

chickelit said...

We went through a similar two sided argument several months ago when that rogue cop threatened (and actually killed) the kid of his "tormenters."

"You took away my chance to have a family so now I'll get yours" he wrote in his screed (paraphrasing).

People were more concerned about innocent bystanders wounded than anything else.

Carry on.

I thought there were all kinds of police brutality laws and regulations and commissions set up years ago by the Lefties that wouldn't allow this stuff.

I guess when you're the Ruling Class and have baskets of money, it's OK to shoot down Jean Valjean.

Right?

Eric the Fruit Bat said...

When a SWAT team shoots a homeless guy, they can't break into his home first, but at least they can still shoot his little hobo dog, and that's something, after all.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

That must have been on account of the camera he was hiding from.

It's complicated.

No shots were fired but a small piece of my college fund was handed over as protection money.

It's just boneheaded to call a female cop a bitch while she has a gun trained on you. Fuck, she was clearly PMS'ing. Seriously though, this is clearly negligent homocide. There was zero reason to shoot this dude and she should have bro-tazed him instead. Yeah, I will second guess her decision. I've been on enough ride-alongs with enough stops that have had guns pulled to know the difference.

My respect for police work and policemen in general fades by the day. PD's know the bullshit they have to deal with and the zoo they are trying to keep in line, but when those that respect them get caught in their line of fire and you get embroiled in the CJS by them, they will never leave you along again.

Go watch an episode of CHiPs and you will see that they almost never draw their weapons and when they do, they never show the weapons. Oh, except in one episode they did if i remember correctly.

Gawd for some reason this and another post of Chip reminds me of a story--man my memory could be wrong of it but--

supposedly there were two MPs at Cheyenne Mountain and they were pretending to duel--or so the story goes--and one of them pulled out his gun and accidentally shot himself in the face...?

Is that possible?

I always wondered how the hell that could have happened.

"This is why women should not be cops. Or fireman. Or soldiers."

Or orderlies in psych wards.

(I'll accept "soldiers" only in the sense of some jobs taking more physical strength than others because unlike cops or firemen or orderlies a soldier isn't expected to wade in and physically control the enemy... though carrying out wounded is an issue, certainly she could fly the helicopter or drive the ambulance.)
