A couple of stray thoughts on the Chris Lane killing:
One of the perps -- the one accused of pulling the trigger -- fits the profile of having no father. Another, the youngest, has a father vocally proclaiming his innocence. This doesn't fit the narrative.
The collective Euro/Commonwealth response lead by Piers Morgan that "America's gun laws are to blame" is so predictable but we've been through this before. BTW, I forgot what Herr Captain Morgan had to say when the Trayvon Martin story first broke.
I appreciate the further gathering of facts on this case, or the debunking of alleged facts. Please put them here.

Someone elsewhere has pointed out that, as they all were minors and therefore ineligible to legally own guns, NO LAWS would have "stopped" them from owning guns short of totally outlawing and somehow confiscating all guns in America--legal and illegal. What this incident says about "gun control" is beyond me.

Isn't that the unstated goal of Morgan activists -- to completely remove guns from the hands of civilians? replace it instead with complete trust in the gendarme. And our President has yet to weigh in on this topic -- a topic which brought a tear to his eye in the White House Rose garden.
I think the idea is you're supposed to refrain from mentioning race until you get to the comments.
Once that happens, then the blog proprietress can make the self-important claim that her well-organized enemies are falsifying evidence in a conspiracy to silence her voice.
I think that's how it's supposed to work.
There are many questions that hang over this case. The big question, though, is whether the media will try to answer them........I would be interested to know what are the dynamics of these kids' lives that they consider murder an antidote to boredom. How did the white kid come to hang out with this crew? Why did they choose this particular young man to shoot?.....Don't hold your breath waiting for the answer.

Well, William, the white-boy "wigger" phenomenon is a well established fact. Remember, news reports indicate at least one of the boys was a wannabe "rapper" trying to establish "street cred." Cody Jarrett ... no offense taken. No change of thinking either. You are conflating different things. I have no problem with police actions that are within the scope of law....for example those in Boston. I'm only sorry that both brothers didn't die that day.
If you screen my comments fully you will also find I'm critical of police hubris when it appears, such as no-knock raids to deliver simple warrants. Worse, the police departments (as happened here) who bring television crews along on raids to capture a known killer in a known hiding place...someone gets too excited and a innocent dies.
I do NOT think confiscation of guns, from otherwise non-criminal citizens, is within the scope of any law. If guns were truly confiscated and the citizenry left defenseless, then what you apparently think is police excess today will no longer be necessary...just a rug for you to kneel upon and worship the enforcers appointed over you. There really IS a difference.
I do understand that as someone who has lived and operated under martial law, in two different countries, I have a different viewpoint on what it is and the impact of martial law. Martial law is NOT what happened in Boston.

CNN and other U.S. media outlets won't mention it because the three suspected killers are under 18, but Australian news reports have identified them. And here's where it can get a LOT uglier.
The three teenagers are black, and the victim was white. And given the reaction we've seen from right-wingers to the response to the George Zimmerman trial, and then President Obama's impromptu press conference about race in America, there's a good chance they're going to jump on this story to justify every single damn racist bone in their body.

The horrible bit is that we are seeing a reversal of historical trends: Whereas previously middle-class values seeped down to the under-class both via osmosis and directed societal educational efforts, we are seeing a reversal where the values of the underclass are being transmitted (and accepted) and spreading upward--floating, as it were, on the cultural wave of hip-hop/rap music and Hollywood/TV sounds and images affirming the "gansta" lifestyle. The story will not be given broad coverage. In whatever coverage that is given they will not speculate on whether any of these kids had a previous history of hostile behavior to whites...Any harsh comparison of their coverage of this case to that of the Zimmerman case will be regarded as an example of the bigotry of the person making that comparison.....White prejudice is newsworthy. Examples of black prejudice are, on closer inspection, really examples of white prejudice......I have a suggestion for a follow up pic for Oprah. I recommend a biopic of Phil Donahue. In the movie, you can show how his mother was raped by black men and, when his father protested, he was killed. This will make Phil's liberalism and conquest of his own prejudices even more heroic and admirable.
