Digestible Self Improvement

I found this list intriguing because it takes interesting (helpful?) bits from studies and wraps them in a superhero sugarcoating. I almost didn't read it when I saw the way it was packaged, but then I found it worthwhile. I feel that there is a cultural insight waiting to be gleaned from this, but I am too distracted at the moment to see it. Perhaps you can.

Or you can tell me that's stupid.

Either way, the comments section is there below.

I get a broken link, Freeman.

Sorry. I think it should work now.

Freeman, my avast antivirus says it's not safe and that it contains a trojan...still can't open it.

Strange. Not sure what else to do to it. None of my spyware scanners are going off.

K, must be my machine :)

I just ran it through several link scanners including AVG and Google, and it came up safe with all of them. Maybe it's an issue with Avast.

Want to stop a bad habit? Increase the time it takes to initiate it by 20 seconds.

I had a nasty habit of picking my nose while riding at my friend's car front seat, right next to him.

After calling my attention to it a second time I got over the embarrassment very quickly. I put a pair of sterile latex on the next time I rode in his car. I explained that I thought the gloves would act as a reminder not to do something. After one wearing, the next day, I started noticing my hand's finger, while not wearing the gloves, going up to meet my nose just in time for me to stop it.
My friend the driver was embarrassed that he made me self conscious he said. I said to him that he did good. I had to do something about a nasty habit and he had helped me.

Freeman, don't worry about the link, just tell us about the subject and you're impressions.

At thirteen years of age one of my friends said one of the funniest things I ever heard. We went to a movie onbase. About two guys such as ourselves set upon an adventure. The whole first part of the movie is about the idea occurring to them, their discussion of it, agreement of their parents, the planning involved, the increasing drama of the setting forth on their quest, at the very first weakest lamest rivulet the two pause before stepping over, sort of a mini-Rubicon suggesting entry to wilderness in that it was not a gutter, and my friend said, "Well, guess we gotta go back."

I laughed so hard I have no idea what happened after that. His comically suggesting giving up so easily at the first tiny obstacle was hilarious and still is, much much better than the movie could have been.

The first one, creativity during relaxation.

A simple answer to a knotty problem often occurs to me just as I'm falling asleep, happy and content and relaxed. Just pops into my head. And then darn it all to heck I can't remember it in the morning! Recently it was an issue with the layout of the centers in my preschool classroom. I kept moving things around, rearranging, not getting things to fit the way I needed them to. That night drifting away I thought, "Duh, if I just ___________ then I can ________ and put __________ over ____________" which will be just perfect YAAAAAAAAAAY!

And then in the morning I couldn't remember what was in the dadgum blanks! I just remembered having the inspiration but not its content!
