There's never an elephant around when you need one.

Or you could park on a hill and use gravity. Do they have gravity over there?

I was able to unscrew a lug nut that was stuck inside the wrench, and the thing is, there were four men all my senior flummoxed and stuck, full stop stuck because they could not remove the lug. Four men stuck because the lug nut was stuck.

I came upon them in the darkness. They parked at a distance. They were huddled around a jacked up car, everyone else was gone, and I am nobody's mechanic.

And I visualized, "Odd. How did the interaction with the car make this happen?" Locate the critical moment of the lug getting stuck, how is that possible? And undo it the same way it was done.

So I said, "screw the nut back on and let the axil hold it securely so you can yank loose the wrench."

Oil it, and remove the lug nut again.

Taadaaaaaaa. And this is how I won the admiration of someone else's peers.

I have no idea who those dumbshits were. And I received no prize, except perhaps for bragging rights such as now, and a lingering sense of security about the car mechanics-knowledge that occurred by osmosis, a confidence in that osmosis, and that is not to be sniffed at, nebulous, yes, but that is something.

I thought this was going to involve ghee (maybe as lube or fuel).

It's how you start airplanes in America, at least the ones I had.

Actually, Sixty, at the edges of the world, gravity decreases exponentially.

And just to save time, it's turtles all the way down.

Well that explains it. For a simple country boy jump starting a truck was a skill we grew up knowing.

Different country, I reckon.

You can start an elephant by putting a screwdriver across the solenoid contacts but you'll need a pretty big screwdriver.

It's troubling to admit, with my vast knowledge of physics, that I never put two and two together that turning the wheel was the same as rolling downhill...mind blown.
